I completed the quest without the corruption bug to occur. I don't know if it helps, but I completed it with disabled emotions "toggleemotions". Just tried it again with activated emotions, bug didn't occur.

Throwing in additional information:
- never touched the space suit
- had the needed components before entering the facility, by luck.
- had the model rockets and the "fuel canister".
- I own a u.s. uncut version and play in German language.

Maybe it helps to locate the cause of the bug.

Im wondering if it has to do with the human guy who thinks he is a ghoul.
I did the speech thing and got him to see the truth, he then wanted revenge, talked him out of it and he said he would return to Novac closeby and live as a proper human.
Thing is, in the 30 mins after the quest i ran around a little but never seen him, thats why all of my saves were hit cause i tend to save alot hoping i will survive a crash or something... offcourse now my saves are all corrupt and i lost my playtime.

Seriously. I have lost all progress between the old saves disappearing issue and this quest corrupting saves, about 14 hours worth of gameplay. At this point I have zero desire to even play this game again if they fix it (doubtful) and I certainly don't have any desire to buy any of their future products if this atrocious quality and level of support is indicative of their culture.

What worked for me was to kill Harland after he goes back upstairs (but before sending Bright down to the rockets).
Just target Harland and use the kill command in the console, so you dont make anyone else hostile. This wont interfere with completing the quest, since Harland is expendable.

Please post if this works for anyone else. It worked for me with no further issues (now 80+ gameplay hours).


Developers:
If any Devs read this, I think the problem is with Harland's space suit. When I console killed him, he was wearing 2 space suits simultaneously, which could cause some sort of crash bug in loading the save file.
I suspect he is carrying a spacesuit which he puts on, and then a second spacesuit is probably equipped when he runs down with all the rest of the followers (or something like that).
It also appears that Harland's two spacesuits have different object IDs. Perhaps something is messed up with one of his spacesuits (?).

A lot of people (myself included), are seeing the bug trigger when they leave the REPCONN test facility and return after getting those items. If you never had to leave and come back during the quest, then that may at least one explanation why you didn't run into the bug (although there are probably other scenarios that sidestep the bug, too).

Small consolation to those of us without saves from before the quest started, though...

I was one of the unlucky ones without a good save prior to being in the facility and I struggled for hours and read all the threads regarding the issue. For those stuck I suggest you just keep trying. It isn't a specific part of the quest or location in the facility that's triggering it, it seems to be quite random and the good news is even if you are stuck down there without an earlier save there is hope. You could randomly get a save that works. I was stuck without a save prior to just before you're supposed to tell Jason the path is cleared and I went thru the final part of the quest several times with many corrupted saves and eventually got a good save. I've played about 15 hours since without issue. The save that finally worked for me was finishing the quest, traveling to and discovering Helios One and then manually saving but again I think it was just random that that save worked because prior I had managed a good save in the launch room and then the issue reappeared. I know it's tedious but just keep trying until you get a clean save with the quest completed and you having left the area. I did disable autosave while struggling to rid myself of the issue but not sure that made any difference. Seriously think the good save was just random luck. Keep at it guys that are stuck!

P.S. I left Harlan alive. I think the issue might be if you discover the info about Boulder City before finishing the quest, by searching Manny's room for example but that's just a guess.

Seriously. If you have a save file that loads, kill Harland and then compelte the quest and see if that resolves the issue. If so, please post here.

One thing I hadn't done was discover a new location after finishing the quest. So I loaded up my good save (from right before entering the REPCONN basemant to give Chris the stuff), finished the quest, then discovered Helios One and saved again.

No luck. It possibly is a random issue, but in my case I know exactly when it the bug comes to life: the instant I enter the REPCONN basemant after returning to the facility with the rocket fuel.

Like you, I also thought that learning of the Boulder City info prematurely (from Manny's terminal) could have been an issue, since you can't learn it from Manny himself until you finish the quest. Fortunately my good save is from before I got into the terminal in his hotel room, so I was able to try the quest without knowing this info. Unfortunately (in my case) the problem persists.

still no word on a game breaking.. no destroying bugg.
Need answers, product was released a week ago, and even then these reports were streaming in, and its not just this quest, apperantly vaults too.
Give us a work around or disable it for christ-sake, dont make us play it and get messed up over and over.

Also had this bug and was tearing my hair out, but I did as suggested earlier and killed Harland and this seems to have done the trick, fingers crossed.

My save games works just fine after completing this quest. I haven't experienced anything any of you people describe. Guess I'm just luck or it's something else that makes the save games corrupt.

What annoys me most is that my GF did the quest without problems.. she's trailing happily w/o a care in the world (except for mutants and cannibals trying to kill her around every corner..)

they wont ever fix it. if the do it will be a month from now. gotta love buying a game and a week later its still un-playable cause of this bug and several others. i think beacuse of the crap they put us through they should give the first expansion away for free....well after all this crap they might have to anyways cause i doubt i'll buy it seeing how broke this game is.

But the first DLC will be an Xbox exclusive to be launched this december holidays.
So PC users yet again get pissed on.

Every save and quicksave was working fine to load until i have reached that quest. Not straight away have played in that quest for a while.
Can there be a problem when u run over new quests when u already working on another? normally it wouldnt be a problem, but maybe a game issue

Bethesda, I previously posted in this thread to draw your attention to the plight of my character, stuck in a limbo forged from corrupted saves. I use several rolling save files, and for once your game didn't crash for an hour or whatever after the quest, while the bug was feasting on my save files like some hellish parasite.

This problem is actually getting worse, as not only can I not play the game with this character, which makes me very unhappy, but my character appears to be haunting me, desipite being trapped somewhere in the ether. Lights turn off and on randomly in my home, the taps run blood instead of water, and all the mirrors show a crash to desktop image instead of reflecting. Also, instead of beeping when it finishes, the washing machine stays on a spin cycle, which modulates in a way that sounds like it is saying "Why did you complete the quest? Please, fix the game and relase me from my torment, not even boone can kill these demons", then sobbing noises come from the drain.

If a fix for this is not forthcoming, I'll be forced to fly to Rockville, Maryland, and disembowel myself on the steps of your fine establishment in the hope that my lifeblood will sate the thirst of this angered electronic hell you have awoken.

Also having this problem. I was partway though the Come Fly With Me quest, having now the game crashes when I try to load all my most recent saves. What a waste of time! How did this get past beta testing?

One week and five pages worth of people with the same problem, and still no word from the developers?
