Why We Are Mad: The Thread

They can be assigned anywhere on the keyboard; that is effectively the same as having them assigned to a d-pad or shoulder buttons. I'm talking about literally only using the keys 1-9 to fight; that has never been a feature of TES, and going down that road now, foregoing the need to aim anything, would be a bad business decision.

Most all hotbar based mmorpgs let you re assign the keys to where ever you want just like single player games for the most part. Also just about every game uses a hotbar system in one way or another even real-time action combat games. Darkfall, Mortal Online, Mount & Blade, Tera, Kingdoms of Amalur, DDO and many other singleplayer and multiplayer real-time combat games all use hotbars, the main glaring difference is that in most real-time combat systems you use the mouse to left click for attack and right click for block, or magic or what ever style you use where as hotbar based mmorpgs have a target system and attack key system based on the keyboard, not mouse.

Bethesda isn't doing anything (except working on Dawnguard as far as we know). They'll continue to make single player TES games in the same vein as the games they've already made and which are the main reason we're all here.

Do you mean Umrahel that bethesda has nothing to do with TESO????? because i find doubtful that Zenimax will be working in such a huge project based on TES universe and Bethesda is not contributing.....anyways your statement is valid the main reason why most of us are here is because the great joy we’ve had playing Bethesda single player RPG games and curiously enough the very same reason why many TES fans like me are reluctant with the idea of an TES MMO. Thanks for your replay....

Art style and no real-time first-person gameplay are what makes me mad.

It's as if this game was developed by Sheogorath, and he wanted it to have lots of CHEESE!

I think everyone is scared really and not mad

they love TES and they don't want any game related to TES to have even the slightest chance of failure

I'm disappointed because the game is formula MMO even though I love that formula the best.

I would like the game to be more open world, sandbox, have a skill system similar to the current system, and first person view. Also the graphics need to be more realistic rather than cartoon.

I dont know if they should even call this game a TES game. Its derivative

It does seem like more and more of a spinoff, doesn't it?

Yes a spinoff. I dont think you can call this a mainstream TES game.

Battlespire was the same. Its also made by a different development team and company. its a spinoff just like Laverne and Shirley was from Happy Days

Tbf to them they didn't set out to make a mainstream game. Can't complain too much I guess.

I know things have to be changed to make the transition to a new genre but I'm worried they are changing too much. I dont find that lore all that compelling in these games anyway. its the battles, exploration, the character development, the feel that you are really teh character with the first person view that I like. The main quest in all these games is ultra short and very lame. Its the other things you do to pass the time which is fun

"Not all provinces are included in their entirety; Zenimax Online is keeping large areas inaccessible to save them for use as expansion content. Nonetheless, every major area is represented to some extent." Thats blantantly telling us they're releasing the game unfinished.
This one caught my eye. You have to just be finding some fault with everything they've said (which isn't much anyway).

You're complaining about not being able to explore all of Tamriel right off the bat? You've got to be kidding. It's not an unfinished game, it's how they want the expansion packs to be set up, and think about how massive, and how long it would take to recreate all of Tamriel. TESO wouldn't be out until like mid or late 2014 if this was the case. You realize, that in WoW vanilla, not all of Azeroth was released right? There was no Uldum, no Twilight Highlands, no Vash'jir... Those are all part of Kalimdor and the Eastern Kingdoms, the two main landmasses of the game.

I admit that I am a bit concerned about how this game turns out, because if it goes badly then us Elder Scrolls fans will be mocked to no extent. This game won't be much of a WoW clone, the only thing similar is the action bar (which isn't that similar at all) and possibly the quest system and a fraction of the combat is based loosely off of WoW. WoW has no stamina bar which allows every class to sprint, interrupt, dodge, etc. etc. all the same as the others. The only reason they don't have a real time combat system is because it would lag the hell out of the game.

As for graphics. Seriously? You want them to go all Skyrim with this game? It's an MMO. Which means a lot of little entities at the same time. Something that hasn't been done with TES before (not in this way anyway). Unless you like playing at 12 frames, you'd better thank them for simplifying the art.

Back to combat. If you read anything about this game, the combat is almost nothing like WoW's. As I just said, Stamina Bar. The spine of the combat system so it would seem. After that, I believe I heard you get a few abilities to use, and the rest depends on weapons/armour. Not to mention, there is no tank, no heals, and no dps. It's fend for yourself and if someone wants to help then lucky you.

Touching back to questing. Sure I'm guessing that questing will be pretty similar to WoW's, as in "Go to Questgiver > Get Task > Perform Task > Return > Rewards" Oh wait. Isn't that what all quests are like? I'm pretty sure WoW doesn't let you become the Emporer of Tamriel at the end of their QLs.

In all honesty, this game may not live up to what some of the other, more popular MMO's, like Guild Wars or WoW, but it's a start. I'm really hoping that Bethesda will kind of keep Zenimax in check to make sure that a total embarrassment to the MMO world isn't unleashed with all the hype it'll get. And at least Zenimax is designing it, and not some weird, never-been-heard-of company.

i dont like the art style and the combat system. when more info comes to light iam always able to change my mind at this point i dont like what iam seeing, but i might change my mind down the road

Most likely wont though, considering its just trying to clone WoW.

Like it or not, it is.

That is the fact at this point.

Nothing anyone says can change it now.

Oh well.

svcks to be them, wont be very profitable and ill never buy a ZeniMax title again.

Not that i ever did.

Well that right there, sir is the sole essence that determines whether it's a WoW clone or not.

There isn't a single released screenshot that shows anything hovering over anyone's head, question-mark-shaped or otherwise.

You only need to use left click on TES and maybe one other button for healing. So using 9 buttons is 7 more than you have to think about currently.. You have any idea what manual aim turns into during large pvp battles? Mages throwing AEs everywhere and the melee missing everything because of the lag..twitch combat just doesnt work that well in an MMO setting.

1st person combat has a similar issue in that you cant keep track of whats going on around you and that is crucial in group content.

You may be correct, but what do I expect from my TES titles, for them to do what others are unable or unwilling. I'm not getting that here.

For me, TES games have always been a step above the rest, and for that I am whole heatedly dedicated to the franchise. And even with so little to go on, the hero engine and poor art style are enough for me to say. No thanks.

I'm happy that I finally will be able to adventure all of Tamriel with a group of friends. That will be the single greatest thing this series has ever seen. I also couldn't be happier that this series is finally branching out and is no longer playing it safe. We can only hope that TESO will ensure that at least some kind of multiplayer/Co op will be included from here on out. The single player games have grown stale and each iteration has continued to focus on the casuals more and more. If my single player experience is going to continue to be gutted and dumbed down, at least let me enjoy it with a group of friends.
oh okay,But isnt mmos for "casuals" ? I am curious how this game will see, mostly looking forward to see other provinces,And look how morrowind looks like in that game,
