Will Bethesda ever fix atomic Nirnroot glows?

Post » Fri May 04, 2012 7:46 pm

Yes. Things like the stacked glows, ash piles that don't get cleaned up and weapons left on the floor all contribute to save file bloat, which leads to longer loading times and eventually increasing lag.
Didn't 1.4 fix the ashpiles? I swear I read that a few weaks ago. But I remmber the ash piles in FO3 and now New Vegas. Then J. E. Sawyer said on formspring that it was not a bug, as it worked the same way as in FO3, implying it wasn't a problem. Pissed me off. Anyways. :homestar:

I haven't been to Sarethi Farm ( where there are supposed to be 8 Nirnroots all growing together), does anyone know if it's supposed to look like this:

https://s3.amazonaws.com/static.16bugs.com/6328/lzwc2d/yreswa/Nirnroot-Glow_tn.jpg

http://images.wikia.com/elderscrolls/images/a/a6/TESV_2011-12-03_16-47-02-88.jpg

I can't imagine how bright those would be if they started stacking. According to the Elder Scrolls wikia page, the 8 Nirnroot outside are supposed to respawn after a few days...

If anyone happens to have their own screenshot of their very own nuclear reactor, feel free to share!
That picture is normal. As for the problem of the glows stacking, I havn't had it yet.

What annoyed me regarding nirnroot was when doing the crimson quest in back reach and the sound effects that the dungeon game gave off was a lot of the same sounds the nirnroot give off so it made it damn difficult to find them by ear! The glow was all I had going for me lol

AFAIK, and don't trust me on this, normal enemies ash cleans up, but don't go killing too many named npcs with disintegration, or raising them.

Crimson nirnroot respawns unlike normal nirnroot. Also it has the highest damage health poison magnitude of all ingredients besides the single jarrin root. http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Damage_Health Combine them with riverbetty for epic poison damage.

I thought normal nirnroots DO respawn, which is one reason this problem is so annoying; the source of the problem is never permanently removed.

They didn't in Oblivion, which is why many assumed they wouldn't in Skyrim (for some, in some games, they don't respawn). In my game, they stack and the chore-like pressure of having to pick them is either annoying or downright frustrating (depending upon my mood and RP-game circumstances).

Fortunately I caught onto the glowstack, improper enemy weapon and arrow cleanup early enough in my game that by playing janitor and weed hunter I've managed to keep my save file relatively small (500'ish hrs., lvl 49 and 12mb). From the many reports in the xbox forum, save files approaching 18mb or higher seem to be when the crashes/freezes, inability to load areas, and frequent lags tend to start up and escalate.

I love this game, but their (apparent) inattention to this issue really peeves me. I gave up numerous games in Oblivion because of the A-Bomb they never fixed. If every subsequent playthru requires the janitor/weed-picking chores I'm enduring now because it never gets fixed, I'll be severly disappointed.

I hope they fix it, its near impossible to track down all the nirnroots and pick them all just to escape the glows, i hope they fix this.

According to uesp, there are 161 nirnroots outdoors ... all respawning for me, all stacking glows if not picked. Near impossible is not an exaggeration, and it's a pita to keep a handle on it while also trying to, well, stay immersed and enjoy playing.

I agree it feels like I an babysitting this game because if its bugs, several of my nirnroots look like a party is going on. I hope they fix this with the next patch.

I have spent about hundred hours on my still first character and yesterday, I saw it for the first time. And it was not a single nirnroot, it was a whole nirnroot farm near Ivarstead. From miles ahead, I was sure I was approaching an Oblivion gate.

Any idea how Bethesda missed something like this? I mean seriously, you pick a nirnroot, and notice that the area around it is still glowing, how do you miss that? If it happens at night when it's dark it is impossible to miss.

PLEASE BETHESDA, this is what ruined my first playthrough. 150+ hours wasted because of lag, freezes, and quests/misc quests not progressing. I would much rather have these gamebreakers fixed than have kill cams for bows/magic, without a doubt.

Agreed, there's no point in adding new kill cams if we can't even play our games.

I feel this way too. Running from an angry bandit? Pursuing a wounded dragon? Better stop and grab that damn root if you here the noise.

And don't you dare leave a sword on the ground after killing an enemy, or let a stray arrow be left lying. how ridiculous.

Because they did hardly any testing at all. There QA was too busy trying to get fast at the game than actually look for problems..http://www.bethblog.com/2011/10/13/jeff-vs-sam-ii-the-skyrim-speedrun/

To anyone who hasn't seen the glow of a nirnroot being left behind after it's been harvested, here's a link to a youtube video showing this bug:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-c-segH6CRs

The guy in the video is playing on the PC and uploaded the video less than month after Skyrim was released. This problem has existed for quite a long time, I still can't believe Bethesda missed and hasn't released a fix for it yet.

Kudos to caleb68 for providing the link to the video (albeit in a different topic)!

I don't understand how it was missed either. Even worse, I don't know how/why they haven't (as far as I know) even acknowledged that the problems exists ... still.

Bethesda acknowledging that the problem exists (and apparently has for quite some time) would be great, they can't fix what they are not aware of. I hate having to hold my breath for the next patch. Here's to another couple months of disappointed waiting.

I was not aware that this was a glitch before someone said so. It has never bothered me
Same here I thought it was supposed to happen lol

i'm sure besthesda will get around to it. Far more important bugs/glitches to focus on like quests.

Not for me this has been the most serious bug I've ever encountered. Luckily I haven't had any quests bug on me to the point where I couldn't complete them or reloading a previous save wouldn't fix them. But reloading a previous save doesn't remove the glows stacking, which bloats the save file.

ABSOLUTELY! It may sound dumb, but I am genuinely upsetbthatvi had to role a new game because of the bugs, and I suspect this contributed. I had 350+hours, level 63, and was about to wrap it up and finally do the Civil war....

My save files (Xbox) had grown to 19 megs.... Areas wouldn't load, I'd get flat, empty screens entering areas, and raids, well, I couldn't travel for more than a few minutes without a hard freeze.

Bethesda just doesn't care too much..... They essentially said restart a new game. But if the problem is still there - why bother!? It'll only happen again.

Exactly why start a new character if in the back of your mind you know it will eventually be as unplayable as your previous characters? That kind of ruins it right from the get-go. Like a ticking time-bomb.

Maybe the reason I havn't experienced this yet is ebcause I always pick them the first time I encounter them. They are very easy to spot and hear with that loud humming sound.

Anyways has anyone had the actual plants respawn? I know the glow effect spawns ontop of the original, but waht about the actual plant respawning or stacking? I know the ones on the Serethi farm respawn.
