I can get neither the Spout Or Tekkit Launchers to start. i click on them and nothing happens. No matter how long I wait how how many times I click them. The Normal Minecraft Launcher works fine though.

For me its a combination of the two. I have a lot of studying to do and so what time I have I don't want to invest in a map that won't be around for long. I enjoy things after I have built them, they are more than just temples to my ego and it's simply more worthwhile to build them in the knowledge that I can keep them for a while.
Personally, I got really bored of Technic before I went off to New York, so had no real motivation to play when I get back. I've been meaning to come on again lately, but between work, gym, girlfriend, and other games, I've really not had the time.

I don't find it that amazing. All I do is use slabs/diced blocks to make less sharp edges, and a few things. But my set ups are basically 'Technic Primitive' compared to the others, and I'm not that bothered.

Amazing. I loved the way the Lower East Side felt more like a town in itself than part of a big city. Was there for 8 days, and was gutted when I had to leave. Still prefer Edinburgh though.

Question Tank: Is there any chance of letting us use our shears to gather bushes and vines? I was trying to build in the jungle, and apparently can't harvest them due to the RPG mod.
I went over this with Tank yesterday, and it's a new bug/behavior since Spout functionality was re-added to the server. A similar thing happened to me with farming harvests... Any items I automatically harvested (with pistons or water) simply disappeared - though apparently they were still in the buffer, because when I hand-harvested some wheat just afterward, I was rewarded with over a hundred wheat and seeds from that single harvest...

I suspect the kink will be auto-corrected when Spout updates again.

Here's the bug report: http://issues.spout.org/browse/SPOUTPLUGIN-4

It logged me out while I was swimming. I hope it won't automatically drown me when it comes back up, or that trek to the north is going to have been a waste of time...

Server back up. Vanilla didn't handle so well all the clients losing connection at once, so there may be a <15 rollback.

Thing is, I'm not ON spout, just the default browser.

@Tank- Please tell me that's '<15 minutes' not '<15 hours' :cryvaultboy:

The jungles kinda remind me of the Gungan cities and their jungles from the PS1 game Star Wars: Jedi Power Battles.

It just feels like the same kind of vine filled landscape, same swampy green covering everything.

As for map changes, I dunno, I figured changing to fresh maps produces the best results. Especially things like the Tekkit map. Say it was explored 5k in all directions, you'd have to walk 5k just in hopes of a jungle biome spawning. It's best to just get a new map in those cases.

I disagree. i have not started any projects simply because i know that i will never be able to finish them, we're changing maps too often. Before it was understandable since it was because map generation was broken by mojang, but they have made it so that the maps can be compatible with minimal chunk errors on the borders.

if thats the way the server continues to be, thats fine. its fun to ocassionally hang out, but creatively i am stifled and pretty much exclusively play on SP to work on building stuff that i can put effort into knowing it won't be wasted.

I disagree with this. People put a lot of work into building, and if you want to explore, you should put the same amount of work into that. Why punish those who spent countless hours building just because you can't be assed to spend some time walking for whatever reason...

It also doesn't do wonder for people's motivations to know that their creations likely will not be around for more than a month or two.

We've been over map changes before. They happen. Here are some of the reasons for the current map change:

Vanilla/Spout:

- Converting non-Anvil worlds to the new Anvil system can leave chunk errors and other "artifacts" at newly generated borders.
- Converting non-Anvil worlds to the new Anvil system can completely rewrite current chunks, including player placed blocks.

Tekkit:

-Same issues as above.
- World Conversion does not convert modded blocks.
-Tekkit id's change with just about every new Technic Pack.

Those of you experiencing Lag and FPS drops:

-This is due to the way Jeb changed lighting calculations. In 1.1 ,and builds prior to that, the server handled all lighting calculations. Because Jeb changed the world height he put the lighting calculations on the client side so that the server could have better performance. Take it up with Jeb.

In accordance with the decision made by Rohugh over a year ago, which most of you should know already, any complaints about server operation (including mods and world changes) should be made on the server forum as it can quickly degenerate into drama and flame wars. We would like to keep this thread open.

I think the map should be reset aswell but for the last time in a long period so that we can build without worrying about the map getting reset

Have you people ever seen errors at the edges of chunks? They are ugggly. Hopefully once minecraft stops having updates we'll just be able to move spawn and not change maps, but I think sometimes it's good to make a fresh start. We have single player if we want permanancy.

And there is always the dropbox for people who want to visit their old creations again. I was in Enderwood the other week.

I'm not concerned about people's ego projects. Until MC stops updating, we will end up changing maps to conform to new things, we've discussed this forever ago. I still do big projects just for giggles. If I make a flaw in the beta project, then when I do it over, I can perfect on it, or I can get an idea of what I want to do to improve the design. 'Because we lose our work' is just a silly reason to complain since we've been warned map changes are inevitable.

Oooh, map restart? Someone let me know when it happens.

I do think that each map should be up for at least 3 or 4 months, which is plenty of time for a big project. I do think, though, that if they're not even lasting this long then we have a problem.

How long has the present tekkit map been up? We seem to be moving ti take advantage of new updates, not for any ingame reason.
