Watch the Dead Money DLC trailer

Post » Tue May 10, 2011 12:52 pm

This looks really great, only problem is that the trailer spoils the end.
You see yourself dizzied on the ground, an enemy, or most likely your employer (Father Elijah) have betrayed you.
Escape.
Or in New Vegas fashion, get shot in the head and dug into a shallow grave.
Wake up at doc Mitchell's house, oops you killed him, well woopdy-fudgity-doo.

I wonder if we can pull a Snake Plissken at the end and disable/destroy what he wanted after he takes the collars off.

Well... at least its not another OA.

EDIT: Elijah is getting bludgeoned to death, then I'm going to eat his ears.

That's the start of the DLC, not the end.

Wow, I'm the super-minority here. I found that trailer to be dull and lacking. Most of it was of the 'player' walking/running around an empty location. As for the location itself.. it doesn't look part of the NV universe, kinda hard to explain but it doesn't fit with what we've seen in the NV game.. kinda reminds me of 'The Pitt' even down to re-skinning the trogs that (to me) look like the Helghast from Killzone. I dunno, maybe I'm wrong and it's amazing.. but for the now, the jury is still out. I'll wait for some reviews and gameplay videos to turn up on YouTube... can't play and judge it for myself since I'm on the PS3.

what is the story behind dead money?

As it actually relates to the story in the DLC we will have to find out. But the term "Dead Money" is a poker term referring to all the money on the table in a hand of poker where several people call bets and eventually fold out of the hand. Their money left in the pot is referred to as "dead" as they are no longer in the hand to play for it.

Man, I do not understand a lot of my fellow players.

Fallout has had five official PC games now, with three different "genres" of play between them and more than a dozen different locations around the former US (I think that's accurate).

How can anyone state that a location doesn't "look like Fallout" or that the game doesn't have a "Fallout feel" (actually I can sorta get this one)?

Battle Royale was a sick movie.

That was random.

Showler, I don't have any problem with how the town looks.
But how the DLC is presented to me, it feels like a horror/action/adventure thing with sci-fi/supernatural elements tied into it.
It doesn't "feel" like fallout right now.
More like some cinematic action movie, which is something I don't consider Fallout to be.
But again, it might change once I've played the DLC.
And it might not...

Reading the movie description on Wikipedia, not that random really.

Yeah, the feel thing I sorta get. But Fallout strikes me as having evolved into something akin to Star Trek, Star Wars or even DnD. It's a universe and a history and an environment in which to base the game, but wide reaching enough to allow for many different types of game.

I can't see the developers doing something different with a DLC as being a bad thing. I'd rather have them do something different when they are inspired than do something similar when they are just phoning it in.

That movie reminded me of Stephen King's The Long Walk.

And you know this how? XD

Because the creative and project director of the DLC is Chris Avellone.

Too tired to do that. :spotted owl:

I hate it when things evolve...
I know that they can test stuff out with the DLC's and see what we like.
But I dunno.
I just think it's wasted content really.
I'd much rather have Nursery as a DLC.
We're only going to get like 3 to 6 DLC's so they'd better make them count.
So that's why I'm extremely skeptical about this one.
If it turns out to be some horror/action cinematic crap... Then I wonder why they couldn't just have made a DLC for Nursery or Reservation or Dogtown and expanded on some real lore.

(Yep, this is definitely the new REPCONN for me until I've played it.)

And that is probably why this DLC is going to be great I mean he did come up with New Reno.

Dammit. I am kind of pissed now that it looks good. The thought that it's a possibility that I'll miss out on good gameplay and lore because of a stupid deal with Microsoft irks me to say the least. They'd better be quick with this timed exclusive crap.

Maybe it's just me, but the trailer sort of turned me off of it. What I like most about these games is the sandbox play where my character is free to pursue his own agenda, and the whole exploding collar 'do as I say or die' thing looks more like something I'd be wanting to get over and done with rather than sit down and enjoy. I'll probably feel compelled to get it anyhow, because of the inevitable mods that I'll want to play that use it's resources but ... meh.

Well, it probably doesn't "feel like fallout" because it wasn't really hit by the bombs and is supposed to be in pristine condition, save for all the gas and stuff

If i am correct, i will like this place alot because it should have super technology from back-in-the-day

& it makes sense for the Fallout world to be evolving, time is passing by, and civilization is starting up again

I have to say, I'm very impressed. Looks like it's going to be loads of fun. Reminds me a lot of the "Saw" movies in some aspects.
