Your Character Should be Able to Smoke in Skyrim!

Post » Fri Jun 15, 2012 7:04 pm

A perfect RPG would include all the choices real life has. So saying "no" to any addition to Skyrim that brings it closer to being the perfect RPG is counterproductive.

People are too damn sensitive. You can't sensor everything just to protect other people from what you feel they need to be protected from. In a game where you can murder every one you see, I want the option to smoke a pipe. Cry about it.

you can't sensor something that isn't there and will probably never be there.

If you don't want to hear about pipes, stop reading this thread. :P

Lord of the Rings game includes smoking pipes, but it's part of the story from the books upon which the game is built. If your wife or mom won't let you smoke while you play Skyrim, grow a pair and light up

Insulting people is not a very good way to try to convey an idea and it does not belong in this forum.

People are against smoking, but killing people is fine? hehe...

I personally think smoking would be a neat little rp touch... particularly using a well-crafted pipe after a long day of hard adventuring, settling down by the fire.

I don't care if smoking is implemented into the game cause it might be cool to see a Jarl of Whiterun smoking a pipe while sitting on the throne, actually his hand position while sitting fits perfectly for a pipe lol :)

Although I think smoking in real life is dumb and disgusting and your literally just paying money to kill your self slowly. It shouldn't be a big deal while in game (look at the GTA series)

But before they do an animation for that I would like animations for: drinking, eating, laying in bad/sleeping, being able to bow, sitting on the ground (preferably with leg crossed like the Khajiit caravan people) petting your dog and horse and feeding them for health reasons or just role playing reasons (not mandatory though), hugging and kissing your wife, and to be able to play the flute, drum and Lute . After all those than they can add smoking.

Also about dogs being able to keep them in your house will be a very welcomed edition, even if they just sit there. Although I would like them to move around or maybe even roam around your house or around town like many of the over dogs will be very nice!

agree with dragon born, theres a thousand other things that could be done immersion wise than wasting pixels on smoking.
why not ask a modder if they will do this for you? be a good indicator of interest perhaps. cheers

and there are a lot of us that do want the option

The responses to this thread show you why it won't be in. Too many people don't want it

Much more important things to use code on

Would making an animation and two items really use that much code?

Doesn't really seem like a deal breaker. A lot of video game companies tend to avoid tobacco products because of their controversy I think. There are many other things I'd much rather have.

EDIT: And what stories/movies/myths include smoking that they draw inspiration from?

Tobacco? ya need some of dat sicky-icky green

smoking is a health hazard that is addictive and slowly kills you , drowining on your own mucus cus your lungs are half dead
skyrim is a health hazard that is addictive and slowly kills your life, drowning on your own misery cus your life is half dead :P

i was strong enough to quit cigs cold turkey and never look back but i dont judge other people for their addictions....to each their own
I hated those reformed smokers when i was a smoker and i still hate them now, dont preach about things people are fully aware of and let them kill themselves slowly in peace ;)

You know I kind of like the idea.
Strolling down a country road smoking a pipe as you take in the beauty of the woods around you.

Sort of Lord of the Ringsie if you take my meanin'

Smoking has been present in almost every story/movie/myth that the Elder Scrolls games have drawn inspiration from. For those who say it would make kids want to start smoking, I disagree. A Mature rated game should include Mature content. It would be fun to be able to sit in your house and smoke some freshly picked pipe-weed. Opinions?

although it would be a nice aspect to the game, i believe they could bring something more useful the character rather then smoking.

Adds more depth to the role playing aspect of the game
If they wanted to add depth to the game they would show your character picking up the food/drink, holding it in their hand and eatting/drinking it....but they don't.

Good use of sarcasm friend :goodjob:

Tell you what, while you're adding smoking to your game, I'll be creating a fun quest that adds a nice weapon with in-depth story and gameplay, and leaves you satisfied at the end to my game.

Have fun sitting and playing an animation.
