1,000 Hours

Post » Sat Jun 16, 2012 10:36 am

To those who are ashamed to play; why do you do it then?

There are two ways of contriving always to live up to your own standards. One is to be perfect, and the other is to adapt your standards to fit your behaviour. I don't know anyone who manages the first. I don't want to do the second.

I don't understand.

Is this, like, a way of claiming bragging rights of some kind?

I play on Novice  But I really really svck at games. Imagine you let an old person, or a 5 year old play, then imagine... worse. That's me. Still 500+ hours in. I roleplay.

No offense to novice players, my point was the game goes by quicker on easier difficulties.

What's sad about thinking one's own behaviour to have sometimes been faulty? Only psychopaths don't do it. And duties aren't confined to working hours.

I've managed to split my game time between Skyrim on xbox 360 and Skyrim on the PC. Be patient, you'll love those mods. As for agorophobia and anxiety good job you found Tamriel! It's such a relaxing place!

My flatmate has said that we can get the PC sooner rather than later so I'm a very happy Lynzi today. In a fortnight I'll be Skyrimming once more.

It's wonderful to be able to escape into Tamriel. At the moment I'm in between doctors, etc, and so I'm in a kind of static period. Killing dragons with magic can keep the smile on my face. :D

I also find the people 'dissing' folk quite odd. Does it really matter to you if someone has 'wasted' any amount of time? I'd understand it better if you were talking to your kids or significant other but some random person on the internet? Silly billies. *boops you all on the nose*

Your opinion! :3 also it adds up over the years. 5 years between TES games give or take, that's a lot of time to play.

120 hours is enough time to do every quest on the game and dive every dungeon, twice.
Wut?

I'm at ~185 hours and I've only been to like 4 of the 9 holds, I've done maybe like 30% of the dungeons, and barely any quests. How the hell can you do all the quests and dungeons twice in 120 hours? Maybe by skipping all dialogue, god mode on, constant sprinting, running passed all enemies, no fighting, no looting...

Imagine if instead of playing Skyrim, we used all of that time to do something to better mankind.

Too hard. Playing Skyrim is easier.

I'm saying that we almost all do things we later realize we ought not to have done, and that this is not 'sad', but a sign that we have an ethical view and are capable of self-criticism. I have been saying this in the expectation that it is as true of you as it is of me, and hoping that you will realize you do think one's time can be mis-spent.

I have played Skyrim for over 100 hours, and I am not proud of myself for doing so.

I would be disgusted with myself for playing 1,000 hours.

I have got around 280 hours into skyrim and i am perfectly mentaly healthy so I think you can find a way to deal with your 100+ hours in skyrim.

can someone explain how anyone can spend over 4k hours on a game?

by laying in a hosital bed in front of your xbox and tv with feeding tubes stuck down your throat and playing skyrim until you pass out from lack of rest. i'd image those with 1500+ hours into skyrim have quite a slothfull lifestyle.

I agree there. There is no point in being ashamed of doing something you like or you have pleasure doing. Life is too short. :)
