Dawnguard: Block Out the Sun

Post » Fri Jun 22, 2012 4:29 pm

These vampires live under frozen lakes. I doubt oxygen is needed. They can also feed on the blood of other vampires. No need for beast/mer/men anymore.

Where did you learn this?

The in game book Immortal Blood talks about the Volkihar vampires of Skyrim living under frozen lakes and reaching through the ice to grab victims. In game currently you can feed on sleeping vampires.

Not to be that guy, but are you suggesting that no choices in the game should actually have impact on the world?

No, that is not what I'm suggesting.

Oh you'll find out in 8 days, you just won't get to experience it for 38.

Good ole M$ shelling out the big money.
Poor ole Sony not giving a crap about its customers.

On topic, I definitely think it would be a power, I just hope it doesn't go all "you need to be the hero!" and you betray them at the last second. I'd definitely like to block the sun out.

I read through the thread after I posted that. Sorry.
But in the trailer, you can see that it's still semi-light when the sun is blocked out. Have you played Zelda Twilight Princess? It reminds me of that.

I agree and I have thought about that. It would be really annoying if they just decided to make you a good guy regardless of whose side you choose. I'm prepared to sacrifice Serana to end the tyranny of the sun and I expect to be able to do so.

I know about the reaching through ice and whatnot, I just didn't know that they could feed on other vampires.

No harm done. I have played Twilight Princess (which was awesome) and I see what you mean.

The sun is blocked for 12 hours in game anyway, It's called Night time.

Really hope this DLC has nothing to do with shouts or any Dragonborn material whatsoever. The entire main quest is dedicated to it, shouldn't have to ruin my pure vampire roleplay just because they wanna keep catering to the dragon-lovers.

Well there are new shouts, but I'm willing to bet the shouts aren't monumentally important.

Skyrim is a world in desperate need of consequences. If I had my way, I would have it blocked out forever.

I wouldn't be mad. I'm not a fan of the daytime in Skyrim, myself.

There adding legendary dragons to the base game,

I use a mod that disables the main quest completely, no worries there. So long as I can avoid most of the Dragonborn related stuff in Dawnguard I'll be a happy camper.

I really hope it's permanent. It would be lovely to be able to do something in the game that made a real, lasting difference to the world. Also I think it would take all the impact out of doing it if you could just switch it on and off again like a light bulb. As I understand it it's the climix to the whole questline so it's not like you could do it by accident.

It's too cold in Skyrim without the Sun. The bloodsvckers would have nothing to feed on in the long run. If you think ahead, Vamps should invest in sun shading devices instead of wasting their time trying to block out the Sun.
