Dawnguard: Block Out the Sun

Post » Fri Jun 22, 2012 6:43 pm

the main problem is a lore explanation for "who won".

also, apparantly lore-wise all plants other than nirnroot can grow by feeding off ambient magicka (Tamriel is stuffed full of it), so the plants are no problem.

I've done your signature about 7 times now. I assure you I've had fun.
This^
:gun: :shocking: [censored] THE SUUUUUUUUUUNNNNNNNNNN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And this.

I hope it's permanent. Maybe it's a certain radiation/light that hurts the vampires, the eclipse-looking-thing just blocks that out- leaving the rest of Nirn to grow and prosper.

i think that if you join the vampires then you should be able to block out the sun permanetly. and if you want the sun back then load anouther character.

and if the was a way that you could revers the sun being blocked out then you could rp the vamp that has a change of heart and unblocks the sun and when the sun comes back out just stand there until you burn up. some where along the lines of the end of 30 days of night where he becomes vampire to kill off the rest ( or was it just the leader? ) any way then he sits there with that chick untill the sun comes up and lets it burn him up.

idk i might do some thing like that when ever i get bored with that character. and just kill him off and start a nnew or go back to an old character

You obviously arent familiar with the Warp in the West?
I know about. Don't necessarily like the idea of the devs just using that idea again though. But with two Elder Scrolls involved who knows

The sun wont just be "shut off" , not even an elder scroll can do that. The sun has been here for billions of years and will be for billions more. It is trillions of nuclear bombs going off at once. Plus, if you do shut it off, it will be a lot worse than plants dying like everyone is saying would happen. The whole planet, NO, THE WHOLE SOLAR SYSTEM, will freeze over before the plants would get a chance to die.

No. I believe that it will be an eclipse that turns everything red during the daytime. Then, all the pretty flowers won't die and everyone won't die a suffocating and excruciating death from being turned to popsicles (Vampsicles)

If it is permanent remain to be seen.

I highly doubt that Bethesda will allow you to block out the sun permanently. It's too, well, permanent. Here's my theory.

Spoiler
I believe in a Dawnguard interview, it was said that there is a ritual involving the tasks of retrieving elder scrolls and killing Serana, the daughter of Harkon, in order to block out the sun. My guess is that if you go through with said tasks, you will be given a shout, or an elder scroll that allows you to shout or read (respectively) away the sun for a certain amount of time, but not permanently.

Anything to add?
That's a plausible theory. Very Interesting!

I hope that in TES6 it will be written that the vampires are destroyed in the end.

Yeah, I highly doubt that Beth would use a sunless nirn as their lore ending to the game. Undoubtedly the next elderscrolls game will have the sun in all it's shiny glory, just as the others have.

If PC users will be so lucky, Todd made a pretty scary comment when asked about the PC and PS3 version "I don't know" is what he said when an interviewer ask him when they come out.

yeah, since they sold out he's also become kind of obuse.

Obuse?
Also, they're a business. It's not called "selling out" when the entire aim is to sell the product, it's just called making a profit.

I'd say it's a safe bet you'll be able to loot a few even if you go vamp.

Okey.

1. They dont say if the sun will be blocked out for the whole world or if its a localized effect on skyrim (or just a part of skyrim), maybe the guy (Harkon or whatever) just want to create a vampire kingdom.
2. IRL methods of oxygen production is not equal to the elder scrolls worlds oxygen production methods, just look at oblivion (the realm) not a freaking green plant there but i can breath regardless. Blackreach underneath skyrim also has plenty of oxygen.
3. We dont know to what degree the sun will be blocked, if its just a "darker red tinted" day it might very well give the plants and stuff what they need and still give us a world where vampires can disregard dawns.

I would like to finish with a rumor i saw on the forums, [RUMOR (NOT ATT ALL CONFIRMED)]: You get to choose to block out the sun or not as a vampire lord (either taking Harkons side or the side of Harkons wife that wish to save there daughter).
