I really fail to see why this gets people so bent out of shape. I also fail to see it as being "dumbed down". As a matter of fact that choice of language is beginning to be misused as much as OCD, to the point one starts to even feel insulted just by reading it, even though it it not directed at them.
As I have stated in other threads...
While I may be incline to oppose a feature, I will passionately fight for the right of it to exist. Only the ones that are forced upon the character are openly disputed. However, the ones that grant the ability through the choice of the player, will be unforgivingly supported. I will always welcome options and choice to any game.
You're not seeing the whole picture.
Its not about the actual perk reset, its what will follow in future TES games as a result. Thats why this "then dont use it" mentality is ridiculous. First its perk reset, then its Magicka health stamina reset, then its race reset, then its "You're a stormcloak, but we'll give you the option to join the imperials after"
Skills for example, how many were in Morrowind, like 27? They took a few in Oblivion and now theres like 16 in Skyrim. Unarmed, i loved using unarmed in Morrowind and oblivion because it was a unique way to play after exhausting all other classes. Now it exists only as fists in Skyrim. No bonuses, no trees, no perks no nothing for it. Same with alot of the magic trees. Waterwalking, they said it was useless and not needed and now they've added it back in?
Edit: Sorry, one perk for unarmed which just increases the damage(tied to heavy armor, mind you. Again, restricting choice. unarmed with robes? light armor? nope.). And a pair of gloves that gives a bit of none-scaling damage.
