For the record, I kind of hate threads like this, since their is always some level of platform superiority going on, with people trying to convince others to change their preferences, and taking offense at the slightest insinuation that another person would enjoy playing on one platform over another. And stuff like that really gets on my nerves.
I do agree with that. Some people can't leave well enough alone. I'm sure some of my responses come off as PC elitist, but they're not. I have a 360 and several other consoles, and I love them. I will chime in when someone says something like, "console because I don't have $5,000 to spend on a PC that will be outdated in 3 months," because that's just FUD and misinformation. Also when someone says, "console because I don't like being forced to be hunched over a computer desk using a keyboard," I'm likely to say something. I'm not touting the superiority of the PC so much as correcting misinformation.
The fact is that the PC experience can be whatever you want it to be...it's extremely versatile. However, you have to be willing to get everything set up yourself, which can take some time. The consoles have the (considerable) advantage of being really easy to use and portable, but they lack the flexibility to use the control scheme you want, mod the game if you want, etc. To be honest, the cost of PC vs. console gaming ends up being close to the same all things considered. It's really a matter of whether you want an easy, effortless experience, or if you're willing to put some effort into customizing your experience. Yes, my PC runs games a lot better than my 360, and I can play in my living room on a TV with a 360 controller, but I had to put some effort and know-how into getting there and the initial investment is higher (although it becomes cheaper after that). When I play a game on my 360 all I do is put in a disc.
