A call to the wolfpack #2

Post » Sat Jun 16, 2012 9:47 pm

Well now, that was a bit of waste. I've tried 'Master of the Mind' and my how of terror did not work on undead, daedra or automatons. We really do need the new perk tree then.

Also, try to create Fortify alteration potions. It saves you from having to exit wolf form and recast a shield spell. Mix it with some enchanting and you can make potions that will keep your shield up for quite some time.

I was fooling around with the Jay-Cub thing. There is no way you guys thought I was serious, did you? Hahah.

Of course. That's why I posted a reply in the same kind of moodset

Though having a somewhat lesser masculine wolfboy in our pack, would really provide for a great distraction in a massive battle.

I don't mean to be a party pooper, but I think we all have the same back story for being a werewolf =)

I kinda intrigued by the new perk tree though. I may even start using my beast form. Right now I find it pretty useless.

Challenging would be a better way to put it. That's why I've picked up my beast form. The game isn't really challenging with a base character.

i do so love hunting in the northern reaches of skyrim, around morthal, dawnstar and solitude is where i like to hunt most, the scenery is perfect for a hunter (and solitude is a perfect place to attack imperial supporters)

For fun, abuse enchanting and alchemy a little to make some Ragged Pants that Fortify Alteration and boost Magicka Regen. I don't see it as cheating as it takes a fair amount of coin and or leg work to gather the needed ingrediants, and I stop at what is effectively a Master Robe of Alteration in Wolfman Pants form.

Werewolf Howls count as shouts. Those of you fond of spamming the howl of terror need only check under the Magic section of your General Stats to confirm. Makes me wish the Shrine of Talos actualy worked.

My real character. Third werewolf character, yet to make an appearance in Skyrim. His father was of Redguard descent and his mother was Imperial, so he has a bit of tan skin that resulted from his father's genes. But he is mostly Imperial than anything. I wanted to delve into a bit of Native American influence, so he's inspired from that. No Twilight involved here. Elder Scrolls Lycanthropy ties in with Native American lore very much. And besides, my ancestors were South American natives to the Amazon. Don't know which tribe though :(. I will post an ingame pic later whenevr I get my PS3 fixed. So far I contacted an artist and had the privilige of having Lycus be inspired by the artwork.

I still have much to develop with this character.

Name: Lycus Castius Desselius. Nicknamed "Lycus The Hunter."

Gender: Male

Age: 24

Race: Imperial

Skills: Hand to Hand, Spear, Blade and Blunt as well as archery. No proficient skills in magic. Lycus has much skill in playing the drums and the lute.

http://oi42.tinypic.com/25eusy0.jpgLycus stood 1.82 meters tall. As his father Kraven, Lycus had brown colored skin and hazel eyes as well as the muscular build and the long black hair. However, he is much thinner than his father. His lips and eyes were full and lively.

Despite his strong build and status as a warrior, Lycus was subtle when it came to being a hunter and often relied on his guile as on muscle and skill in melee. Unlike his father who spoke with gravelly voice which was raspy, Lycus had more of a simple and low voice, as if he was sad and with low self esteem. Such displays of sadness was often seen in his facial expressions as well.

Weapons: Lycus carries with him a silver spear and an axe. The spear had ancient inscriptions along the body and the edge as well, a weapon that was passed onto him by his father. His crossbow was also in remembrance of his mother, who was skilled in the use. Among these things, he also has a sharp hunting combat knife which he holds close.

http://oi42.tinypic.com/i4l7oy.jpg He is usually garbed with his own armor made of fur. The armor covered his waist and thighs and was very durable. When in warmer climates such as Cyrodiil and some environments in Skyrim, he walks freely sans shirt. Most of the time, however, he is armored with silver or steel with a insignia on the shoulders.
Other Items: A number of books; Lycanthropic Legends of Skyrim, On Lycanthropy, and Physicality of werewolves. Other books such as the Totems of Hircine and “Kraven’s Journal.” Items such as food and potions he can salvage from animals and abandoned forts. As for jewelry, Lycus carries an ancient wolf amulet. He also has a lute in his possession.

Personality: Lycus is instinctive and knowledgeable. He is distrustful of new people, but he is known to have a softer side when it came to the people he knows and cares about. Lycus had an honorable code which was passed onto to him by his father. Much of his life as a warrior was done under these guidelines. These moral codes would shape his life as a Bounty Hunter and a man of respect. Lycus was more of a lone wolf who usually kept to himself, this was due to his mother’s fate and his father’s destiny years prior to his maturity in his condition.

He also adopted traits from his mother when he became a Bounty Hunter to honor her name. He took on fugitives and criminals in which he could bring down with brutal justice and merciless honor. He paid close attention to his situations and always double-checked his surroundings.

The fate of his mother inspired within him a deeply rooted animosity against the Vigilantes of Stendarr and the Silver Hand. The events after his mother’s death that molded and shaped his future and also scarred his life. This resulted in him honoring and glorifying his parents whenever he could in his actions and at times, his speech.

History: Born to a relatively wealthy family of warriors and hunters of an ancient bloodline, Lycus grew up in the Darksky manor near the Great Forest. From a young age, he learned how to hunt and fight as a warrior from both of his parents skilled in such use. His father was a former slave gladiator which was famous in Vivec City and in Cyrodiil for his title as Champion. His mother was a huntress and a infamous Bounty Hunter who retired after she bore offspring.

His childhood was one of peace and tranquility. Growing up, he was well-educated in various topics of family history and worldly affairs; Politics, hunting, ancient legends and etc. Even though he has studied the field of politics to an extent, he never cared to get involved with it as guidance from his parents. Even with his wealth, he was humble to other who had less than him. At the age of twelve, he learned how to use a real sword after years of practicing with the wooden sword. He was taught how to hunt by his mother and father, and was schooled in the ways of a warrior. His later life as a mercenary would be ultimately his to choose. Yet he still had much to learn in his long and perilous career.

Following the fate of his parents, Lycus inherited the family manor and belongings. He also claimed much territory within the Great Forest. He began to expand his ideas on how to preserve his ancient bloodline. He became bounty hunter in honor of Vera, and in hopes to be as successful as the huntress herself when she lived. He often hunted for targets around the province and left the manor in the care of bodyguards and loyal servants. Lycus had mind to transport the family belongings to Skyrim and begin anew while preserving the legacy,

Storywise, he uses a spear. Gameplay wise, archery and one-handed and block.

If it suits you, it suits you, but I think that would be difficult for me to RP. Willing suspension of disbelief and all that. Good job though; you're very thorough.

Fenris. Orc Berserker. 6 feet 9 inches. 300lbs. Born under the stars of the Lord.
Gear: Saviors Hide, Hircine's Ring, Gauldur Amulet, The Rueful Axe, Stormcloak Officer Gauntlets and Boots.

Savage even by Orc standards, when the Blood Moon called him he turned the Wyld Hunt completly inside out. Fueled by a berserker rage he gorged on the blood the milk drinkers who dared challenge one of Hircine's Hounds before turning and tearing the skin from the coward Sinding himself. Greatly pleased, the Lord of the Hunt granted Fenris both of his boons. The Saviors Hide crafted from Sinding's own pelt and the Ring from his hand.

My other werewolf and my first character is a lvl 63 Nord Witch-Hunter by the name of Freya Ulfsdottr. It was with her I discovered the wonders and joys of Skyrim and being a werewolf. Fenris is simply the one character built just to be a wolf. only keep the axe and gear because they look cool and there are just sometimes when changing isn't an option.

A righteous werewolf? Hircine would be displeased.

Hircine wasn't mad when I saved Sinding.

I just saw this thread and have also just started a new werewolf character so I figured I'd ask what everyone prefers for armor and weapon. I was thinking heavy armor and a battleaxe, kinda going for that hulking beast of a man feel while not transformed. I'm pretty sure I'm gonna stick with the two hander but I'm sorta on the fence about heavy or light armor.
Are there any gear choices that seem to work really well with playing a werewolf?

Thinking I'll go smithing, sneak, and enchantment at least in addition to my armor tree and weapon tree. Any other ideas here as well?

It's a mater of personal prefferance. Do you preffer to be quick on your feet and rely on reflexes or plant your feet and slog it out. Light armor for the first, heavy for the second. I tend to go light simply because I can't seem to stop myself from getting the Savior's Hide.

Oh I understand all that, I could probably have worded it better. I'm just curious to know what others have found to be effective. I honestly like both types but haven't gotten very far into either tree even though I play a bunch. I was thinking though that if I'm gonna use sneak too then light may be best, too bad it isn't useful while in werewolf form as others have said. Only reason I was thinking of heavy is 1. the whole big hulky warrior aspect and 2. more protection while using a two hander.

My orc/werewolf uses a warhammer and heavy armor,I love the berserker rage power with this set up.
I like to transform into a werewolf to get fast and go hunting, also useing the berserker rage before transforming makes for a very powerfull slug it out type werewolf.
This works great for me and I love it,but if you are going with sneak also then light armor would probably be better.
Or you could take a couple of illusion perks,up to apprentice, and cast muffle and not even worry about what type of armor you have.

Looks like you answered your own question then. You're looking for a big ol' tank. Heaviest armor you can find and the best warhammer you can get your hands on. Also strongly recamend investing in block perks. Quick Reflexes, Power Bash and Disarming Bash don't require a sheild to take advantage of them. And allow you more versitility with that big beat stick you're swinging. Toss in Boethiah's Ebony Mail and you'll look a right terror as you wade into your foes.

Thanks for the replies, there was just one more thing I thought of. Does anyone know if any of the races get a more grey colored fur? I know male nords are black fur but I haven't tried any other races out, and I don't really feel like spending all the time it would take to figure it out just for some aesthetic.

The only difference is the size of the werewolf and I believe that is more a matter of gender then race. The appearance is identical.

You can be a green scaled argonian and still have the same black furred werewolf form. lol. and i understand why. It let them put more time and detail into the wolf modle they already have. Not sure if you ever tried it but animating hair of anykind is a nightmare.

Oh damn, I could have sword I read somewhere that the fur colors vary among the races. Guess it makes my decision easier haha

I wouldn't do more than one crafting tree. Personally, I've always loved Alchemy the most, but I see the appeal of all three and I can really get into it. However, I wouldn't do Alchemy and Heavy Armor just because of the massive weight you'll be putting on yourself.

Personally, my werewolf is a Nord paladin. One Handed, Heavy Armor, Block, Restoration and Enchanting. It plays like a basic sword-and-board except that Restoration makes him even more tanky. I haven't gotten very far with Enchanting yet, so I'm just using it for skill and profit, but when I'm good enough, I'm going to have some of the bulkiest armor around. Extra health, magicka, and stamina galore on top of regen and blocking efficacy and magical resistances. My weapons are going to be the bane of evil with enchantments like fire damage, magicka damage, absorb magicka and turn undead.

So far it's very fun and I highly recommend it. Deadric artifacts have been good to me, and I'm on my way to get Spellbreaker. It already has a good armor rating and a great ward, but what makes it amazing is that since it's a shield and the ward only comes up when blocking, I get to activate Elemental Protection with it, meaning that before any damage is even calculated, I'm already resisting 50% of fire and shock and have reached the cap for frost resistance! It's great. Dawnbreaker is probably going to be my weapon of choice, especially in crypts, complimented by the Mace of Molag Bal (which I have), which combos well with Azura's Star (which I'm questing to get this very moment). Outside of using Dawnbreaker against undead, the mace is a spectacular weapon: all enemies either rely on magic or they don't, and the mace does magicka and stamina damage on top of soul trapping them.

The mace really helps me feel in control of the battlefield (thanks, Molag Bal!). I haven't gotten Hircine's Ring yet (don't need to yet, anyway), but I'm going to once I have the Star and Spellbreaker.

This is a good idea, too. Consider Light Armor and Two Handed, though, for that barbarian feel; being light on your feet and swinging a big axe can really put the hurt on a lot of enemies.

Well Ive claimed the reach for my territory hunting thalmor on the roads plenty of bandit camps and falmer strong holds it's perfect, add in rolling through morthal and only targeting guards and its like Christmas.

Cool hunting tip with the spirit wolves, howl them charge at a pack of enemies at The last moment jump over them (takes practice) if done right the AI wont know who to target do you can quickly knock one or two over before they realise whats going on, and because of no cool downs you can just keep spawning them.
