AVP: Aliens vs Predator

So that's how you spell it. I saw on another sight that it was spelled Yatcha. Thank you for clarifying.

The books and comics call it yautja, that's how I knew about it. I've never played an AvP game.

"You Have My Sympathies
Help Van Zandt""

I wonder if that's a reference to Townes Van Zandt.

I dunno if anyone else noticed, I checked the steam store page a while ago and the system specs were there, Now they're not, From what it said the required specs were really low... Something in the lines of Geforce 6600 and a weak Dual Core processor

I'm assuming that info was correct but we'll see...

I might. The last two times I bought a FPS, there's was noticeable lag with the camera (Killzone 2) or the camera wouldn't move fast enough even on the highest sensitivity (Battlefield: Bad Company). If it doens't have those problems, then yes, I'll buy it.

As far as I know, Predators cannot breath outside in space. ALIENS CAN!!!! And so, I'll have to agree that Alien will beat Predator... Why? Because Aliens are worse than Cockroaches... they're everywhere you are, that you don't want them to be. And they multiply like crazy, so they're almost impossible to stop.

I dunno about how Predator's reproduce, but I'm guessing it's closer to humans? (Just a wild guess.)

GO ALIENS!!!!! :P

I don't think they breathe at all, do they? That would explain why they can hang in deep space for a while. I never really put much thought into it. Hypothetically, the derelict spacecraft crashed on Acheron way before the company colonized it, and "made the air more breathable." So there wasn't much of an atmosphere. Which means they can hang in some real crappy environments. Vasquez suggested they nerve gas the whole nest, but she was just speculating it might work. And not having to physically draw in air/exhale means you can remain motionless and undetected for a very long time, like in Aliens when the marines first get ambushed - and all flavors of crap hits the fan.
As far as multiplying, they can't do it without a queen. In theory, if a queen is no longer with a colony, an alien will evolve into one. Who knows how long that would take. This could explain why the alien in Alien was moving very sluggishly, and slowly when Ripley sees it onboard her escape pod. It may have been trying to become a queen. It knew it was alone, and had to start a colony sometime. They all can't be born queens so conveniently, like Ripley's embryo in the terrible Aliens 3.

In terms of expendable "nobody" types, the alien has got to be the lowest on the pecking order. And I even think of a typical space marine grunt as being more expendable than a predator is. I'm thinking the predator's on top, seeing how they're far more advanced than we were. If I had to place a bet, I'd go with the predator.

I'm not all knowledgeable in the whole Alien species, so most of what you said, just kinda went over my head. But, keeping it with breathing. I believe, in Alien (The first :D) you see it breath a couple of times, but it could have just been me mistaking that for coolant or something going off?

Been playing through AvP Classic 2000 on Steam and it is a ton of fun. The predator kicks all kind of ass with his shoulder cannon and spear gun.

Quick question. Does anyone know how to take a screenshot in AvP Classic 2000? Not even print screen would work, it just kept getting an image of my desktop instead of the game.

I'll be renting it, possibly buying it at a later time.

Between BioShock 2 or this, I choose BioShock. :P

No.

Also no.

The films had a decent premise. Some guys got together and said, "What's the best thing about these two films? Let's combine them". Unfortunately they forgot to include the second best things from each film, and the third best things about each film, and the the fourth best thing about each film, etc. They also completely ignored what made the games good, and I'd guess (having not read them myself) they ignored the best things about the comics as well.

A predator beats anything 1 on 1. They are big, tough, smart, and have some excellent technology. A colonial marine against an alien is tougher to call, as it really depends on the scenario. At range, a marine will tear up an alien, but up close the marine would just get their face bit off (quite literally).

The AvP movies should have been set in the future to also include colonial marines. Imagine a cross between Aliens and the first Predator. That's how it should have been.

generally in the games, the marines had the most advantage in obscene firepower, range and fighting multiple opponents; the aliens had speed and melee, and the predators had strength and versatility. marines were very weak in melee and suseptible to ambush, aliens were worthless against ranged opponents, and predators couldn't handle more than one opponent at a time without draining all energy reserves.

Eh, I wouldn't say anything. A Runner would be obliterated, but a smart Drone, Praetorian, or a Smasher could easily defeat a Predator.
