Character Which Size Will You Pick?

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 5:13 am

Guns are overrated. Plus the game seems to have lots of covers and interactive objects in the surroundings so I guess knives will do. And heavy runner can be sort of supply-support characker, bringing med-kits, ammo, intel, setting charges and stuff like that.

if they take away the guns then what will we use......stones and strong words lol :mohawk:

Hello. I would most likely go light as long as you can use all of the assault rifles. Or medium. Obi Wan-A great leap foreward sometimes requires two steps back.[i] Anakin- But sometimes all it requires is the will to jump.

Mostly lite-weight but I'll adjust to the situation. On defense I'll probably be heavy unless I'm sniping. I doubt I'll ever go medium.

Splash damage has forums also. They've stated, was talk.... There will be no sniping from what I've read and heard.

Guns for a sho' knives for a pro... The first weapon for heavy runner before all upgrades could be jack knife or dusters.

Tough choice but quite reasonable, because a good sniper can cause an unholy amount of butthurt. In tf2 they did a good thing giving players archery as an alternative for sniping, because many players couldn't use the rifle effectively.

Right now everyone is saying light, but when they all get gunned down, blown up, and sniped. There gonna change to either medium or Heavy

Yeah but as soon as they stand still, they won't have enough health, to survive.

I almost always go for the light weight classes, ever since TF really, it's just my style.

First Rule of Tournament Paintball:
Light and Tight. ( not tight clothing, but in terms of avoiding the paintball chicken wing/keeping your body as small as possible, which is a nice term to describle pther players with bad form)

Lite-speed without a doubt. I'm going to be free-running all over the place as an Operative.

Light here.
Idea of fast movement + close fight weapons like blades, or pistols is sweat.
Also sniper + fast place changing.

well, you can only use a knife if you're using a pistol, otherwise you use your weapon, and there are no insta-kill melee attacks.

Also, 'sniping' is not what what you expect it to be from previous games, especially since NO GUN is powerful enough to kill in one shot by default.

(dev posts from SD forums)

Striking someone with the butt of your two handed weapon hurts a bit. striking someone with a knife (which you only have equipped with a pistol) hurts a lot. neither of them are insta-kills, they just deliver damage. now, if you're a standard skinny with no health buffs, yeah, a knife strike will kill you, because you don't have many hit points, but if a medic has buffed you, or if your team has taken a health command post, etc., your safe from insta knife kills too (unless, of course, you're already hurt... knifes can be great 'finishers' if the enemy has been softened up, but even a gunbutt can do that too, if they're weak enough)

By default, no gun is powerful enough to kill anyone with one bullet. BUT, there are in-game upgrades to temporarily increase the power of the gun, and equally, there are upgrades to increase the length of one's life meter. So there's kind of an escalating arms race of weapon power vs. life power that helps ensure that every encounter is unique, and the tide of battle can turn at any moment.

We kind of cheat a little and label our 'sniper rifles' as 'light weapons' (and therefore, light characters can use them). It's not really a cheat though, because as Ed Stern has mentioned in interviews in the past, while we have guns that look like a sniper rifle and sound like a sniper rifle and are scoped like a sniper rifle, we're not a game that has sniper rifle style "go hide on a hill in the bushes and wipe out every enemy you see with one shot kills", so they're nowhere near as powerful as one you'd find in other games, for instance. So to use them effectively, you've either got to favour the skinny guys (who have fewer than average hitpoints), or think of sniping more as a 'softening the enemy up' so that your other teammates can finish them off...

I'd say light. I'm not typically the direct conflict type. If the situation calls for more offense, I'd go operative and mix things up behind enemy lines, meaning light for fast entry/exit and whatnot. If the situation calls for more defense, I'd go engineer and work on turret emplacements and buffing, meaning light for reaching the best turret drop spots and getting to allies to buff them faster. Either way light for me.

I can definitely see the appeal for the other two, though. Anyone who excels in full-in, direct confrontation would wanna go heavy, and anyone who's good and versatile, adapts to anything would make good use of medium. I think we'll see fairly even numbers of each bodytype in game.

For me I think I'll be good juggling with two characters depending on the situation;

1st Char; Light - Operative / Engineer hybrid

2nd Char; Heavy- Big meaty Medic/Explosive Assault hybrid

from what i can tell from all I've read I'll be able to go as my Op and test the waters and see where everyone's at
once i get found out and eventually die I'll be able to bring out the big guns on a weakened location.

Cant wait! >.<

Unfortunately its been stated that as of right now, while you can change your class (soldier, medic, op, engineer) at any time during a match by visiting a command post, you can ONLY switch characters or change the long term attributes of one character (clothing, body type, tats, etc) in between fights. You can't go light to scout ahead and then swap to heavy when the fighting gets rough.

This game is all about adapting and evolving during the scenario. To just pick one build doesn't seem helpful for the team in completing objectives. But I understand people will have their first and favorite choices.
it would be just as helpful or more cause you will get better at playing one way not 3 as long as your team has a variety then i could see switchn and as long as you stick to stuff you can do a not worry bout getn all the xp plus you can't switch in a game only your claas and i would go light operator and engineer
