Anybody getting tired of waiting for the patch?

Oh, and some advice for Bethesda/Obsidian - Don't act like the patch is so close to coming out when it really isn't!! That's just fuel for the fire.

Gstaff, on 05 December 2010 - 10:34 AM, said:
Talaran is right. We're getting to the finish line, but it's very hard to speculate on an exact date. A few weeks back I could have speculated on the date, and I would have been wrong. We typically only give updates when we have substantive info to share.

As mentioned previously, we should have an update soon on all three platforms (PC, 360, and PS3). Will they all come out at the same time? That's our hope. Keep in mind it's a different process to get the patch/update out on Xbox, PC, and PS3 (it's actually two process for PS3... Europe and North America).

Once the update starts becoming available, we'll let everybody know. We'll share details in the pinned threads (across in FNV General Discussion and in the support boards), as well as on the blog.

Thanks for your patience.

So that puts us right about the time of DLC release in my estimate. Just as i guessed. Just awesome, it only took 2 months to patch it. The pits, just the pits.. Hope noone buys that god forsaken DLC, still haven't gotten so much as a wiff of an apology from any of the game devs btw. How rude is that?

Actually who ever said 'blame Microsoft' could possibly have a convoluted valid point.

MS is notoriously picky at certification and how they EVER certified this piece of dung for release on their console is questionable at best.

Could it be that MS didn't pay a single DIME to get the 'exclusive' DLC? Instead 'exclusive' DLC was given for FREE in exchange for the certification of a game that causes HUGE game-breaking bugs on their console?

"We’ve come up with solutions for the Xbox 360 save issue folks are reporting, along with a number of other issues being reported. We’re currently running final testing and certification on a comprehensive patch for all three platforms (PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3), so we’ll have something available in the coming weeks. When we have more details, we’ll let you know."

That was November 5th... so today marks a month of "final testing". We've also been waiting a half a month of "final touches". Is the update ever coming out??

It will. But here's the thing, people complained that there was no testing, now people are complaining that there was a month's worth of testing on the patch (which is probably about 5 months less than the testing period should have been for the entire game, which is POSSIBLE that they did test originally for that long, the only people who know are Bethesda/Obsidian and anyone else would be just speculating).

It's a no-win situation, the testing period is too short or too long in the eyes of some.

I use a simple formula:

Testing before I pay for game WIN. Testing AFTER i paid for game LOSE.

It all comes down to whether or not you are charging people full retail price for something that is finished, as opposed to ganking money of people and then completing the job.

So I believe people are right to be vexed that they are waiting to be able to enjoy a game that they have already paid for, when in reality, the game should still not have been released, as it is still unplayable for a unacceptably high number of people, across various platforms.

Do you think this is a satisfactory situation?

Edit: To the people blaming Microsoft, although it may be their certification process slowing things up, the game should never have been available for purchase in it's current state. There should be no need for such urgent remedial work.

the fact that the patch has not been released on any system at all yet shows your theory up to be complete and utter bobbins

Still pissed of that they would release the game like this. They either didn't test it or they just decided to release it full of bugs.

My patience has been exhausted. There is nothing Bethesda/Obsidian can do to gain my goodwill back. I will be among the many that will no longer be purchasing their products. I just hope enough people boycott them to force them to improve their quality control, because they have clearly shown that while they continue to make money they will cut every corner possible.

If anyone at Bethesda or Obsidian reads this, please take note : EVERYONE knows you are in the wrong here, including yourselves i'm sure, so how about growing a set, maning up and taking some responsibility? The more you delay, spruke marketing crap and continue to downplay this the worse you look, and you already look really, really bad.

nothing to do with Bethesda.

This is the usual situation of Obsidians reach exceeding its grasp.
They might have wonderful ideas but they lack the technical ability, time and dedication to implement them properly or at all.. resulting in majorly bug filled, rushed games.

It doesnt bode well for Dungeon Siege 3. You simply cannot have a relatively small development team dedicating enough time and love to multiple projects at once.
Theyve got like kids in a candy store and are accepting anything and everything they can grab before realising they are full to the brim.

I'm back in this thread, seeing as it is quite active. Just to post this from the Fallout Facebook page.

We’ve wrapped up work on the Fallout: New Vegas patch and submitted it. Will let you know when it’s up on PS3, 360, and Steam.

Anyone with a Facebook page can type in 'Fallout' and see I'm not lying. Again, I'm sure we will be updated about this across the FO:NV boards in due course. :D

Probably more waiting. How long, I couldn't tell. But at least we know the patch is now ready for MS to certify. All on them now. I pray it is much faster than the average update. :)

I don't pay attention to what they tell us anymore. I come here to see if it's out yet and the answer is always no. That hasn't changed.

Well, we really have no way to know if it was sent our for cert before and came back with requests for more problem solving and microsoft's requests have now been met and sent back again. But it really doesn't matter because either way it's nearer to us customers now than before. And in the end, that is the most important.

We can't possibly know what has taken place or the work and time that has gone into all of this across all three platforms. It could be delays for any number of reasons.

I think everyone should boycott the DLC, unless we are compensated some how. Because i for one am getting tired of waiting to actually play the original game.

This is just my prediction. There won't be any compensation, no free DLC.. Just a simple "We are sorry you had to wait" And everyone will get back to enjoying this game until the next error appears..

You'll likely see it this week. Should be out for PC early in the week due to the less stringent "certification" process, later for the PS3 and Xbox, assuming it passes certification.

I got the game on Friday. I had no idea such a bug existed until I entered Vault 34, died in the Armory and it froze while loading the Autosave. I thought this was just a normal game freeze so I turned it off and on again, but then experienced the DLC message. Not only my autosave but the last save game would not load. I was very disappointed that they somehow did not remove this bug before releasing this game, how could they not notice something like this? I thought bug testing was supposed to be taken seriously. Because I've seen way more bugs in this game than Fallout 3. I can handle some bugs, they are often amusing, but not being able to play the game is something that is ridiculous.

It is good they have completed the patch and I hope it fixes things.

So we're going to have to wait more than a week? This is madness.
I thought this meant it would be released tomorrow or something.
