Lacking in content for the price, but good.

I have to say...I am enjoying every bit of dawnguard, though I'm somewhat disappointed by the vampire castle its still very awesome but could've been added on more and the such, still I love it and I love the amount of references in various areas to previous games and historical events

Spoiler
I died of Morrowind nostalgia when I found Jiub and I love that they used the Morrowind dunmer accent for him.

I'm loving the DLC, the integration into the rest of Skyrim is seamless. Fort Dawnguard is really a sight to see for the first time! The difficulty has definitely been ramped up, I've been in dungeons with seemingly nonstop Draugr Deathlords. All the new weapons, armors and the like really add some freshness to the game. I think Bethesda hit it out of the park - the whole thing feels very expansion-y rather then a couple of missions thrown together haphazardly.

G'Arrgh!! So many spoilers here that the only positive thing about is that I propably already forgot half of them :( On the other hand, still waiting for PS3 release, so I know now to stay away from this topic and hope I forget the last of them. Glad to see it′s worth buying though.

I'd imagine because there's not a whole lot of new landmass, and it's basically just another guild quest. Which is good enough for me, but it is what it is. For example, I don't see the big deal with the crossbow. It doesn't make the game worse, but it's not a meaningful addition.

If you play as a beast race, it svcks. They just look like vanilla vampires and didn't get the visual overhaul. Crossbows are really limited too, those two things kinda killed my excitement for the DLC... Other than that the new weapons/armor/quests are great.

There's two new areas, though. Not going to spoil anything...But both are about the size of point lookout. Add that together? That equals about 2/3s of SI's land mass (maybe a little less); there's new dungeons too. Although SI has more. But it cost more for a reason, ya know?

This also added 2 perk trees. Addressed the lameness that was Vampires and Werewolves. There are wild werewolves. Crossbows!? I love them. More dragons to kill. More creatures to kill. More armor to collect and enchant. Dragon bone weapons? This DLC is more intergrated into the main game that SI was. SI was just...there. You leave and you lose all you powers. That was no fun.

I will admit, looking at the fact that Shivering Isles was only $30, I would say that Dawnguard may be a tad bit overpriced in comparison to that, just because SI gave ALOT of new content. But it has been a few years and perhaps inflation is to blame?

Alot of hidden stuff. Also they added a bunch of new mechanics (Werewolf and Vamp perk tress), a large amount of new dunegons to the base game, 2 large new areas filled with secrets and quests, new side quests to base game, like 8 or more new creatures and even more different varaints, a massive amount of new random encounters, 9 new spells, new books, new Armour , new weapons. A Entirely type of weapons.

It sounds like people just complain just to complain. I mean, other than bugs, if you can't find a legit reason to hate on the add-on? Let's hate on it's content VS price ratio! That's bottom of the barrel for you.

Okay, but Shivering Isles did all that and more......besides the perk stuff, the Shivering Isles added many more new weapons, armor, creatures, a giant new land mass, probably new spells but i can't recall, new books, and a crazy amount of new dungeons and places, and a big Main Quest and a bunch of side quests.....sorry but I'm pretty sure SI wins this one....
