Your Character Should be Able to Smoke in Skyrim!

Post » Fri Jun 15, 2012 4:18 am

Well, what about all the alcohol in the game?
Thats given more or less that isn't a very big issue surprisingly however i haven't heard of anyone starting to drink from a game since it mainly starts from peer-pressure.

Isn't it exactly the same with tobacco then?

I would much rather have the "ability" to get addicted to skooma + skooma giving hallucinations or something

They should sooner put some realistic effect for alcohol, skooma and moon sugar before they touch smoking.

It's a touchy subject sure you hear people dieing from drunk driving but the media usually goes all out against tobacco products its just my opinon though but i fear if Bethesda puts a smoking animation for the character let alone weed or cigarettes the media would just be bad press.

This. I want a reason to avoid skooma, not just because "it's supposed to be bad".

I feel a Skyrim smoking commercial coming up:

"Hell, my name is Felina, i'm a dark-elf hunter.
After a good spanking, nothing beats the *caugh* caugh*
old pipe with fresh marbilo. Thank you marbilo for making
my trips around in the nature so much more relaxing.

This is silly why should it be in the game what would it add. Roleplaying wise some of my characters smoke. Otherwise there is really no point of it at all it will not add anything to the game.

More useful things should be added to the game before something as redundant as smoking.

There were Skooma Pipes in Morrowind. You couldn't use them for smoking skooma, though. They were implied to be used for smoking by the NPCs who did use them.

Eh, it could't hurt. I think it'd add a bit of atmosphere to the game.

i seriously feel like a lot of people would really enjoy smoking in their houses, on horseback, or sitting in a field somewhere looking at the sky in Skyrim
That sounds...so damned boring.

I sat in a town in Skyrim just looking at the Northern Lights once. It was awesome.

That is actually a bit interesting because you are watching pretty lights, but sitting in a dark house watching a character just....smoke? That is boring.

. . . Seriously?

Quite honestly, I'd rather see them working on a lot of things than something that adds close to nothing to the game.

Smoking has been present in almost every story/movie/myth that the Elder Scrolls games have drawn inspiration from. For those who say it would make kids want to start smoking, I disagree. A Mature rated game should include Mature content. It would be fun to be able to sit in your house and smoke some freshly picked pipe-weed. Opinions?

So you want your character to sound like a female Argonian?

Smoking is a killer. Yes, I'm being 'that guy', the health nazi. But why would Bethesda put smoking into the game when so many people are trying to give it up, for the good of themselves and for others?

I, for one, am addicted to immersion role-playing. This may sound odd to you, but one of my favorite things to do in Skyrim is spend an evening in The Bannered Mare in Whiterun. I sit down, wait for Sadia to offer me a drink, purchase a bottle of Honningbrew, request that Mikael play me some Ragnar the Red, and enjoy some banter with the tavern patrons. Personally, I think adding a pipe like, say, Gandalf's, would be fantastic. Great idea, my friend.

I like this idea. It slowly drains your health or damages your total health as you smoke it.
