Will Bethesda ever fix atomic Nirnroot glows?

Post » Fri May 04, 2012 6:30 pm

Exactly why start a new character if in the back of your mind you know it will eventually be as unplayable as your previous characters? That kind of ruins it right from the get-go. Like a ticking time-bomb.

Not only that, but the fact that I know my real job in skyrim is a janitorial job and I'm the "dragon born" during my off time . And you also need to keep an eye on the keys in your inventory, which I always forget to do, which can also lead to save file bloat.I'm on toon #6 right now and it's mostly due to load times and freezes that I've created so many toon's not cause I'm haven sooOOoo much fun playing the game.
Remember that GTA style spiderman game that released for playstation and xbox(first gen. xbox and PS2 I think it was) it had the same issues which lead to save file bloat wich lead to currupt save files which finally lead to my very first xbox crashing and displaying the "red ring of death". If this is the end result of playing Skyrim, then Beth. will recive a very nasty letter and probably a request for payment for repairs or even the need to purchase a new console.(Hopefully it doesn't come to that :tes: )

This is how the Nirnroots work from my understanding.
When you visit a new cell if there are any Nirnroots in it they will spawn. A cell re-spawns every 10 days, as long as it is NOT visited. So when you revisit a cell before the 10 day mark it will reset the timer.
So If you pick up a Nirnroot, and come back 10+ days later, the Nirnroot will have re-spawned along with a new glow. IF you failed to pick up the Nirnroot and have not revisited the cell after 10 days the original Nirnroots will have replaced and a new glow will be put on top of the old one. But if you picked it up the Nirnroot will be re-spawned along with a single layer of glow.
So you can either avoid visiting a cell where you know there are a lot of Nirnroots, pick them up every 19 or so days, or revisit the cell every 9 days to prevent the Nirnroot and glow from re-spawning.

Edit: Cell re-spawn may actually take 15 days.

I ask myself if Beth will ever "fix" anything with those patches... I'm still having crashes when loading games that have non-loaded data, upon leaving Tusked fort the water drippings remain, now followers have 2 hunting bows and if you take them they will auto-generate others... people on forums still complaining on Blood on Ice quest... there are of course other issues that indeed were fixed but I can't remember right now... so for nirnroots glow, yes... mods have already fixed that and its mostly likely that Beth will too...

I didn't pick up Skyrim to be a janitor.

Sneak peak at 1.6 patch notes:
nonspecific performance & memory optimization
added blood effect when entering npc dialog
nirnroot glow stacking problem doubled
repaired broken ranged kill cam (its still broken, but meh)
added dialog when NPC is low on health:
...FINISH HIM!

LOL ... so true, so true. I'm quickly losing interest in my character because of this, despite not having completed the MQ or any major faction quests yet. I suppose I could rush through run or more of the quest lines while ignoring the janitorial duties -- all along hoping I reach the *end* before they break the game -- but, meh, playing like that isn't immersive for me. And, frankly, most of the storylines that I've seen thus far are far inferior to those in my imagination and by themselves aren't worth the effort.

A game that heavily encourages exploration has a bug that is exasperated by...exploration. Do you see the irony Bethesda?

I have no idea how long this bug has existed, but if this youtube video is any indication,

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-c-segH6CRs

it has been around almost since the game was first released.

Nope still not fixed, I want to know if I remove a nirnroot does it re-spawn? If not would it be possible to eliminate as many as possible to reduce the effect toward save file bloat.

How do you avoid this?

Best I can figure is that every time you enter an area you need to pick every nirnroot with-in that area.Weather or not they re-spawn I don't know.

They do respawn.

Damit !!! So no matter how hard I try, I will forever have to pick all nirnroots in an area to avoid the glow stacking. Weed control in other words

Just checked, I can confirm that Nirnroot does respawn. Went back to Honningbrew Meadery southeast of Whiterun, the nirnroot that grows under the bridge had respawned. The nirnroot that grows north/northwest of Pelagia Farm along the river also respawned, so it's not an isolated case.

O.k you guys just answered one of my questions over in the 360 tech. issue forum, it's impossible to avoid the "atomic nirnroot" bug
So on top of being the Dragon born by day, you also burn the candle on the other end playing weed control and janitor by night  Guess I'm stuck just playing a Skyrim hunting game instead of Skyrim cause on top of the nirnroot issue there is a NPC spawn issue when clearing an area and returning too early and interrupting the " re-sppawn clock" causing the NPC's to not re-spawn.Which makes me paranoid about engaging bandits on my travels, so I'm stuck hunting the wild life, or just playing the game for 100 or so hours and end up with a character build that is broken or on the way to being broken  Really hope they fix it soon.

Carrots, you have a dungeon respawn bug? I've cleared 150+ dungeons on my 200+ hour character and none of the bandits inside will respawn. When you say "NPC's" are you referring to bandits/draugr/enemies?

Yep, you know that fort just down from Whiterun on the way to Solitude, just after the guard tower that you fight the first dragon during MQ. Anyway, that fort has been cleared on my Conan build for over 20hr real time, apparently the way it works is if you clear an area of baddies then return 2 days after you interrupt the re-spawn clock which takes 4 days or something like that to re-set, and instead of stacking into a 6 day wait for a re-spawn the clock gets broken or something and the NPC or baddie will not re-spawn. Try it out, go to that giant camp just out side Whiterun and wipe it clean of all life, then go back to Whiterun wait a day or 2 go back to that giant camp to interrupt the clock and wait one month back at Whiterun, I can guarantee that the giant camp will remain a ghost town the rest of your days.

Yes they respawn, no they aren't fixed.

In skyrim we console players have two full time jobs. We are first janitors (picking up everybody's dropped weapons) and secondly gardeners (pruning those pesky nirnroots). In you spare time you may get a chance to try being the dovakhin too.

I'm left with three choices......

1. Turn a blind eye to it and enjoy the game for 100 or so hours, only for it to start to be buggy or become sooOOOoo buggy that I have to start a new game.

2. Play janitor/ weed man on top of being the almighty dragon born which kinda svcks the fun out of the game.

3. Put this copy of Skyrim on the shelf and wait a year or two for the game of the year award edition.

All cause Beth. is turning a blind eye to these two major bugs that have been in the game since day one.

I guess finding nirn roots really isn't a problem with that.
That's pretty damn funny actually. I haven't see that happen with my game yet.

It's not funny at all, it contributes to lag and save file bloating.AND it's a simple fix that bethesda should have done

I was hoping that they wouldn't re-spawn so one could do as much damage as possible picking nirnroot as they go, but if they re-spawn then it becomes a tiresome chore.
