Why do I need 50 stars under my name as well?
Why do I need to dig for the Community Discussion.

Actually, the CD is attached to every forum in the quick bar. Every. single. one

Not that it matters, because I didn't see a way to minimize forums.

This is pathetic. I'd really hate to see what change does to you all in "real life"

Ever hear of being adaptable? It gets you much, much further in life when you aren't freaking out over every little thing that changes.

 It's really just annoying, quite frankly. Don't like it? Don't come here, simple as that. It's not even that bad, I don't understand what everyone is freaking out about. My dad is a privately contracted graphics designer, who works for companies like Giant bikes and Scott USA. He designs all sorts of bikes, skis, goggles etc etc. I showed him the forums and asked what he thought of the design, and he thought they were jazzy. I just don't get why you all hate it so much.

Design and functionality hold equal importance. There are some who simply do not appreciate the new design. That shouldn't be a shocker, as appreciation of design is 100% subjective. And further, several aspects of functionality have been changed or negated, the most complained about that I see being the horizontal scaling, among others. People have brought up complaints. Should they then just sit silently and not voice them?

Why. These are the forums for Bethsda Softworks, CD is another sub forum within them and linked from every game forum, it doesn't need a place on the landing page.

Why not just bookmark it whilst you are here you can get straight to it bypassing everything else. :)

Bookmarking is a user-required solution; it's akin to saying that responsibility falls to the users to solve mechanics problems in games via user mods. Why not have a CD link from the title page? It cuts down on the amount of page navigation, cuts down on the amount of server pings, and makes more sense than having the same link in 7 different places.

Those are your active post not your overall even though i still havent seen a way to see how many post, they say look in members but i couldnt even find myself

I know what they are, and why I only have those left - not been posting much, rest has been cleaned. I'm just highly amused at the discrepancy.

*edit* Wyatt, I know where to find it. How was I able to calculate the difference in the first place ? I don't exactly walk about memorizing my number of posts on the ESF.

I'm also a graphic designer by trade, and I say they look f'n horrible. But I've always hated the aesthetics of "Web 2.0".

But to gripe on people complaining about "change"? No, we're mostly pointing out all the new flaws that have come about. Such as longer loading times (when we're told that it was to IMPROVE those times), counter-intuitive layouts, non-scaling architecture, etc.Hell, the new site has been up what, a couple hours? And it's already crashed once.

Why? Because I only come here for CD. That's why. ;)

And I don't like bookmarking things. It lets people know what I do with my free time. :ninja: Besides, it was much easier to remember &viewforum=18.

You'll get used to it.

Guys, Its BGSF, but it looks hideous.

I do like having 9 stars though. Makes me feel like an uberpatriarch.

I wish they would make it like the old one, but I am fine with this setup.

Yeah I've heard of it. Now it's my impression forums are used to communicate. Now if many members either can't or get eye strain trying to communicate. Then forums become redundant, no?

I never have nor ever will expect or want the forums to be a "Ohhh shiny!" because they're utilitarian by nature. the forums are where you go to discuss Beth games, they should be quick, clean, and above all user friendly. If i wanted a pretty community with progressive page loads and web 2.0 rounded corners i would have stayed on facebook. Give me usability over appearance, otherwise it's either art or crap (sometimes both).

I guess I?ll need a LOT of time to adjust to this (so it?s Meh... for me). I was so used to the old look, seeing it for years. But I guess in a few weeks, it?ll be Ok. I hope.

I seem to have gained about 20 posts. :P

I don't like the way all the forums are off in seperate categories instead of one big board. Feels less communal. It also takes more clicking for me to get anywhere. I think I'm gonna have to stick some different links in my tabbed favourites bar.

BGSF had the cleanest and simplest system of any forum I know. This is going to take some getting used to. The new colour scheme hurts my eyes more than the old one as well.

It ain't even that bad, the only valid complaint is that some people are getting headaches over it. I think some of you are taking this " wa I don't like it" a bit far

Indeed, I went away for a few minutes to rest my eyes then came back again for another look around, I think the new layout is fine.

I'm liking the forum skins in Fallout 3 and Morrowind
So yes, only problem I have is the eyestrain and headaches that others are experiencing too. Right now the text keeps going fuzzy, I have a headache coming on, and neck ache (possibly from "peering" at the screen). I think it'd be a good idea if the people in charge would take a colour change into consideration.

I used the black/grey theme on the old board as well, so the colours doesn't bother me much really.
The thing I want most now is a wider forum and the old star system.

Too bad people seem to want to leave though.

Meh, not too impressed, but it won't break my soul.

Good: I like having the link bar at the top. I don't really like having to hit [home] and losing my place in the thread if I want to search for something or check my inbox. I also approve of the division of the forums by game series; the main page was getting a little excessive. And my eight stars make my e-peen look bigger.

Bad: The black and grey theme is pretty hard on the eyes, and kind of depressing. The lack of width scaling is really obnoxious; even with my 1280 x-dimension, which is by no means particularly high, there's an unnecessary amount of wasted space on the sides of my screen. People with actual big screens have it far worse. Being able to choose a skin was cool; too bad we can't anymore. The arcane technique for checking absolute post count is a pain (though I suppose it serves me right for wanting to check my post count).

Overall: C-

I don't want to flame but that statement was pretty self centered. I would also like to point out if everyone who didn't like it, left. You would be standing on a dusty road watching everyone else ride outta town on horseback. Then the tumble weed bounces by.

Exactly my point. I had a fair share of arguments with some of the mods here because I didn't agree with some of the policies here. I always felt that the the forum was already pretty much on the edge. Performance wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either. And personally, I blame the servers or configuration of them, because something s obviously wrong with that. I've seen bigger boards, and have even been admin on one of them even, that ran smoother with the same forum software as this one. But the servers that were used were very capable and very well configured. I still find it odd, Zenimax's IT departmant is not capable of sorting out the issue. I mean, it really isn't that hard to migrate from A to B if done properly, just throw the boards down for a day or 3 and you can get really far. Now however we're stuck with this. As you said, it really isn't an approvement over the old frum software, which is still widely used for a very good reason.

Yeah I've heard of it. Now it's my impression forums are used to communicate. Now if many members either can't or get eye strain trying to communicate. Then forums become redundant, no?

@solid moose: I'd bet you loved Vista

I just know what its like trying to update software/hardware and people saying that there is no reason for this, this thing doesn't do that, blah blah blah.

There probably are quite a few reasons for updating to IP3.0, bug fixes, security, etc etc.

My Wish List:

Make the it wider, it looks all squeezed together.
Get rid of the ridiculous tool bar that keeps following me.
Get rid of the backgrounds for the specific game forums, it looks too tacky.
It's too clunky, get rid off some features and keep it simple.
The forums run much slower on my browser than it did previously.

Yep.
