It's Back! #5

Yes, I believe they decided to 86 that feature. I'm glad. It's creepy. Plus it inhibits my stalking naughty members. Muahahahahaha*ackcough* ahem. Sorry. Yes, that feature seems to be gone.

It appears you can adjust it in settings.

Click the box next to your name in one of your posts and it shows your total post count.

What box? The only one I can see just shows me my profile.

An issue that is Opera-specific is that there is no Facebook connect option (log in or in the CP). Shows up on Firefox just fine.

... not that it bothers me much since I don't have a facebook page :P But I am certain some of the other Opera users on the forum do.

Though this does mean that there is no way for me to set a profile image, since uploading it yourself is broken :brokencomputer:

It is due to the insane amount of transparency on the site now. People with smooth scrolling nom away at their CPU. Disabling smooth scrolling cures it for most (but it is a dang nice feature)

Mine works perfectly fine. 

Wasn't there a feature earlier today where you could see the last few people who viewed your profile? Is that gone?

I think they got rid of it for privacy reasons.

So inconvenient and a pain in the ass to navigate. It makes coming on the forum at all a hassle. I really hope there'll be an option to go back to the old one or something.

Yeah, let's give it an option to change software versions. That's going to work! :shakehead:

The tiny little box to the right of your name in any of your posts.

The post count displayed should be your total post count.

Maybe next time.

I like em...already used addblocker so not sure what it "actually" looks like.

Never knew there was a Cthulhu game! Gonna go buy that now, so I'd say their new layout was good for business!

Actually, I think it is disabled - I just tested it out with an alt log on, having my profile set to show the last few visitors, but they don't show up.

Not such a fan of it TBH. Needs some new skins, [censored] pain to look at.

What brought on the change, exactly?

And a third thing, have we lost posts but kept out rank?

Hi Archie. No I already tried all that, first thing I did actually. Nothing in there but a big blank abyssal page

Hi One87xe :frog:

I dun like it >:|

Couldn't find CD when I got on the site, had to look up my own posts :P

But yeah, I don't think it looks very nice. It seems smaller and less read-friendly.

Hi Ceebee!
I bookmarked CD. Its a bit weird. :q :poke:

well I would be happy if it wasn't just this narrow bit down the middle of the screen. The addon is nice, but why have all that wasted room on the sides? just makes it harder to read.

Invision was basically forcing people to upgrade in order to get support, or something like that.

Oh noes!!!!!!!! I finally understand why they changed it

They made it harder to read because that way we will post less, it is like a hidden flood control!!!!

As I had mentioned earlier, all old bookmarks auto-redirect to the index now, since they're invalid.
... -snip-

The change also applies to internal forum links - any posts made before the update with links to previous posts are fudged now and also route back to the main page index. Not good. :meh:

[edit] well, internal links are more finicky than bookmarks - you also need to make sure the domain is formatted properly for the new url:

http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/ ...

This is unacceptable imo if the update has gone and broke every inter-forum link, especially since posts in closed threads can't be edited. Even the interlinks within the stickied posts for each forum are broken. :nono:

I can't find where to change skins?

I can only read with the default skin for very brief periods before feeling nauseous. It hurts my eyes and head.

Further, white on black, at this intensity, can and will cause eyestrain.

What happened? How come the person who made this skin has seemingly never studied even the most basic tenets of design before? Surely Bethesda can get someone better than this?

I just noticed when you go to add a name in your ignore list, it has a dropdown with a list of member names. That's cool and all, but there's no background to it so you end up seeing grey text on top of grey text...

4. Now, here's the biggest difference. The new system has the thread title in the URL, so you need to take the old thread title, and put it after the topic number, using dashes as spaces.

What if we can't remember what the thread title was?

I can't find it either; and I can't even remember what it used to look like... (I was using one of the dark-grey BGSF skins)

Edit: A question about the new forum sofware - will topics no longer be pruned with age? It's very annoying...

You can't choose skins or themes anymore, and the ability to do so can't be implemented (straight from Gstaff)

The Forums Skins thread has some more information, as well as things to do to make it more bearable.

I like the dark background with light letters, its the small print and chaos of other stuff I don't need to see around it that makes me sick.

Id also like to know about the skins, everyone has different eyes

GStaff said it would be a pain to implement, not that it is impossible. The http://www.invisionpower.com/products/board/features/lookandfeel.php about it even says it is possible

Multiple Skins

Allow users to customize their own experience by offering multiple skins for them to choose from. You can even specify which skin should be used based on the device being used to access your community.
