What will you play Fallout new vegas on and why?

Anyway, the answer is; PC :brokencomputer:
The Reason; Mods, mods, mods, and more mods.

You literally stole the answer out of my brain word for word. But yeah, mods basically. That and I like the better graphics, and keyboard and mouse way better than a gamepad.

PS3.

If I'm going to spend 2K on a performance machine, it will be chambered in a .223 or .308 :gun:

This is probably the only reasons I would agree with playing console over PC. Guns are much more fun, and I would gladly give up gaming time just to go shooting.

How is a PS3 not a computer? :P

Consoles are basically streamlined gaming computers. They are purely designed with gaming in mind, however, do not confuse that to mean it is a great gaming machine. It is also made with cost in mind, so in short, it is the cheapest gaming computer money can buy, and that is all it does. If you are expecting any graphics above the average "medium" settings, you are SOL.

My vote went to PC. All the other various reasons mentioned by other members apply. (Steam, mods, better graphics, better performance if the engine is well optimized this time, etc)

If I didn't have the great gaming rig I have right now, I'd probably play it on PS3. Newer PS3 games tend to look and perform a bit better than their cousins over on the Xbox 360.

Funny. I used to hate the PS3, but now that's it's finally starting to show it's full potential, I couldn't want one more than I do right now.

Wife and kids are my #1 Priority which pretty much takes up earnings including mortgage, car payments and schooling.

That said: Fishing, Hunting, Palma shooting, and Gaming are my hobbies.

If I want a PC that will run new games at a speed that the PS3 and Xbox does, what do I need altogether price-wise. I'm still looking at 1k+ right?.

I wouldn't mind replacing my Consoles with a PC, but a Console I can keep for a few years and not have to worry about upgrading and spending more money on it outside the games. Are PC's as cheap to maintain as consoles?

I'm curious since I'm a business guy not a tech guy. "IF" I can get a PC that will last 4-5 years with no upgrade, I might spend $600- $800 dollars on it assuming it can truly outdo my PS3 in both terms of longevity and ease of use.

I want it to be noticeably better at that.

No, actually. You have to realise, the consoles are several years old, and hardware has been vastly improved since then. You may even have difficulty building a modern PC as low specced as the consoles - however, the upshot of that is that to run a game at 720p on medium settings (As in, generally about console level) barely takes any hardware anymore, so you're easily looking at that $6-800 price range, and getting significantly more for your money. A fast PC is much better to work on than a slow PC, as well, so even if you weren't a gamer I'd reccomend splashing out (Though obviously you could skip the graphics card in that scenario and knock ~$100 off the price)

Yeah. It was really a rhetorical question, but thanks! :D

PS3, for now. I plan on upgrading my PC next year. Just a minor graphics card upgrade that will allow me to comfortably play some recent games. When I do that, I will make the switch to PC gaming for games like Fable, Mass Effect, Fallout, etc., and sell off my PS3 copies of Fallout 3 and New Vegas. I don't have a lot of money to spend right now, so the PS3 is my best option. Also, I figure by the time I start playing New Vegas on PC, there will be a ton of mods to choose from.

Actually, it turns out I need to upgrade my PSU as well. It is only 300 watts. So... these upgrades will have to wait until well into next year.

My PS3, because you play on a great, big TV, it's got good graphics and it's in HD. And, oh, let's not forget surround sound :)

PC, quality AND performance AND mods, I had considered a PS3 when RDR was released, but I could not overcome the tight restrictive feeling I always get when thinking about consoles.

PC. Quite simply put: I have a good PC that I can run FO3 with all the graphical settings cranked up, so I intend to do the same with New Vegas. Also, DLC is strongly supported on PC. Also, a very strong mod community amongst PC users.

I'll play on my 360 for a couple reasons. While my PC can run it, and with top notch graphics too, I prefer my 360 for a couple reasons. First, I have a 22" monitor, but a 42" HD TV, so while the graphics may be better, I prefer bigger. Also, I have 2 TV's in my living room, for the specific reason that I can play video games while my roommate watches whatever she wants on the TV, I'd rather play down there, on the couch, then sit hunched over my PC in my room all by myself. Finally, I really, really, really svck at FPS with Mouse+Keyboard.

That is the first time I have ever heard of anybody like that. Everybody else I know has an easier time aiming with a mouse and a harder time aiming with a thumbstick.

You can plug your PC into your TV easily, and you can use a controller (Wired, or wireless if you have a bluetooth adapter) with your PC too.

PC, just because I like mouse and keyboard better than a controller and because I can take my laptop with me anywhere. Only use my xbox on multiplayer games with my buddies.

Xbox 360, because that is the only thing that will run it in my house. :)

EDIT: also, for a console user, DLC is so much more of an excitement then to those who frequently get extra parts to their games using mods.
(although given the chance i would so get mods :P )

PC. Honestly, not sure what the attraction is for consoles. I guess ease of use?

Heck of a trade off your throwing away, all the mods you can get. Plus all the tweaks I tend to make myself.

For fallout 2 I designed a piece of armor that simulated madness. It would raise/lower stats, create hallucinations that would try and kill you, occasionally make you think your glowing like a glowing one and occasionally play anti communist propaganda(Hearing voices). Point being, I'd never have been able to try something like that on a console.

For fallout nv, I am thinking of trying something similar but with more of 'the ring' type motif. Creepy girl showing up and trying to off you.

360, because in highschool I took Amiga's side in the pc versus amiga arguments and I'm too stubborn to admit I was wrong.
