It's a good thing I'm not on console. The whole concept of a vampire lord is just dumb to me. The thing I've always liked about vampires is how they're NOT like werewolves. They're more subtle, and as such more appealing. To add a demonic transformation to that just takes away the appeal, imo.

If you're gonna buy it why bother [censored]ing about it?

Because it's better to voice your opinions when you have problems with something, even if there's enough in it to warrant your business. It's why people complained about the loss of spears and crossbows, even though they bought Skyrim.

Just the ones who don't like it  There had better be something for werewolves as well or else :gun:

For my main characters that I care about most I like the temporary transformations. A choice though of having temporary or doing something special to keep it permanent would be nice. I can think of a few characters that would stay that way full time.

I like temporary transformations too, but I'd like a totem of Hircine or something that you could select that would forgo your howl powers in favor of letting you use the powers button to transform back and forth at will, so if you wanted to you could play the entire time in a transformed state.

yeah i would prefer a toggle. although there is a certain artifact you can obtain to transform at any time. i hope we might see a true "curse" version of lycanthropy though.

Yes, but continuously having to reequip it, its power, and activate it every few minutes gets old really fast.

their default form is just pale with glowy eyes. this special ability is far more interesting from a gameplay perspective imo. How exactly would it be fun or make sense to lay in wait under a single lake, hoping a random npc appears above? the mist thing is kinda neat, but the bat cloud is similar anyways. and wings aside, is more of a throwback to the original movie vampire appearance.

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/5/5e/Nosferatu-movie-poster-11x17-large-style-c.jpg/220px-Nosferatu-movie-poster-11x17-large-style-c.jpg
As a player character you wouldn't just hang out under a lake. But it's still do-able. To simulate their icy grasp, you just add frost damage to unarmed attacks, or give them some touch frost spells.
And they could effectively bring back waterwalking, giving them the ability to freeze the water they walk on, & even move through all of the various solid sheets of ice in the game.
And hey who knows, maybe they'll do something with it that will make it less than awful, stranger things have happened.

I do however entirely fail to see how their visual design is a throw-back to Count Orlok. And Orlok is the Nosferatu you're referring to. Even disregarding the wings they look nothing like him. Tall, emaciated guy with facial features reminiscent of a rat, claws & a slight hunchback /=/ giant hulking monster, with a body builder physique, & an enormous bat head.

They should have added something similar to the Winged Twilight's wings. Not those chicken wings.

The Falmer share more in common with Orlok than the Vampire Lords (minus the lack of eyes I mean).

They do, you put a Falmer in a fancy suit, draw some eyeballs on his lids & you've got yourself a Nosferatu.
I love the Falmer, they're easily on of my favorite things about Skyrim.

I wish they crawled on walls and ceilings. There's some things like their little burrowing tunnels that imply that they would, and it'd be so terrifying to have to constantly look up because you're paranoid that a Falmer is dangling above you.

Yes, holy crap. That would be great. just having them occasionally drop from the ceiling onto, or around you.

False.

Vampires have been present in all five of the TES games, and they have never had bodily "mutations" like you claim. There is no precedent for these new, demonic vampire lords.
....You misunderstood my post.....read the whole thing instead of picking one thing out. My point is that vampires have always look basically like humans, just with minor differences. Thats what I meant by mutations.....My point is that vampires used to lool less creative than now. The fact that people say it's aesthetically dumbed down comparedmto before is rediculous...

buff him up, thats what he'd resemble. the "modern" vampire is a supermodel with fangs, generally speaking.
just giving a few frost spells doesnt seem to be all that much.. But they might have those as well.
but in any case, i think its a bit much to cry about originality when it comes to vampires, especially when this is pretty much the most unique gameplay they've had in the series. used to be you got stat buffs and a handful of spells.

@pettrox, did you not see the trailer?

On tops, I do not mind vampires, it just seems that current pop culture is rife with them. In the last five years numerous vampire-based media has bombarded the world, and I was really hoping for something brand new. That being written, I am looking forward to the DLC, because I will always welcome new content to the game. If I don't like the MQ maybe I will like some of the new items, or NPCs. Please do not pass final judgment based upon a single trailer.

I am going to buy it and play the vampire lord creature. any new way to play in the world of skyrim is great. I just hope that i LIKE playing as a vampire lord. I played as a vampire from levels maybe 25 to 40 and it was lame (took me a long time to figure out how to get cured). we complain because we want to give honest feedback of how we feel about certain aspects of the game. Or else why make any improvments or changes? some people like things like mounted combat, others say it is unbalanced. Its good to have discussions like this. plus in my culture discussion is yelling and critiquing the things we most love :)

In mine too. It usually is accompanied with massive amounts of alcohol and....well, let's just leave it at that.

As I said, Bethesda HAD one. It was called the Volikhar. It was an original idea that could've easily been executed in Skyrim.
The Volikhar were supposed to be able to travel directly through ice and icy waters, and presumably, snow. Imagine walking through the tundra regions of Skyrim to the north-northeast (Windhelm-Winterhold region), paranoid as [censored] because the area is known to be crawling with Volikhar vampires. Imagine if the entire area was typically considered "off-limits" by the public for that very reason, but of course you, as the protagonist, travel through that region. Imagine walking through the icy landscape, knowing that any moment powerful enemies could swoop down on you, and sure enough, they often do. Before you know it, Volikhar vampires (a group of them) appear from the ice walls or directly out of the ice-covered sea/lake below you, initiating a very difficult fight.

That alone would not only be a different way of fighting since they'd get the jump on you, but it would give a portion of the map a very haunted feel, making you conciously want to avoid traveling through there if possible.
i fought volikhar vamps last nite..they looked like regular vamps in black mage robes only with "volikhar" written in their name

I'll be honest, had I not looked up on it and found that it is (mostly) lore correct, I would have been pretty disappointing because....flying vampires seems pretty 'jumpindashark'-ish.
