anyone else feel pretty ripped off?

Ripped off? I feel this game could have pulled off a 60 dollar price tag on PC.

dude... they are working on fixing it as we speak.... seriously they already realeased one patch that fixed quests and dialogs dont hate without knowledge... thats being ignorant. Im not calling you ignorant im just saying thats what it is. again not calling you ignorant
You sure you're not calling me ignorant? I think you might be lol. Maybe I am ignorant. That's the beauty of ignorance, I wont know about it unless someone points it out.

I haven't been paying too much attention to what's been said about any upcoming fixes. But I haven't heard/read anything where someone from Obsidian has specifically stated that they are working on a fix for the freezing/framerate issues. In fact I haven't even seen anything to suggest that those issues have been acknowledged at all.

I'll go look at some of the stickied threads now incase I've missed something though. Hopefully I have..

I agree with the OP. I hope that Bethesda does not work with Obsidian in the future. It may be that Obsidian is the grandfather of the TRUE Fallout, but if that is so then I don't want anymore Fallout - I want more of whatever Fallout 3 is.

Fallout New Vegas is bland. The story does not track well. You are shot in the head (OK.), but if I'm just a simple courier, a little guy, then why would I all of a sudden try and be the biggest bad ass in the world ? - Seems to me that this story is like a cut and paste job gone wrong. Nothing in the story feels connected to anything else and I don't feel connected to the character either (at level 14). Fallout New Vegas feels - pointless, or better yet, plot less.

The dialog choices in Fallout New Vegas make no sense whatsoever and I'll give you two examples.
At the general store in Goodsprings I can ask the owner to tell me more about "Mr. House." - to which I reply, who the hell is Mr. House and why would I even ask that question?
At the lucky 38 casino, I can ask Jane "What's with the snowglobe collection? - to which I reply, what the hell are you talking about... snowglobe collection? Where? Why do I care?
Because I had a great science skill I killed Mr. House before I even knew what the hell the point of being in the casino was. Imagine if you could have crept into the enclave at the start of the game - I can't go any further without a spoiler for fallout 3, but the point is that this game is poorly designed, poorly executed, and events are VERY loosely connected.

And, there are MANY more examples of dialogue that simply feel like a cut and paste job from a brainstorming session, poorly implemented ideas by developers that were too lazy to make an immersible world and instead took the G.E.C.K. and made a big mod out of a bunch of random thoughts. That is what Fallout New Vegas feels like, a big mod. It absolutely, 100%, lacks the quality, character, depth of plot, continuity of story, and immersion of any of Bethesda game I've ever played. I'm a little disappointed, yes, but more than anything I'm just bored with New Vegas.

I'm going to write a complete new thread on this seriously flawed game when time permits, but before then I'd like to say a few more things...

#1) - this game is WAY TOO MUCH RPG.

I'm bored to death with talking to the NPC's, especially since they have such lousy dialogue, and there is truly no opportunity to be tense or frightened of what is around the corner in New Vegas. The subways, buildings, vaults of Fallout 3 were TENSE and the action was GOOD. Fallout New Vegas has about as much action as a retirement home. When the powder ganger surprised me, you know, I was so happy because I thought this game was going to really be something to watch your back over, but that was the only tiny bit of adrenaline I've had and I'm on level 14. Why are all the buildings and "levels" so easy to waltz right in and out of?
No raiders trying to kill me, nothing to be worried about at all.
Why in the world would ceasar want to talk with me? - That is SO LAME!
If anything, I'd have to be captured as a slave and complete a whole subplot before Ceasar would talk with me, but no... spoiler.

As much as I like Bethesda, after this and alpha protocol (I don't care why it svcked, it just svcked, no excuses) I will never touch another game with Obsidian on, in, or anywhere near it.
I can think of a multitude of examples of why Fallout 3 was a better game, but I'll leave that for my own thread.

One last thing - credit where credit is due - the improved inventory system is a welcome change. This is something that should have been in Fallout 3 and everyone knows it. Obviously Bethesda didn't have time to expand the inventory and crafting system, but that is pretty much the ONLY good thing about New Vegas. hardcoe mode is a joke. Why is it hardcoe?
Because I have to carry around a few water bottles and an iguana stick?

Seriously, there is no action in this game at all. So don't worry about hardcoe mode. If there was any chance of getting shot then I guess it would be cool.

Please Bethesda, don't collaborate with Oblivion anymore. Nothing but a bunch of amateur modders.
Just look at the rocks in good springs, the very first place in the game... gaps in the game world the size of a gecko's head. Obsidian needs to go back to school. Actually, maybe if they hang around Bethesda long enough they'll learn something, but I kinda doubt it.

No, I don't. (and neither does http://twitter.com/FINALLEVEL/status/28896055927 )

I also got the CE, and I'm fine with it. I'd have liked a better book, but the book was not the focus of the game, and everything by Darkhorse looks like that.

Have you ever purchased 3-4 new release blue ray films?

there you spent 80 bucks or more, which would on average be 6 hours of content.

I am 30 hours in and still plenty to do and feel like I got my moneys worth (although i spent $49 not $80.)

its funny, now adays with games in general we actually get far more for the same or less price than in the old days of NES gaming.

I remember when Castlevania came out it cost $75 I spent all my birthday money on it.

with the exception of maybe zelda and the like most old school nintendo games that have a beginning and an end dont even come close to touching most modern video games in terms of content. It just seemed like it did because nowadays most games are ez-mode, and nintendo games were effing hard and when you lose you start over from the beginning. Most if you avoid having to start over could be beat within a few hours and you paid the same price as a game today that gives you a first person cinematic experience.

So no I dont feel people get ripped off in the least bit. You'd have no issue paying 10-20 dollars for a 1.5-2hr movie, then get all bent out of shape when a game you bought didnt take you 300 hours to complete. Which nowadays most single player story driven games are simply movies in which the player gets to take an active role.

No, I like this better than F03. There are some aspects I like about 3 better than NV, but overall the good outweighs the bad. I am no where near to being completed, but I've already dumped 81 hours in (on my fourth character as I play around with stats and what not). I don't personally view the hard ass monsters as an attempt to keep you on the path of the story. I view staying on the path of the story as the easy way because it eases you into everything. If you want a challenge, then you go off the beaten path, and it becomes very hard. That is a GOOD thing IMO

a bit blunt and some things i don't agree fully with, but that pretty much sums it: i thank obsidian for creating the fallout world, but fallout 3 is the style i enjoy and would like to see, though if obsidian launches another open world fallout game, id certainly look into it.

No, I don't.
This is closer to what a Fallout game should be like.
Bethesda should take notes of what Obsidian did for Fallout 4.

Except for the level cap and definitive ending, lol....

I get what you're saying and I sort off agree with you, but saying that you don't feel ripped off just because today's standard have plummeted to such low levels anyway. It feels strange.

firstly, either you misunderstood or i didnt correctly set my point in, but i think the game is good in general, just that as a squeal to fo3, it is somewhat of a let down. compared to fo3 only, it is a good game in general.

secondly, you open up a whole can of worms when you bring the classics in, and i won't go fully into it, but this: some of the big classics kicked ass, and are incomparable to games made these days.

thirdly, im not bent out of shape, im a bit disappointed. it might be a vast game an such, but it is also dwarfed by its predecessor

No, I don't. 50 hours of gameplay (so far) for 60 dollars? Well worth it. also I dont really think the map is smaller, it takes much longer to get to places in NV, say in fallout 3 it takes about 5 minutes to go from megaton to the bottom of the map. In NV from Primm to the bottom (roughly the same distance in the Pip-Boy) it takes like 10 minutes) just because its smaller in the pip boy doesnt mean it is actually smaller in the game. we should have a test to see how long it take to go from the bottom to top of each map.

It's more realistic that half the map is empty seeing as how it's in a desert and takes place 204 years after the apocalypse.

I get most people seem pretty happy, but i see a lot a talk about FNV having more quality then quantity, then i read a statemnt like above thats describes half the map being empty? Something dont make sense?

Keep in mine this is a spin off and not part of the series. Despite that, it is a very good game and while not geared toward us sandbox players, it is still a very good game. At least my few hours of playing so far seems to support that claim.

I think Fallout:3 and this game are very good and cringe each time I see folks saying FO:3 was crap because quite frankly it was pretty awesome just as this one is pretty awesome. Maybe for different reasons and different ways but still...

I feel pretty ripped off because of the bugs to be honest, which is a shame because the game itself is actaully amazing in my opinion. I definitely like it better than Fallout 3. Or I would like it better than Fallout 3, if I could actually sit down and play it without fear of it crashing. And if I didn't have to put up with that ridiculous pop-in freezing that you get whenever you walk forward twenty feet. I've never seen anything like that in a game before, and I've played some properly buggy games. It's just not good enough.

The worst part is, I don't even think Bethesda/Obsidian will be able to sort half of these bugs out. And that's if they even bother to try. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if they just leave it as it is. That's usually what I see happen with games this buggy.

Question for the masses. Is the PC version more buggy than the console version? I keep reading these horror stories and am just not experiencing them on XBOX 360. Sure the occasional harmless glitch you expect in a new game of this size but nothing close to a deal breaker.......or even a major irritation.

I also think its a good game in general... but it was not pushed as a sequel, so it can't be a let down "as a sequel".
(but I don't a want a FO3 sequel anyway though ... NV reminds me of FO2 in terms of pacing and dialog credibility ~too bad not in gameplay :(. As such I look at it as the finest FO2 sequel we are likely to ever get.)

definatly a fair point, and i suppose some of the bigger things do root to the sandbox thing, but there is still the fact that (in my opinion) they chose a few things to make a laser-focus on, which kinda let other things slip and get less attention than they really needed.

both games(fo3 and nv) are great games, live iv said, i think the best thing to do would be to make fo4(or w/e the next official game in the series will be called) a combo of the fo3 and nv style

Maybe I'm just an easy to please man, but I feel I got my moneys worth. It's very annoying people do this with EVERY FALLOUT GAME. There's always that one person who says 'The last released Fallout was better' all of these people sounding off this yawp about their dissappointment is redundant. I mean, the way I see it is, if it doesnt become a repeat of the Fallout: BoS situation, I'm usually very pleased with how the Fallout games turn out. granted, I was introduced with Fallout through 3, but that does not make my opinion any less valid than older folks like Gizmos.

Unfortunatly I feel completely ripped off. Ive loved every Fallout game in the series, even tactics, but this has to be the biggest disappointment Ive had with video games. My copy of the game will not work, first I got trapped in the Lucky 38. Next attempt at a playthrough I got the DLC glitch 3 hours in. My last attempt I got stuck in the interrogation room. Ive bought Fable 3 and am moving on.

Honestly, I don't feel ripped off. There may be a few things I don't like about Fallout: New Vegas, but there are A LOT of things I do like about the game.

I'd be much more appreciative if Obsidian/Bethesda were to post more updates regarding upcoming (if any) patches. I haven't heard anything from them since release besides http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1125221-please-read-from-the-teams-at-obsidian-and-bethesda/. I think it's a little unfair that there's only been one update since release, and a good portion of players are still having issues with the game.

These games are always worth the £30 I spend on them. Granted, I feel let-down by the developers sometimes for the bugs that are present within the game, or the lack of information they provide us, but overall they do a decent job since I've yet to play any other games series that provide me with the depth, scale and enjoyment from the TES/Fallout series.

Except for the level cap and definitive ending, lol....

If they could work around it so we didn't need a level cap (perk every 3rd level and skills go to 300) then it might work.
But I'll always want to have a definite ending.

i strongly agree.. Fo3 was MUCH better than new vegas. things are supposed to get much better as games progress, not worse. sure new vegas is good, im not saying its not. i was just expecting captivating gameplay, addictive. like fo3. New Vegas just seems empty, it gets boring within 2 hours of gameplay. Bethesda has done exellent work with its earlier games, from Arena to fo3. i dont know what happened with new vegas to be honest. >:l
