AVP: Aliens vs Predator

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 2:54 am

I like it too.

With regards to the dev team of Rebellion, is it the same one as Rogue Warrior? I had thought they'd be split up into different departments, thus the work on AvP would be done by the original (or what's left of it) dev team.

Of the movies, my favourites are Predator 2 > Predator > Aliens > Alien > rest of the Aliens > AVP1 and AVP2

Never tried the old AVP games

What's with all the hate for the AVP movies? I know that they were flimsy and had other problems, but as far as action goes with Predator on Alien, they're [censored] awesome movies!

It just svcks that in AVP 1, the only real bad ass predator dies... the really big one. (I think his nickname was Celtic Predator)

AVP Requiem had terrible acting (an worse, no name actors), and a plot that made 0 bit of sense. But the predator in it was a bad ass.

Well... actually... the movies DO svck. I'm just a svcker for the Yautja.

I'm a svcker for predators too, but as cool as they looked/were, the movies still svcked badly. I still watched them all though.

It's a different Dev team. The team making AvP is based in the Derby headquarters, whereas the Rogue Warrior team was based in another studio (which may be getting closed down).

is this game sposed to be good? ive heard its like left 4 dead versus mode, where you have humans survivors; alines (like L4D infected); but you have the predaotr aswell. Is it just shotting each other or is it like Left 4 dead style running through levels.

Nice trailer RMC. Have any of you realized, that in either an AVP movie, or one of the trailers for the game(s), whenever there's a Facehugger and Predator together, the Predator always catches the Facehugger before it can latch on; but when it's Colonial Marine and Facehugger, the Marine is just too slow. Kinda funny I think. :gun:

Well from the trailers, it certainly does look like a good game. I haven't heard it compared to L4D VS Mode, but it's probably not as chaotic with hundreds of zombies chasing after you. IT'S PROBABLY 110 TIMES AS CHAOTIC!!!! I mean in L4D(1-2), you knew where the infected were. In AvP, hopefully like it shows in the trailers. You won't be able to see much of anything, and the only light you'll get is the muzzle blast from your Pulse Rifle; as you're shooting at incoming Aliens across the wall, or firing randomly at places, trying to hit a Predator. :intergalactic:

Sweet, I can run it. Probably on max, assuming the game isn't a big glitch fest. :P

I assume you're talking about multiplayer? If they take precedent from the original games there will be a variety of game modes. I'm sure there will be Deathmatch, but there were a bunch of different game modes in the first two so we can definitely except some of those (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aliens_versus_Predator_2#Multiplayer, http://www.avpgalaxy.net/games/aliens-versus-predator-1999/).

I hate it... man i shouldn't have bought it.

The cloak for the Predator has yet to work even against marines while im standing still. As an alien, the scientists carry random molotovs and you get set on fire once and you die. It also limits your saves...

EDIT: found a way round the arbitrary and stupid save limit. Save to different slots.

I would take a wild guess that predators have better reflexes than humans. The marines are always hunkered down by heavy gear, some are too young and stupid anyway, and they're preoccupied by something else that is threatening them. The movies themselves don't have too many examples of direct facehugger versus your reflexes. Plus the predator that threw the bladed thingy and cut one in half had plenty of reaction time.

Awesome! Looks like my system is comparable to the recommended requirements.

This game will totally kick ass if they add L4D coop elements to it. That's what the previous games desperately needed. There's so much potential for this game, I hope they don't squander it.

Found some interesting information on the multi-player features. It seems there will be a coop survival mode similar to the L4D survival mode. No actual coop mode though. Other multi-player modes include an infestation mode where one player starts as an alien, everyone else starts as a marine and every marine killed by an alien turns into an alien. Then there's a similar mode where one player is a predator and whenever a marine kills the predator he becomes the predator. Then there's your standard deathmatch and team deathmatch.

Not sure if this is a new video or not. It shows predator gameplay. Never seen it before.

I love the way you can set a mark for the Predator to get to. I'm sure you can jump yourself too.

I like.

Yeah, that makes sense. Then in that case, they should really just change the name to: "Alien vs Predator...... and some 'Bait'"

Every journo I know who's seen or played this yet, says it looks disappointing. Now the fact that this is an AvP title, and people are still walking away from it not foaming at the mouth with excitement, makes me think I'll leave it a few weeks after release, and gauge the reception, before I buy*.

Now, if there was a co-op....

*Or if there's a demo, get that.

I'd like to know where you've been hearing that. I've been reading some http://forums.sega.com/showthread.php?t=311141 and it sounds like everyone's pretty satisfied. Also there will be a demo out on the consoles later this week and a PC version a little later.
