So tired of waiting!! I still don't understand how they couldn't have seen these problems BEFORE release!!! I think we all have a right to be pissed off about the wait!! We were sold a lemon! Maybe they should be spending less (or maybe no) time working on DLC for a nonfunctional game and more time on patches!! I'm kicking myself for buying this one instead of Gameflying it!

I think we should get SOMETHING for the wait. I mean we couldn't play it this whole time and I got this DLC glitch the day after I bought it. The first DLC should be free I mean come on how much did you guys make from this game so far I think you guys can make this little sacrifice.

Finally.

Thanks for replying. I can only assume that many of the issues will continue to persist that have not been added to your current fix list. Can we look forward to additional patches to address these issues? It really seems like the game generates random bugs. My most serious concern is random faction hostility that isnt related to faction related apparel. I played nearly an entire playthrough with everyone attacking me (had to finish yes man to compromise).
Can we look forward to schematics working in the future (and the inclusion of more than two schematics?)
Crafting guns was great in FO3. I don't know if anyone is really using campfires as its easier to use food than to stockpile and crafting weapons would be more fun.
Thanks for giving us the update. But on that note...eta?

Ok so I spend $90 on the Collectors Edition game and Bethesda gives me something that DOESN'T WORK?!?! And then on top of that they are coming out with DLC that I have to spend even more money on and they still haven't come out with a patch for the game yet. Very disappointing and I agree with K42 anyone who bought the game before the patch comes out should get the new DLC for free. On the bright side Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood is amazing if you are thinking about getting New Vegas think again and buy AC:B... Cant believe I said that.

We have been assured the patch will be released before any DLC comes out.

I personally want them to release the patch when it is ready and won't cause more problems and that does take a bit of time. I don't anticipate much longer. Of course, anything can go wrong in the final testing and approval and distribution process.

So, you're *still* trying to fix the bugs? /sigh... How did this game reach the store in such a non-working state?

can't believe people are thanking Bethesda for basically just repeating what they've said for a month now.

from their sticky thread:

Posted 05 Nov: We’ve come up with solutions for the Xbox 360 save issue folks are reporting, along with a number of other issues being reported. We’re currently running final testing and certification on a comprehensive patch for all three platforms (PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3), so we’ll have something available in the coming weeks. When we have more details, we’ll let you know.

Posted 18 Nov: Wanted to update everyone on the status of the game updates/patches. We're working on the final touches for PC, 360, and PS3. Once they're available, we'll let you know

Posted 29 Nov: We're working on finalizing the update and getting it to you guys. If I get a better sense of when that'll be out, I'll update this threadwith news.

I mean am I the only one seeing this ? It's just the same record being played over and over, with information that basically says NOTHING whatsoever about the progress or timeline. Just shambles pure shambles.

I've been among the crowd of unsatisfied Fallout fans and have stated my displeasure with waiting for a patch to fix all of the bugs we are experiencing, but I do want to point out how big this game is. When you sit down and play it, you realize that this game is full of details. Full of little nuances that make Fallout the awesome game that it is (and which has created this massive fanbase that only want to play the game they love).

I can imagine that any of the frustrated developers, who want to make and be known for the best videogame series ever, reading these posts are thinking that for all the hard work they did, it wasn't worth it. I think we have made it clear that a patch is necessary, so let's give them some breathing room - lift the tension - so they can do a good job.

How can I say this when I've been affected by game-stopping glitches and freezes? I will bullet my experience below:

  • Wear the Old Cowboy Hat. Wearing the Old Cowboy Hat has enabled me to walk around freely about the Strip. I don't understand why this is the case, I only know that it works.

  • Save many different slots and save very often. Every single glitch I've encountered I've been able to avoid by reverting to an old save and modifying my actions to get around the glitch.

Doing these two things has enabled me to enjoy this awesome game and has extinguished the flames of frustration that drove me to complain in this thread in the first place. Does anyone else have any tips for avoiding the existing bugs?

Stop hijacking the thread with pointless devoted fan statements. They've sold MILLIONS of copies, thats all the motivation they're ever gonna need. You're fooling yourself if you think reading this forum would make them consider quitting gamedev because it wasn't worth it. At the end of the day they are selling us a product, and they sold us a faulty one which they have taken WAY too long to fix.

As to your bug and bugfix, just wow. First they don't belong in this thread and second different saveslots? I'd never thought of that! Thing is when you get that DLC bug it corrupts every save you have. And if you start a new game it might just happen again because we have have no real idea of what is causing it.

i'm locked out of the strip at "The House Always Wins, I"...

they ought to have finished the game before putting it on the store shelves.

i think we ought to get something really cool and really free for this...

It doesnt corrupt them all. In all my 87 saves it only corrupted the first 3 and thats been consistant with the many times I have loaded way back and encountered the DLC issue.

It will never be better then FO3 in my opinion. Even after being fully patched.

Wow. After five weeks of "They should have delayed the release of the game till they fixed the bugs" and three weeks of "why did they release a patch if it was only cause more issues" we've moved on to "get the damn patch out already, stop trying to make sure its perfect".

In answer to your question: The patch will be out when they are done with it. Not playing won't kill me before then.

The patch will be out when they are done with it.

Let's hope "Done" means that the major bugs fixed. I own to many Obsidian/Bethesda games to except perfection but not having to hard boot my console a couple times a day would sure be nice.

We shouldn't have to avoid any bugs it's an open ended game it bothers me that I can't do a certain thing in this game because I know it will bug out.

lets all be honest here, we are more upset about the way the developers are dealing with the bugs then the actual bugs themselves. Bugs in the game - it happens more this year than I have ever seen but it happens. But for Bethesda and Obsidian to barely acknowledge the patch is what is pissing us off the most. Its 2010, the internet has be come our main source of information, USE IT DEVELOPERS. A small daily update? Every few days? A list of what your actually fixing. You have the tools utilize them. Your lack of communication makes you look like you dont care and there is no excuse for it.

What console are you on because I am on the Xbox 360 and I have not been able to play the game for well over a month now due to this stupid save corruption glitch and I am still not able to. How hard is it to release a simple patch that actually works or delay the game for a few more weeks until they have it fixed instead of releasing an unfinished piece of work just to get the money from the sales. ANY information on when this patch for the Xbox 360 is going to be out would be very helpful thanks.

the more time passes the more i feel like i will never be able to really enjoy this game, but i also feel like they wouldn't release the dead money dlc without first releasing the patch. we'll just have to wait and see...

I'm sure they would release the DLC before the patch. I hope not but i'm sure they would. Its a good possibility that the DLC was ready before even the game was released. Alot of these DLC's are software that should have already been packaged with the game already but they through it in to make a some cheap and easy cash. "Map packs" are usually like this and fable 2 did it as well (charged you for what was already in the game but locked). Personally I suggest to stay away from the forums and not play the game till the patch is released. I check every few days just so by the time the patch comes out i'll be able to enjoy it without too many spoilers. Right now my new vegas is a piece of plastic on a shelf.
