Will Bethesda ever fix atomic Nirnroot glows?

Post » Sat May 05, 2012 12:23 am

I play on the 360 and haven't seen the "still glows after picking" issue recently, so I assumed it was fixed by one of the patches.

Same here. I haven't seen it happen on the 360.

Could you go into more detail about how you are trying to copy your save files to an external flash drive? I know that the Xbox automatically uses 512 MB of any flash drive you first try to use (that whole configure thing you mentioned), but assuming you are using at least a 1 GB flash drive, that should be plenty of space for a few save files if each one is less than 20 MB in size. I use a flash drive to store Dragon Age: Origins save files since the game stupidly has a 10 character creation limit, and never had any problem like what you're describing.

I navigate to settings on the Xbox, then storage. I get to the Skyrim game, open that up, select the save file in question, the the options to copy move or delete show up.... I choose copy. I also note that the files appear hidden... I mean this isn't rocket science but sheesh! I am baffled here. I do have the game installed to the Xbox hd - if that is relevant.

Here's a daytime pic of the nirnroot atomic glow near the south wall of Whiterun (Xbox 360). Again, there is actually no nirnroot there, it got picked a while ago and hasn't grown back: http://img41.imageshack.us/img41/9756/20120410160.jpg

What a joke.

For me the worst glows are the ones in areas I frequent the most. Nirnroots I find for the first time (first time visiting a particular cell) leave a glow after harvesting that can barely be seen, even at night. But for those areas I visit often, you can tell I go there often by how bright the glows are.

The nirnroot in your screenshot happens to be an area I visit quite a bit, which compounds the glow stacking problem.

Really do hope they get fixed ASAP, I have given up on hunting down every nirnroot, it just cannot be done.By the time you clear one area and move on the area before just respawns so it's an endless cycle, I try to focus on those that are in high foot traffic areas so as to not end up with a gamma ray explosion. The most layers that I have counted on one plant was 10/11 I think it was but I'm sure there are more when it comes to the nirnroots that I don't bother to pick. It's also starting to become a chore trying to avoid the respawn issue as well, so the atomic nirnroot added to the respawn issue = a trip from Whiterun to Riffton(that should take around an hour real time) now takes 2 days (real time) so as to avoid interrupting the respawn clock and adding a new glow to the nirnroots by doing a complete circle around the map instead of being able to back track.

Yesterday my character walked up to Avrusa Sarethi's nimroot farm. The stacking there had gotten so bad that in the middle of the day (1 PM) as Sarethi walked away, she disappeared into the glow! My character was standing at the edge of the nimroot field. I can imagine what that looks like at night!

I assure you the glowing bug is there on the 360 version in its full glory. I make it a priority to pick up the damn things as soon as I see them (and they're hard to miss now), but there is one nestled inside a log off the Northern coast that cannot be picked up. I imagine that one eventually will prevent me from entering the area without crashing.

Of course it doesn't happen on the 360. It's their favorite platform.

What doesn't happen on 360? If you mean the atomic nirnroot, then your misinformed it most certainly does happen. If I walk past that nirnroot farm out by Rifton it looks like Vegas, and there are radioactive spots all over my map.

I PMed Gstaff about it, but he hasn't read yet. I guess his inbox is full.

We PC users have 3 different mods to fix it, but console users have nothing. It's strange Bethesda haven't noticed this issue themselves, or at least the many complaints about it.

Well with the MMO just announced and DLC just over the horizon I think us console players are out of luck ( for now ) but that's just my thoughts.

Will this bug always occur or is of possible that with a New 1.5 character it won't happen? Are there players who have not had this problem at all?

Nope it's been there for me since day 1 of release and I have made 10-11 toons, the only way it seems to be able to avoid it is to pick every nirnroot on the map as you go but even then you will manage to miss a couple. I think there is 160 something nirnroots on the world map, I tried to just always pic the ones that I pass by the most. But even then it became tedious and time consuming, I bought the game to explore and to loop off heads not to play gardener/janitor of Skyrim so I gave up on the whole clean up thing and will retire my toon's as their save files become to buggy to play.

So it will certainly happen no matter what. It is not a bug that might not occur for me? If will always happen.

As long as you don't pick em they will stack their glow, and if you pick one that has started the atomic glow, the glow will remain. There are 3 bugs that have been in the game on all platforms since day 1 , and all 3 have been ignored since day one.

not caring != not noticing

There are tons of bugs they have 'noticed' but they simply do not care. No good reason bugs like this shouldn't already have been squashed.

If you think nirnroot stacking is bad try having your controller simply not work when you press a button.

Happens on PS3 since 11-11-11 and they won't even bother to comment on it.

Maybe bs can give an official statement about this bug which clearly ruins the game every single time? I do not understand how they can let this slide for such a long time. The dark souls team apologized for a few framerate dips and we have yet to hear anything from bs about the nirnroot bug...
