Vampire attacks... Really?

Post » Sun Nov 18, 2012 5:05 am

If this download content starts getting in the way of me having fun and all the shop keepers and quest givers start dying before I can do those quests then bye bye Dawn Guard! there's no reason to make the game even harder by killing important people

At level 57, I haven't had any major problems with this as of yet.

I did get unlucky and get an Ancient Dragon plus the Vampire goon squad at once in Dragon Bridge, though. Had to reload. Was so snared from the Vamps' frost, and so absolutely-on-hot-damn-fire via the lovely stream of fire protruding from the dragon that every guard and just about every civilian died.

Most of my vampire attacks have been on the roads or in the wilderness, though. Apart from the three asshats I got the very second I loaded up my save in Windhelm after installing the dlc.

All in all, not too bad, I suppose. It does lend a constant sense of urgency and paranoia.

However, I see a lot of reloads in my future. I simply cannot stand my npcs dying unwarranted. As others have said - Skyrim's population is far too low for this to go unchecked. Walking into a city or villiage and it being a ghost town is simply not cool.

I'd at least like for the attacks to dramatically decrease if you finish the story for the Dawnguard. However, seeing as this should have happened for Dragon attacks after completing the main quest.... I'm not holding my breath.

What is there to fix? I mean... If there is an invasion, and there is no Vampires invading? I'd question the development team. They did it correctly. In addition, there are no actual quest NPC's being killed. So nothing is actually game breaking.

Like I said in one of my posts; tone how frequent they invade by a little bit. But that's all... I wouldn't change the idea at all. It fits perfect with the DLC theme.

I walked out of my house in Whiterun, after sleeping for the night, came out Belethor was an ash pile, Adiranne was dead, Ulfberth was dead, Ysolda was dead, most of clan Battle-born and Grey-Mane were dead, Heimskr was dead (yay?), Sigurd was an ash pile...

Cough...I sense a problem...

Can it be confirmed that quest givers can't die?

Only those that are essential.

Some quest givers are essential until you complete their required parts in the quest.

Ysolda can not die as long as Sanguine's quest is not completed, Frallia Gray-Mane can not die until her quest is completed, I am unsure about Eorlund as he didn't die in my game as of yet.

People that give out miscellaneous quests can die though.

So between the dragons and the vampires, the main character is going to be the only resident of skyrim.

Pretty much...I had to go back a few saves in order to see where the vampires were, change the difficutly to novice and kill them before they massacared the entire town again...

I shouldn't have to do that... :glare:

I'm anxiously awaiting Hearthfire, where we discover that a werebear plague has broken out and werebears are breaking into the cities, slaughtering the people and eating their faces.
Then in the final DLC, the vampire lords, dragons and werebears team up to form Voltron and wreck havoc on the cities, and only the Dragonborn can stop him by using his new shout: "Turn Off Power" by learning three new words of power; "Collosus," "Energy," and "Fatigue."

Because if strangers on the internet think it, it MUST be true, right?
Then that means....oh god! This random Youtube video was right!: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=chYkhlCon6E

Get objective, dude. The complaints against this specific event are quite legitimate. Dragons were already tedious enough, now we have even MORE tedious random encounters. Just because people don't agree with you all the time doesn't mean they're heathens that should never be allowed to voice their opinion on the game.

I just reloaded Riften three times, and each time at least 4 NPCs died before I could even get close enough to fight.

Definitely going to uninstall it if there really is no way to stop them.

Ugh, lack of refunds ftl.

Ironically this makes me WANT to buy Dawnguard because I hate all of the NPCs I've ever encountered with a burning passion of a thousand suns.

Something tells me being attacked by a vampire lord won't be nearly as annoying as WORKING FOR BELETHOR AT THE GENERAL GOODS STORE.

I suppose he should be, what with this economy.

Yes. Some npcs named Farmers will transform and go hostile. Random encounters, they be.
