Character Which Size Will You Pick?

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 6:35 am

there is one gametype - objective - no CTF no DM or TDM, just class based team onjective gameplay - on or offline.

you will always play as an attacker or defender depending on the mission - you can choose to play through these in the campaign (story mode) in standard matches (no stroy attached) and I know stopwatch mode is in (the same objective gameplay, just whatever time it takes for a team to win, the next match the other team has that much time to beat it)

they did this to focus on the team element - if you put one-hit kill snipers in, you're going to have everyone hiding trying to bang out headshots - if you make snipers less effective, you have less people sniping.

to give you an idea of how low health is for Lights - without a health buff, a knife can one-hit kill a light.

But without details, we don't really know how significant that is. If a knife can one-hit a Light, and leave a medium with 1% health, then it's not such a big deal. Also, if a Light's health is so low, he must be REALLY ****** fast.

Gonna go for the lite-speed, for running and hiding then backstab people with knife/or if possible jump down from a building and attack with knife from upwards that would be awesome :D

It really bugs me how all these people are like "I'm gonna be a fast ninja with my melee, I'm gonna jump down and backstab with my knife, etc." It bugs me for 2 reasons -

1) I have explained countless times that melee weapons are not insta-kill.
2)How all these people are soooo excited to use the knife in a first person SHOOTER. It's like the knife has gained such popularity in other games as being a one-hit kill machine, that players are actually more anxious to use it than the damn guns, in a game that centers around shooting. I just can't wait till they all play the game, not realizing you can't one-hit kill with the knife, or get a one-hit kill headshot with the sniper.

I will be going light because I am a pretty light guy in real life. I tend to make my characters like me in build when I play games with the ability to do so.

If the sniper tower is that tall I doubt it would help your team lol :ahhh:

Imo the enemy uniform for operative should work considering how hard it is to get an enemy uniform in the first place, but they don't want players to be OP i guess. Also, since they are taking out FF, the only reason not to attack a teammate is so you don't get negative XP.

Personally, I think the disguise should only be revealed after a player uses radar from interrogation, but that's just me. After all, it is a waste to have one operative running around with your crew, probably as a heavy at that point since he won't see any field work.

As far as I'm concerned, a good team layout would be:

Heavy/Med Soldier
Heavy/Light Medic
Light/Light Operative
Heavy/Light or Med Engineer

That's just me though. And I will almost always be Light Operative, if not Light Engie, since I would probably go MVP, spamming them until I get an opening. I must say, this game will be an odd dynamic. My least favorite class would be light medic because it would no doubt be the most boring for me.

they shouldn't be that hard to get. If it is anything like previous SD games, you just take them from fallen enemies.

they're not "taking it out" - it's an option...you can play with it on or off.

Unless players will be as stupid as me, I would think it would be hard to get disguises, considering there is a large XP bonus for it (200?). However, I guess it could be similar to previous games, though I would guess that a dead enemy body would be near enemies.

Friendly fire should be either all off or all on for console players though, unless they have gamemodes for that sort of thing.

Just another reason to get PC for the dedicated servers.

Usually, I think this would work:

Light Operative/Engineer~ "If you can't beat 'em, sneak over 'em and take thier command post." Light would allow maximum sneakiness. Getting around barriers, getting objectives as stealthily as possibly, and taking enemies out from behind thier own lines would surely be a help to the team. Also allowing to get up to the highest vantage point would make for great sniping points and turret points :3.

Medium Soldier~ "Either move out of the way, or I'll blast a hole through." Medium allows for good coverage, while allowing you to have some protection. Light Operatives and Engineers are sneaky, not because they can be, but because they would need to be able to sneak around and accomplish objectives easier. Medium soldiers would be able to get to good fire points, to be able to blast enemies on the front lines, and to be able to get to objectives without having to take the stealth route.

Heavy Medic~ "TTTTTAAAAAAAAAAANNNNNKKKKK." The toughest of the tough, ripping through frontlines objectives, and taking as many out with them as possible. Now, you may be wondering why would you want to be a Heavy Medic, when Medics are usually support. A Medic doesn't need to be support, and the Heavy Medic would be able to take or deliver a lot of gunfire, and then heal themself or their team.

H0RSE, i understand your frustrations about people wanting to be light so they can run around backstabbing people even after all you have said but people will be people and they want what they want, viable or not and you're going to have to understand that this post might be the first post on the entire Bethesda forum that that person has ever visited and so might have missed your info compendium (which isn't stickied yet :poke: )

That aside im still pretty sure we're going to find alot of people still going the old CQC route with the operative; i know i will at least once just to get it out of my system, even though stabs on Med+ aren't going to be 1shot kill I'm still pretty sure lights are hell of a lot fast so it probably wont be rare to see someone single out a heavy on their way to the objective and dance around them with a knife (avoiding the gun butt). Even if it doesn't directly help the objective you must realize it's still fun.

I don't argue with you often so if you do reply please be nice :ahhh:

I just want to throw a poll up to see what people pick early and then do a one closer to launch and compare then

(Yes I just saw I mess up in the thread info I hate words)

In a game designed for movement and getting around in interesting ways, a light class works the best and has clear advantages, though there will be certain playstyles that will focus on fighting more than movement and they would be better fat.

I would prefer mid as it allows you to be more versatile.

Well I'll do what I always do. Get to a strategic position as quickly as I can, as quietly as I can, and with as much firepower as I can carry, and reign down retribution upon my enemies like some form of angry god.

what "stealth" are you talking about? Lights don't get ninja vanish or a hide in shadows ability...they have to steal a disguise off enemies, so it's not like they are going to waltz in undetected...they need to steal a uniform first.

I'm gonna go with a medium body type if I get this game, mostly just to be balanced. I also think it's really stupid that all these people are saying "i wanna be a light parkour ninja with my knife and sniper rifle..." when there isn't any stealth and knives/sniper rifles aren't 1-hit kills.

Medium. Don't want to sacrifice speed or health for one another.

I would choose a light type, but hopefully still be able to use an assault weapon kit.

The scout is my favourite class in TF2, so I'm hoping for a better version of that.

Most likely medium for me. I'll test them all out though to see which one I like the most.

mediums cool and all, but you'r sorta a jack of all trades, master of none.

heavy is just out of the question for me, i despize tanking loosers who just stand there and go "i beat you becuause i have more health" thats why i usually play something fast and light, so i can get outa there and reign down pain onto them where they cant get to me easy
