I don't buy very many games at full price but the most memorable two were Oblivion and Hearts of Iron 3.

That would have to be Aliens vs Predator, the new one

Not quite that bad, but definetly "Steam sales" material.

That's more-or-less how it went.

You're not doing to badly when the worst game is "meh"

Dragon Age 2. I got the signature edition without pre-ordering because I found it on the shelf in JB Hi Fi for $5 more than the normal game.

Played it, uninstalled it, put it on shelf. Its remained there ever since.

The worst game I've ever actually bought was Mercenaries 2. But I don't buy alot of games, and I enjoyed even that for a while.

But that's why I use Gamefly. I never have to worry about buying a game that I don't like, because I can play it first, then buy it if I really like it.

I WOULD'VE regretted Brink if I actually bought it. I rented it because I saw it at a Redbox and I didn't have much cash. Way to small to be a full price game.

Starcraft II - Bought into all the hype, found it to be very mediocre as far as strategy games go. Definitely should've done more research before purchasing.

Well your in luck if you still have the game. I could be wrong since companies certainly change over time, but I believe Blizzard still has top support for their games. I remember downloading a Diablo 2 patch a couple months ago. Diablo 2 came out in like 1999 or something like that. It was a long time ago anyway. They work very hard to polish their games even after release.

What pissed me off the most is that instead of watching the others fight in a lobby, you get to, as my friend put it "watch two cards butt-[censored] for five minutes or more while you wait for your turn." Even after that, you had to wait a month and pay ten bucks for two characters that were already on the disc. The story was really barebones too. Rather than have the fully voiced and animated character intros and endings seen in http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9R-HvhcS44s&feature=related, you get http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lhed6DHh-Sw Plus, most of the music was godawful, there's STILL no replays or a replay channel (to my knowledge), and the online play was unbearable due to lag and connection issues. And don't even get me strarted on Simple Mode. [censored] dumbest design choice ever...

Capcom had something great with SFIV, and they [censored] it up with MvC3.

/rant

I played MVC3 for fighting and rating against my friends, I could care less about music, story, endings,

Heck, this a fighting game, we dont even need that kind of content, let that for other genres

I was actually thinking of getting Divinty II. I've seen several comments saying it's pretty bad. What's wrong with it?

I quite enjoyed it. It wasnt "bad", just "average". The first half of the game is quite boring until you unlock your Dragon form. The Dragon Knight Saga version fixes a lot of problems with the original game and makes it much more enjoyable.

The original game suffered from ridiclously difficult enemies, performance problems and a pretty crap ending (which is fixed and made reasonable with the expansion that comes with DKS)

Red faction: Armageddon

What a poopile compared to Guerilla. I even researched it.

I want to say New Vegas, but thats a little unfair. I had a lot of fun with the game, but it didn't really meet my expectations. I think there was more that pissed me off, but I don't remember them.

Ah, thanks Robbio. Though that kinda sounds like Gothic 3 unpatched. I'll probably get Knight Saga then. Does anyone have a problem with Risen as I was thinking of picking that up as well?

To add to the conversation, while I haven't bought most of these games I've played them and realize they don't deserve full price.

Two Worlds II - I was actually going to the series another shot until a friend let me borrow it. The first couple areas are pretty good it just goes downhill after that imo. Still might get it when it fall to around 10$.

Duke Nukem Forever - Truly an abomination. IT should be classified as a light puzzle solver with little gunplay. I would have liked the game better if it had been like the older games.

Dragon Age II - I don't hate it as much as most but I shouldn't have bought it at full price.

For full price? Full price is hard. I don't regret games I get for full price, typically, but I guess it could be Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood. The story seemed rushed, the gameplay didn't get too much and, for whatever reason, the PS3 version had a lot of stuttering the first two didn't have (and they were also PS3 versions). The case came damaged (well, actually the cover art did... it was all wavy... like it had been soaked), too. It was still a fun game I played to completion but that's the most disappointment I've ever had from a full price game.

If you do get Risen, get it for the PC. It blows on the console.

The thing is, Capcom proved that they could make a good story with SFIV. With MvC3, they just pretended like it never even happened. If they're even going to bother putting a story in there at all, which is the reason the game was subtitled 'Fate of Two Worlds', don't you think they should put some effort into it?
With the music, you hear a characters theme every time that character comes out on screen. For me, most of the music ranged from 'meh' to 'horrible'. I found that those particular tracks detracted from my enjoyment of the game, because I really had no option to avoid them. Capcom has proved time and time again that they can make good music for their games, and then we get Capcom's music being 'barely passable' to Marvel's being largely 'ok'.

The gameplay mechanics were rock solid, I'm not going to argue that, but everything else, from the presentation to the characters, just felt lackluster.

Agreed. I got it on the PC (through Steam which accidently let me buy it even though its banned here in Australia :D) and found it to be a sort of improved Gothic 3 in a different setting. Although the game does feel smaller than G3, I still had fun with it.

The console port is awful though. You can tell its bad even when the developer themselves admits the console version was rubbish.

Red Dead Redemption (mostly because I sold the superior Alan Wake to put towards it. Free copy with new Xbox though =) )
Fable 2
Mass Effect 2 ( not what I was expecting)
Oblivion ( not what I was expecting. Planning on rebuying though, so yeah . . . well, it's been five years )

What was the worst game you've ever paid full price for? The Getaway (PS2)
Did you do any research before you bought it? NO
Why did you decide to get it? Still don't know
How long into the playing did you regret making that purchase? 5 minutes
Did you managed to convince a retail clerk to take it back? Yeah...for 30 bucks less than I paid...stupid gamestop.

I've got one more. It doesn't really count since I bought it when it was $20, but it's not even worth that so it's worth mentioning. Mercenaries 2. I was expecting something similar to Mercenaries 1 with entertaining destruction, fun missions, and the original's "go anywhere, destroy anything" concept. What I got was a glitchy mess that wasn't even remotely fun to play. Shame on EA for completely ruining what should have been an excellent sequel.

I rarely buy full price games anymore, so it's difficult to even remember the last lousy one i got. Probably Medal of Honor Airborne or Splinter Cell Chaos Theory. They weren't terrible games, but MoH was just absurdly short and SCCT had that stupid Starforce DRM...ugh. They weren't worth the $40 paid for them.

I didn't have those problems. Odd. I still play it to this day.

Could the problems (the technical ones, I mean) be platform-specific? I recently bought some charity pack that included Uncharted 1, Mercenaries 2, and Tomb Raider: Underworld for $30 for my PS3 and am a bit curious about these supposed problems.

I suppose it could be. I got mine for the 360.

I must have been pretty unlucky then. I played it through to the end and could barely get through a mission without running into some glitch or another. The one that annoyed me the most and seemed to happen constantly was the inconsistent vehicle damage. Sometimes I'd barely clip or tap a building and catch fire when the vehicle was at full health or nearly at full health. Other times I could hit a building head on at top speed and bounce off like the entire front end of the car was made of rubber. Or just clip entirely through the building, that was always fun. :brokencomputer:

EDIT: All of this was on 360 as well.
