I can think of several, actually:
- The huge health risks, and the people trying to quit.
- the controversy
- smoking has never been a part of TES.
- it's more of a 'gangster' thing than a 'knight' thing.
- So is fighting dragons. You wouldn't HAVE to smoke in game if you don't want to. And what about alcoholics trying to quit? There's mead, and ale all over Skyrim.
- We already have Skooma, and the ability to wantonly murder almost any NPC. Also we have alcohol.
- They had Skooma PIPES in Morrowind. That means they
smoked Skooma. That means smoking is a part of TES.
- You don't have to be a "knight" in The Elder Scrolls. You can be a thief, you can be a vampire, you can be a serial killer. You can be almost anything.
Also the Thieves guild
are a bunch of gangsters.
