For werewolves, and VL I would at least like the option of 1st person. Do I care that there isn't no.

I always use 3rd person mostly anyway. Would I like a first person? Sure.

ps: Werewolves have been around since Daggerfall. not very new. Daggerfall, Morrowind's Bloodmoon expansion and Skyrim have werewolves, not sure about Oblivion

The amount of slippery slope thinking the OP is partaking in is astounding.

Bethesda still hasn't fixed the dual wield bug that won't show both weapons on your character. Do you honestly think they're going to fix this?

I would love to hear the reasoning behind making this 3rd person only, if only for curiousity's sake.

It seems like basic, common logic that some players might prefer 1st person mode, and it's not like the vampire lord and werewolf would fail to function in first person mode.

I prefer third person myself, unless using a bow then I switch to first but there is no real reason for limiting the view, same with horse riding and Werewolves.
I am sure that someone could add a mod that maybe even if it deosn't switch to first, can force the third person veiw in almost the same camera position as first.

Maybe worth looking into as well for the first person players as you can set up the third person camera angles in your ini files anyway, so third just becomes first but you get to actually see your own feet.

I imagine the view lock will be a pain in the ass for those trying to make tfc toggled screenshots as you need first person view enabled to remove the character from the scene as well.

a really huge problem about being in persistent 3rd person is that alot of dungeons, such as mines and some caves, conflict with this view when the roof obscures the camera and causes awkward skipping.

also, unrelated to 3rd person but more of a complaint related to vampire lords in general, ive been playing only 45 minutes as a VL and ive found that i cannot go up a few types of spiraling stair cases.

Its is quite obvious that the 3rd person view thing was deliberate, and i imagine we are not intended to spend the majority of our traveling or exploring in the vampire lord form. Rather, to engage it in combat situations. Even so, these issues seem easily avoidable.

Considering that at E3 they were going on about how you could play through the whole game in Vampire Lord form, I don't think they can really justify its lack of maneuverability. I've heard you can't go up staircases, through doors, and a variety of other poor design choices that make me scratch my head. Bethesda's really going to make us watch that animation every single time we want to go through a door? Really?

I imagine the reason is effort/time. Especially with the vampire lord, time must be spent on re-working the UI to display important things like whether or not you're currently flying. Admittedly this shouldn't take any real length of time at all, but there you go. Also, bat-leaping might look odd in first person, then again, they could just use Whirlwind Sprint and add some filter to make it look more interesting.

But, this requires more effort and time, even if just a little.

Not that Im saying your not allowed to prefer 1st person, Im just curious how you didnt know VL didnt have 1st person, its been out on Xbox for over a month and it seemed fairly obvious to me that VL worked the same as werewolf that is no 1st person

While I never played as a VL, I feel your frustration. In my entire life I've never enjoyed third person view, and because of that, RARELY transform into a werewolf. I just don't play well in 3rd person. I guess since you transform into something visually unique, they must think. You really want to. Look at yourself!

I would like an option to choose please.... I would think its easier to leave it in 1st person!

personally with my vampire mod Im more powerful outside of VL form so I probably won't use it all that often once the novelty wears off, I should say Im a stealth archer so mobs tend to not know where the hell I am before they drop dead so theres that too.

Always a catch, oh yeah.
  • You may never play the way you want to play, in first person view. If you want to be a vampire lord, that is - that is what you paid for yes?
What's wrong with Bethesda? Are they THAT lazy they can't create 1st person view for the vampire lord?

Didn't the developers get that done in their free jam periode so they just left it at that as Bethesda would otherwise had to pay a artist to design the first person view, hands and all.

Oh boy, yeah that's just [censored] load of work that can't be done by a AAA developer because they won't profit enough from this DLC to make anyone get paid for any work on this DLC at all.

Of course, I understand...

20 € (euro) for this DLC and they can't give me the first person view for their big seller (Vampire Lord) when I, pay, 20 € ... Guess Tomb Raider is the future of TES, no more first person view, shack it.

It cost too much to pay artist to create this, of course. Perhaps add a patch that scrap the whole first person view at all because it doesn't excist for anything that is new such as mounted combat, vampire lord, werewolf, all new to the TES series but first person view? No [censored] you!

They want you to see why you cannot get through the door more likely. Can be hazardous to your skull being a Vampire Lord. And they probably want you to admire their new creation.

I think everyone is entitled to their opinion and this forum is here for us all to talk about the game and hopefully make it better. However, when people talk in such a rude self entitled way I have no sympathy. If you want them to change something for you at least ask nicely.

third-person view would be nice if third-person view didn't look and feel like absolute [censored] and lack basic features that third-person games have had since the '90s.

two months down the line this thread will be made every other day and nobody will jump to Bethesda's defense in them. you guys should really try to cut down on that feeling of blind post-release ecstasy.

i understand y they did that cuz it would be as hard as getting politicians to agree on something if u tried to kill something 1st person horseback, or while being surrounded by enemies as a werewolf or vl, and u dont have to buy it and horseback came free

While I strongly prefer 1st person. 3rd person doesn't bother me for these things. What's the point of turning into something completely different if you can't see it?

I agree with everything but the first part, I do not like first person. If they are going to do all that work on creating the werewolves and vampire lords maybe they want you to see more then the hands. Also you don't need to play in first person to be the character.

I'd love first person view for the VL, Werewolf and Horse views, I much prefer it. But I can understand why it's third person only.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but werewolf doesn't have a first person form either and it's been that way since Skyrim came out. I see no problem here.

I felt that going 3rd person for werewolves was a design choice: werewolves are not quite themselves while shapeshifted, this helps to create that feeling of otherness.

That logic may apply to Vampire Lords as well, though I've only played through the Dawnguard side of the arc so far, so not sure. Obviously it doesn't apply to horseback.

Third person is for teenagers and idiots.

It disrupts immersion and ruins your aim and depth perception.

Often you find it can help with strafing and avoiding projectiles left and right due to extra perception room to the left and right but forward/backward collision detection always suffers.

You either stop short of your target or give them a hug.

I did a little test with Forza 4 and Minecraft...no matter who tried they either swerved constantly or got blown up by creepers.

...and Warewolves had a choice of 1st/3rd person in Morrowind
