It's Back! #2

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 11:00 pm

Hmmm....

Awful lot of gray on gray on gray going on here. It'd be nice to be able to skin it back to the tan parchment Elder Scrolls theme. I really dislike the light text on a dark background, and would like to be able to get rid of that. And maybe do something about the gray buttons on the gray taskbars.

Awful lot of dead space on the sides too.

I'm not sure about the interface. I think it might just be easier to get around in in the long run, but I can't tell yet, just because I'm not used to it. I'll have to see.

I'd definitely like to see something other than gray on gray on gray, and more forum and less dead space on the sides, but other than that, it seems pretty good.

Not like I can really complain much though-- it's free. :D

Maybe because you can't really use it ?
Maybe because you have to scroll ten times more than before?
Maybe because half the screen is empty (instead of containing interesting things)?
Maybe because "never change a winning team"?
Maybe because most people don't like changes ;-)

edit: I think I rather stop flaming before my Warn Status increases :flamethrower:

I can use it just fine, what can't you use?
I believe you can change the posts per page in you settings
Its a border, its not like its a new idea or anything
"THere is always room for improvement"
Most people don't like change until they realize that it was for the better ;)

Ah, another downside- whenever you click on a link, it changes the page instead of opening a new tab. I have a tendency to close links, so it closes the forum...

Middle clicking fixes that. Didn't take me long to make a habit of it.

We need a poll for "do you like it" with No, Yes, Don't care.

Aaarg, this layout hurts my brain.

If Bethesda wants to drive us away, they are doing a damned good job of it. <_<

It's laggy, I don't like the new star system, I don't like that I can't see user's Avatars when I click on their profile page (visual identification is 60% of how I remember people). It's laggy, the quotes are bulky and too unobtrusive (with the dark background), I can't see the Location under my join date, and it lags like a three legged hippopotamus. And it lags. And everything is too shiny and busy and I can't keep track of anything.

AAAARG, it hurts mah head!

Oh, and who thought we actually cared to connect with Facebook? Are you kidding me? Blech.

This, basically.

Overall, I'd say everything related to the new layout was a waste of time. The new layout actually physically hurts to look at, my head is killing me, and it that doesn't change I won't be coming here nearly as often or ever again, I like this place, I really do. But if it's gonna give me headaches then it's obviously not worth it.

Apart from that, the new navigation is terrible, why would I want to have all the different sections hidden in categories? Why not just have them all visible at once so I can quickly pick where I want to go instead of lagging my way through various folders?

I know change can be good, but only when it improves something. While I'm sure some forum functions are improved, it's not good enough in my opinion. When everything is taken into consideration, I'd say the bad outweighs the good, this wasn't worth it.

Sorry guys but the new forum really svcks. Im color blind and I already have a headache from it. Any way to go to 80col instead of this pitiful 40? I can barely read the lettering and making it larger doesnt help all that much.

I truley already miss the old forum very much. These colors are unacceptable.

As others have already stated, its slow, clunky and just feels wrong..

oh yea, I now have to wear my trifocals where before I didnt. Hate that.

So far Im not impressed.

OK for starters, is there like some setting that I can change which will enable me to choose what percentage of my screen width will be used by the forum? Because http://img25.imageshack.us/img25/4795/afteri.png (although it's centred) and I liked it more http://img411.imageshack.us/img411/6309/beforeo.png.

Holy crap ! :o

Compare !

I actually do not like it at all. Not that it's ugly, but it's not the good ol' BSGF. Plus, I can't read anything on it. For some reason it hurts my eyes. Is there any way to use the default?

EDIT: Oh, and I lost about 900 posts. But it's not that big of a deal, I guess.

I don't really care for it. I liked the old setup better, but then, I always have been resistant to change.... I must be old.

Yeah, this is one of my main gripes. I wasn't sure if it scaled but obviously it doesn't, or if it does it does so badly.

It doesn't scale. I always admired the old layout's ability to scale to different resolutions and screen sizes so it always used up nearly all of the screen width, I hate to see forum's content jammed in the middle of my screen in less than 50% of its width...

The white on blackish grey is really starting to get to me. ANY sort of glare from the lights in my room and I can barely read. The text is beginning to run together and I think I'm about to take a break. It literally is hurting my eyes.

I feel that this is awesome and terrible at the same time. I haven't been this confused since that time I forgot how to sit down.

As has been mentioned, I find the white text on black background hard to read, hard on the eyes. I literally feel my eyes having a hard time. I changed to the Morrowind subforum and it was like instant relief :P

Apart from that, seems fine so far, will take a little getting used to of course. Speed is fine for me :)

Yep. I've been on here about 30 minutes or so and now have a headache. Time to go do something else.

Exactly, I think I remember Beth themselves saying don't fix what isn't broken. Oh and the search bar is driving my IINSANE. Stop following stupid search.

It takes forever to load a page / reply / etc. The non-widescreen svcks. The "Web 2.0" rounding of everything svcks. The floating search bar is annoying as hell.

Overall, the entire layout svcks.

I REALLY hope gamesas did this as a cost-cutting measure, because if they paid for this pile of jaloppy, they made a horrible decision.

It's not just a search bar. It's a link to your profile, messenger, friends, and the link to log out. Saves the time of having to scroll all the way up to the top of the page. Which would take even longer with this new layout.
