Unofficial "Will My PC Run Skyrim" Thread #51 w hardware gui

Post » Sun May 06, 2012 10:39 pm

Hmm? According to the Arena box I still have, all you needed was a 386/25. It ran in MS-DOS 5, and wanted a total of 4 MBs of RAM.

The box from Daggerfall is on a shelf way up close to the ceiling, and I don't feel like getting a ladder to pull it down. According to Planet Elder Scrolls, 486DX2 66MHz; 8MB RAM; 50MB hard drive space; CD-ROM drive.

I can't recall what PCs I had when I played each of those games. That was a very long time ago (1994 for Arena, 1996 for Daggerfall).

You still have your Arena box?! Jings, you must be as old as me. Think mine is in my garage somewhere (so it may as well be at the south pole)

CPU: Intel Core i7-2630QM quad core @ 2.0 (-2.9) GHz
RAM: 4 GB
GPU: Nvidia GeForce GT 540M, 1,0 GB
Resolution: 1366 x 768
Os: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
HDD: 5400 rpm
Sound card wont be any issue.

Im guessing medium or close to high, could I be far wrong?

Also, lowering res to 720p do you think Id manage to keep 30fps for video recording at medium settings?

I have a MSI 560 GTX Ti
i5 2500k
8GB of DDR3 @ 1600

Can everyone tell me my set up is so awesome! I know deep down that I can run this game on high no problem, but I just want to post my specs in hopes that others will say, "Wow man, what an amazing set up. I'm so jealous of your electrical components."

The reality is, I'm getting this for the 360, as PC gamers will undoubtedly be screwed somehow. Plus, long play times favor the 360. =)

EDIT - spelling

Just a note, anyone who is using system requirements lab or canyourunit.com take the results with a pinch of salt. Both sites are unreliable. Using both of these sites my 6 year old rig was told it would run the game above minimum settings. (I have a strong graphics card and good RAM but my processor is ancient (Pentium D 2.8 Ghz)) So don't go trusting these sites immediately :)

yes, pc games will undoubtedly get screwed what with the unofficial patches that fix things even beth doesn't want to bother with, all those annoying game-enhancing replay adding mods, and better graphics. yup, we're screwed.

you should be ok on high but i'd be very careful to watch out for any sort of graphic 'anomaly'. if you notice any at all i'd upgrade the PSU just so you don't damage that new gpu....

Why post in this thread if your going to be stupid? Its for people who want to get a idea of what to expect performance wise on pc, not a place to gloat. Yes, people are happy about there systems but thats because people take pride in building them, nothing wrong with that. Theres not a thing wrong with getting the 360 version either, wish the pc vs console crap around here would stop.

I need your help guys!
Should i buy this CPU AMD Phenom II X6 1075T 3GHz? because the CPU i have right now and it's a AMD Athlon II X2 250 3,0 GHz.
I fit all the other requirements on high and some on ultra, its just the CPU.
I know many of you will tell me to buy it but the reason why i dont do that is that i think i have to little PSU and if i buy this new CPU it will take to much Watt.
So help me!

Thanks in advance

So say I only had 2GB of RAM, could I just use virtual memory to make up the difference?

i would say pretty smooth on high settings depending on resolution. on a high resolution it might drop a bit but with some tweaks you should be able to maintain high settings.

A cpu wont put you over the limit on power, they really dont draw a ton,at least compared to your video card. How many watt is your PSU and what video card are you running? If a cpu upgrade puts you over the limit its time for a new PSU anyways.

Medium- High depending on how well dual cores scale and your res.

Geforce 460 SE 1024
4 GB RAM
AMD Phenom II X4 840
1440X900 monitor resolution

What kind of performance am I looking at? If it will run choppy at medium I'll not bother with the PC version

No, that wont help anything. Ram is dirt cheap though.
