Too much make-up?

Post » Mon Nov 28, 2011 7:25 pm

Don't you choose the make-up in the character creation stuff? So guaranteed they haven't make every woman have make-up as it wouldn't make sense if you think about Beggars.

I called you out on your mistake, I don't see what's so wrong with that. Am I not allowed to do that now? I guess we should all be good to each other. END OF LINE!

Well, you did share your opinion with everyone at the beginning of the thread, then you proceeded to taunt me among other things.

You are far to critical on others opinions. Your assumptions that opinions are a mistake? Where does this go?

You reply with sarcastic response to just about everyone in your opposition into the make up issue you have.

some modder is going to make an anime race that's even more dolled up than what you've seen and really make the game un-immersive. look like crap.

Fixed.

Some "opinions" CAN, infact, be mistaken. Skyrim's people are not elegant. Maybe you can't prove that in a courthouse, but let's be serious here.. they're just not. Let's not make a bigger deal out of this.

Just so you know, most of my posts in this thread contain no sarcasm.

I don't think I will, to be honest. Women don't have a strong effect on me at all.

Too much make up? No....no....no
There is no evidence yet
The only clear set of information you could prove this
With is if you had pictures of every female npc in the game including their social class and occupancy
Other than that i cant infer wether or not there is too much makeup
The official press shots and pre sets had no clear indication of social status other than bar maid, royalty, and player
character
We have seen one picture of a bandit in elven armor who isnt wearing make up though....
So far the only thing this thread can do is wait until

On topic-if they all look like they have makeup that will be a shame but you will forget after awhile. At least in the character creator you can shade your own character differently.
Off topic-I just read this whole thread for your sanity anyone still involved do the same you may just give-up on this one.

"Skyrim is a wealthy and thus powerful province. For example, "Solitude, always one of the richest and most influential counties in Skyrim, has grown ever more powerful...." quoted from uespwiki.

I would find it odd that a wealthy province does not have elegant women in it. Not that all of them would be..that would depend on the diversity according to lore. Historically in our world both women and men have worn makeup/paints/wigs/jewelry...something..for various reasons. The people of Tameriel are advanced, there is agriculture, working cities..ect. Even more barbaric, hunter gatherer groups of people have used decorations (paints, jewelry ect) If you mean because they are elves they should not wear make-up? I've never seen this lore from bethesda before though, so I guess I don't understand how make up breaks immersion. Personally make up or lack off would not break immersion for myself unless there was some lore backing up either side for that particular race or province.

Seems like every female in skyrim has loads of makeup on, yet walks around in rugged, dirty clothing. That.. doesn't make any sense to me. ANY woman would rather buy a good weapon to protect herself or even better clothing or armour rather than makeup.. at least in skyrim. of course I'm just assuming makeup exists in the tes universe and the usage of it is widespread in skyrim.

Please don't start with the whole "DURRRR DURRRRRRR IT'S A FANTASY GAME!" load of [censored]. ever heard of suspension of disbelief?

EDIT: Oh god I messed up the title
I meant to say "Too much make-up?"

I think you may be mistaking the new faces with the fact that they look like they have make up on. I don't believe they really have any make up at all.

the man said sorry you know, why don't you just grow up, wait for the game, play the game and then you can complain if you want. But before that time I don't see the point of stupid threads like this

I really didn't notice it.
Can you link us maybe?
I think that that Nord lady in the tavern didn't have make up and I don't know of any other screenshot of a female in Skyrim.

TES did a game with no make up, it was called Oblivion and yuck. I'll take a trashy bar wench over a homely chick anyday of the week. anyways it's not far fetched seeing how:
The first archaeological evidence of cosmetics usage was found in Egypt around 3500 BC during the Old Kingdom. The Ancient Greeks and Romans also used cosmetics.[5][6] The Romans and Ancient Egyptians used cosmetics containing poisonous mercury and often lead. The ancient kingdom of Israel was influenced by cosmetics as recorded in the Old Testament—2 Kings 9:30 where Jezebel painted her eyelids—approximately 840 BC. The Biblical book of Esther describes various beauty treatments as well.

half the nord faces in morrowind have war paint, so its no stretch to assume that nordic women are just as concerned with sixy face paints as the men :whistling: .

it isnt unrealistic at all even... if men can ready themselves for death and violence and still find the time for face paint, why cant village women do the same for their much less hectic daily lives? and quite frankly you wont have any right to complain once all the character creation mods come out and all the women have perfect clean skin, glittery mascara and stripperiffic outfits :teehee: .

Anyway, I can see some make up around their eyes, but nothing special.
I think it's fine.

I went back to look through the presets. While a lot of the women are wearing some eye shadow or lip coloring, neither is really out there. I'm fairly sure even plain old charcoal was used as a common eyeshadow. Lipstick could have been made from anything from flowers, crushed gems, or even crushed insects  I don't really find it more peculiar than some of the men being clean shaven or otherwise well groomed in the facial hair department :P

So while beggars and whatnot probably shouldn't look very well groomed, some form of cosmetics probably weren't out of reach to the common folk either.

Both of these seem fair to me.
From what I've seen, the women have tended to be beautiful, but not exactly heavily made up. And you've already got the stuff for warpaint (as has been seen) - really that's all cosmetic products too, although applied for a different effect.

Warpaint is so much easier and much less expensive to put on than the make-up you see the presets wearing.
tribal cosmetics =/= modern cosmetics

Maybe the male population of Skyrim has high standards or something.

The presets are there to show you what's possible in character gen. I've seen plenty of NPC females without makeup. Lol at the poll results.

The ladies always wear make-up for planned screenshots.
But once you'll be able to play the game, try to sneak inside their bedroom when they wake up to see their true faces. ;)

two teens trying to peek on the next door widow in the morning.

Teen1=Dude this is awesome this widow is so hot!
Teen2=I know right oh wait here she comes shut up!
Teens reaction of seeing her face= OH MY GOD RUNNNNNNNN!!!!!!!!! ITS SO HORRIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Most prosttutes today aren't exactly "elegant", but they sure wear a lot of make-up (from what I've seen). I don't think there's any relation between make-up and elegance. If any, the Nords should wear more because they're not that elegant, so they just slap it on in layers rather than focus on a nice delicate look.
