Will Bethesda ever fix atomic Nirnroot glows?

Post » Fri May 04, 2012 10:32 am

I'm left with three choices......

1. Turn a blind eye to it and enjoy the game for 100 or so hours, only for it to start to be buggy or become sooOOOoo buggy that I have to start a new game.

2. Play janitor/ weed man on top of being the almighty dragon born which kinda svcks the fun out of the game.

3. Put this copy of Skyrim on the shelf and wait a year or two for the game of the year award edition.

All cause Beth. is turning a blind eye to these two major bugs that have been in the game since day one.
but at least they're vocally active and letting us know why our expectations are not getting met, right?

How do you stop the glow from stacking though? Make sure we harvest them the first time we enter a cell?

I have NO IDEA why they continue to ignore this issue?? Maybe they figured no one would go beyond the 100hr mark?? I'm on build number 6 right now and 2 of those where 210+ hours, the other two 150+ hours. All down the tube cause they became to buggy to play, due to the issues I've described causing save file bloat, and none of the quick fixes that have been floating around for console have worked(long term).

There are more than 5 mods to fix this on PC, proving that it could be hotfixed by the official staff in a manner of hours...

From what I've read, yes this is what you would have to do to keep the glows from stacking. But considering the fact that the nirnroots respawn, this would soon turn into a time-svcking chore.

Yep, and I really don't know exactly just how big a cell is. Is it as big as the compass can see( when the compass shows a dark marker for an undiscovered location) or is it bigger? Anyway you need to pick all nirnroots in that cell every time you enter it to avoid getting the stacking glow, and even then I don't know if the glow stays after picking and the new glow just stacks on top which leads down a endless cycle.

Fine and dandy for PC players but us console players are left to hang.

It'd be nice to hear from Bethesda about this, to know that they are aware of the problem and are working toward a solution. It'd go a long way toward restoring credibility in my eyes.

Gstaff? Anyone?

Exactly, and until then us console players are left walking on egg shells as to weather or not play the game and have it bug out, or play the game as Willie the janitor born. But we get new kill cams soon
^^ not trying to be sarcastic, I really can't wait to see what their like and I have chose to just play the game but I just hope there isn't any unforeseen problems on the console itself caused by these bugs.

Check out the 360 side of the tech. issues forum, there have been people screaming for an answer since shortly after release but none comes. There is even a continual thread just like the screen shot thread on this forum.

edit: here is the newest thread on the npc thing, the nirnroot and the crappy textures on xbox has been on the go from almost day one

As I said before: besthesda i'm sure are working on this. however, i'm quite positive there's far more variables at play which is causing your file size to be big other than nirnroot glow. I've been picking these svckers up when I get a chance and my save after 200 + hours is 11MB on PS3. It depends on what you done in the game and other scenarios as well.

It's a combination of little bugs from stuck quest items in my inventory, garbage left by dead baddies throughout the map, the stacking nirnroot glow, etc...etc... all of which has either been said it was fixed and not or just ignored from day one. I can understand fixing buggy quest and such but maybe the underlying cause of current and old bugs is the combination of all of the above. A little news or a heads up as to what's being done to correct or try to correct is all I'm asking for.
My largest was 16mb on a toon that lasted 230+ hours, after 4 of these I'm now down to 2 toons with 8-9mb save files and it's like playing a virgin game.

I'll try to keep this thread going for a while, maybe we'll hear from Gstaff or someone else from Bethesda regarding this issue. Feel free to post your own experiences with this issue on this thread, add screenshots, etc. The more people that come forward and state that they have had to deal with this bug, the stronger a case we'll have. Hopefully Bethesda will take this seriously (if they aren't already) and confirm that this problem does indeed exist and that they are working on a solution.

Hopefully they see that it's not an isolated bug but an all around bug that even PC has, but they have mods to fall back on to fix issues themselves.

It is a chore and it does seem to be the only way to *delay* the game from falling apart. I've been fairly dutiful in cleaning up after baddies and picking nirns* and at lvl. 49, 500 hrs, my save is (last time I checked) 12mb and my game hasn't broken or exhibited the other associated problems. However, I now tend to follow rivers instead of roads (to pick nirns -- duh) when travelling and so I get to experience even less of the random AI. I suspect that a full 20% of my in-game time is spent playing janitor and weed hunter. Once I'm done with this playthru (which may very well end prematurely simply because of the chore-factor), I'm done with Skyrim until this gets fixed.

I just noticed it the other day for the first time. It's harder to notice during the day but at night it looks like Chernobal. I didn't really notice lag that I know of, I didn't really pay attention to that.

In any case, it's something that does need to be fixed.

Guys, be calm
Your nirnroot-fix is coming!
I believe the new v1.5.26.0.5 includes this fix...
At least it's fixed perfectly in my (PC) game.
(However it could have been the unofficial patch USKP v1.3, which fixes pages & pages of stuff)
Anyway it's fixed, and it will soon reach your platform as well.

And guys - be a bit humble,
I wouldn't be specifically insulting Todd Howard like that, heheh...
(As if that is going to help accomplish anything.)

It doesn't really lag, but it causes bloat.
