Vampire attacks... Really?

I suppose he should be, what with this economy.
No need to constantly rub it in everyone else's faces though...

Just imagine if he lost his job. He'd be destitute, and have to leave Whiterun. He'd wander aimlessly, with no sense of purpose, until he fell into the wrong crowd.

Then we'd meet him in Riften.

I dont care how much crap they spawn in cities. They could spawn a master vampire riding a dragon dropping werebear bombs and I will look, laugh, then destroy. Not my fault all those weak ass guards and NPC didnt just run inside.

I -MIGHT- make a Youtube video of this, showing what happens to him in such a scenario...

Even so...

I mean I kinda sit here and scratch my head when people say dragons killed their townies. When dragons attack my townies, they just fall to one knee, but never actually seem killable, save for the guards.
But I dislike dragon encounters in general because they're tedious. Those sound tedious too....

An ancient dragon killed four people in Riverwood one time. Ir depends. Certain people can't die like Endon in Markarth amd so on because they are relevant to certain quests and theyd break said quests if they were to die. 80% of whiterun is killable though almost all of Dawnstar, but thats okay because they dont really offer much to the game after one quest and the majority of most towns can die. I spent one day without saving killing all the killables myself. It was pretty awesome.

If it really bothers people that much, I would suggest saving before you fast travel. Dont like whats on the other end, just reload.

That or teach Civvilians to run the hell away and make gaurds the major league buttwoopers. That sounds like a reasonable fix. We still get the occasional attack to help fend off, no one dies due to lack of inteligence, aaaaaaand the gaurds get to do their jobs. EVERYONE WINS.

Doesn't fix the issue for people who don't fast travel, and just find this mess waiting for them when they enter the city naturally.

There is always a safe time and place to save. I get it, it aggravates people, but in the whole of the game it really isnt that bad. I, personally, enjoy the random acts of violence that require quelling. And yeah, sometimes it happens in the middle of a quest at the worst time, but hey, [censored] happens, youre the Dovahkin, take care of business.

It's okay, in my beta game, they killed every killable NPC in riften and markarth.

This doesn't sound like fun at all. More of an annoyance that destroys the world. Might just skip this DLC if I keep reading posts like this.

Indeed...

I do not like this feature at all. Killing NPCs that give me quests is not fun for me, plus I like having a populated city so this kind of a thing is a big MINUS for Dawnguard.Though the entire DLC is fantastic from what I could see on youtube, this is the only thing that is a big No-No... I have no desire to save everytime I fast travel into a city because I do that a lot. For example, I loved the random thief events in villages and towns here and then... If these vampires don't pose much of a threat and don't break my game - I'll accept it ... but if these vampire raiders are strong as comments say they are (meaning owning the crap out of cities and leaving dead wastes), I will be sceptical about buying it.

Unless they remove this thing in the next month (they obviously will not), I'll probably wait for a mod before buying Dawnguard. I like having every NPC alive until I decide otherwise... I'm the only true God of Death in Skyrim, not some pack of silly vampires.

For the last time. Quest givers are marked "Essential", therefore NO quest giver will die even if every Vampire in Tamriel attacks one city.

I don't like this feature at all, it's enough worrying about dragon attacks! :swear:

People are still taking this lightly? They obviously have not woken up to entire cities being 70% gone. Me and my mate ended up with most of Riften, Dawnstar and Whiterun dead, which completely destroys immersion, because eventually were gonna end up with the Dovahkiin in Skrim's version of I am Legend with dragons and vampires for company.

We managed to finish the questline, on the Dawnguard side obviously, since we had grown an irrational hate towards vampires. But just uninstalled it afterwards, cause it really was just a pain.

Don't get me wrong, it was a brilliant DLC, worth the money, but this extraordinarily high chance of vampire encounters has to n
be reduced, the dragons are bad enough.

That's kind of what happens in an invasion. People die. They aren't the essential ones, and if people didn't die then a ton of people would be complaining about how immersion is ruined because people didn't die when there's supposed to be a Vampire invasion...

It's a horrid Catch 22...

I take it likely because It's not that hard to save everyone. At night just make sure your near the gate and take care of things during the day. It's how I keep the balnce in town.

I suggest giving everyone in Skyrim a Daedric Weapon of your choice that has been improved with 2000%+ with Enchanting and Potion and Enchanted the weapon with "Absorb Health" before getting this DLC. That should reduce the death rate of non vampires.

Be warned that you might not want to mess with the citizens >.>

Its was harder for us probably because we played on master, we should have taken it down to novice most likely, but I like that enchanted daedric weapon idea, will give it a try when I come around to buying my individual copy of dawnguard at christmas.

Quest givers that give out the "radiant" (miscellaneous) quests are NOT MAKRED ESSENTIAL! THEY WILL DIE!!

As will merchants...it kind of svcks when you walk into a town and ALL OF THE MERCHANTS ARE DEAD! :glare:

Haha, just started a new game today, only level 8, and Carlotta Valentia was just killed by a master vampire with his thralls. Good stuff. Makes it more urgent to join the Dawnguard to "save the day".

EDIT: "No man is going to come between me and my daughter". No, but a vampire just did.

Does this diminish in frequency after the questline is done?
