Character Which Size Will You Pick?

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 8:51 am

mediums cool and all, but you'r sorta a jack of all trades, master of none.

heavy is just out of the question for me, i despize tanking loosers who just stand there and go "i beat you becuause i have more health" thats why i usually play something fast and light, so i can get outa there and reign down pain onto them where they cant get to me easy

In no way really is a Medium a jack of all trades, he can use most of the guns and parkour over most objects. The size of the character can't really say that they are going to be jack of trades, considering you can get skills that generally help or help specific things. Also, "tanking loosers" and "i beat you because I have more health" isn't true either. Just because a person is a Heavy doesn't mean you can automatically assume they are tanks. If you see my sig, it's because I plan to make some main characters (class based on size), one of which being a Heavy Operative, and I can assure you I would be more stealthy than a fat Sam Fisher. Last but not least "- and reign down pain onto them where they cant get me easy." Well, that is probably untrue. If the maps are really balanced, and since it's campaign head to head, it's highly likely, there shouldn't be many places where you can't get hit easy.

The Heavy type
Why?
Because I want to be on the front lines and basically be of help to Ops and Medics.
If you think of the game in terms of "Army of Two" I'll be the player drawing attention(agro) to myself while others are safe to complete objectives and generally move around. I'll be general combat wheather I'm attacking or defending.
I've been thinking about this a lot,and although I'd like to be light weight and mobile I figure that most people will be doing that. if we don't have actual fighters on the team it could mean that both my teams attacking and defending powers will be weak all around.I'll be that guy whoes attacking constantly, and is the main direct fighting force on the field.

Prolly going to be an operative, because I love sneaking, sniping and backstabbing people. Being quick on my feet makes sense to me for that type of play, so I'll be a lightweight. Maybe I'll try other body types if I find another playstyle that I like, but the little man will be my favorite I'm wagering. I'm also a small guy myself, so bonus points because my lightweight fellow will look the most like me :)

just a few things,

firstly, isnt a jack of all trades someone who can do most things? so from what you described the midium is a jack of a trades, not that theres anything wrong with that, it can be very useful

and there are many times when someone just go's "i win because i have more health" global adgenda, tf2 and all those things. so i have found a great way to beat those people is to get out of their way and hit them hard when they cant get to you easy. like on tf2 with sniper and heavy

sniper rifles are not tied to Operatives. Anyone can use them - any class, any body type. And you are aware that by default, no gun can kill in one hit - this goes for snipers also.

Good to know about the sniper rifles, thanks for telling me! I figured no gun can one hit kill, excepting things like headshots, so no surprise their either. I'll still be a lightweight, though. When sniping, I try to move to new posts regularly, and that'll be easier as a fast guy. One of the first things friends who play way more multi-player FPS games than I do suggested I try when I first picked up the genre with the battlefield series.

I'm pretty sure not even headshots are one hit kills.

this is from a Q&A here - http://brink.chefenco.com/ish/crossfire-nu/

Q: How will the headshots be and how meny do you need to make for a kill?

A: We’re not an insta-kill game like counterstrike or rainbow six. it’s usually a few bullets to the cranium at least before anyone will go down, and there’s of course extra complexity based on what weapon you have, what body type the other guys is, etc. Everyone’s not a big meat bag that takes forever to put down. I think we’re at a good compromise between the two extremes.

Dang it, you beat me to it. I like this fact of the game because it is more RPG-like. I was hoping that they would give you some exp if you got a couple of hits on someone and then someone else finish the person off.

you most likely will get points for doing that, 1) they are assists and helpful to the team and 2) that is basically how sniper rifles in this game work - softening up enemies for your team to finish.

Yea, I figure. I just didn't know what excatly the rratio was. MW2 was just 20 x no matter what assistance you gave and BFBC2 was more proportional to how much damage you did

I said you can't assume that it's "I win because I have more health." There more you need to take into account in a fight. Oh, and by teh way, this isn't Global Agenda, Team Fortress Two, or All Those Things. This is Brink.

And people should read my Manly Man Gaming Guide. It clearly states that the only way to play the game is to have the biggest most musclebound character, aka, the heavy.

LIGHT LIGHT LIGHT!!!

I can't wait to freak out hardcoe FPSers, by being able to move so fast they can't camp and just play like every other game. I'll force them to play a different game ;)

Medium at first, probably, then switching it up as I go along depending on what I feel like doing at the time. "Variety is the spice of life." That's a motto I can get behind whole-heartedly. I'll probably be a completely different character every three or so matches, personally.

Huh, there's not a lot of heavy love here eh? I thought the idea of being a big buff bruiser would be more appealing, really. I think Brink's going to be full of monkeys for the first few weeks...

probably, but it won't last. You'll have players who are disappointed that they can't move like Neo, others will be upset at the lack of health and/or firepower available to Lights, and then the community will even out with people who can play Lights effectively. That's what I see happening - or something similar.

SMGs are in every class, not just light... See how long the respawn time is, we'll see how much free running is going on

Probably gonna go heavy. Security with "The Bomb" archetype so I'll be mahoosive looking although I'll have to say goodbye to most of the freerunning.

medium, so i can try more weapons throughout the game

it all depends though, i gotta play the game first. If light weapons are good, ill go light. Ill try heavy for other weapons, etc.
Ill most likely choose a favorite weapon and choose the size that goes with it. Im sorta looking for a assault rifle with good accuracy
