I don't think people understand what they are asking for...

I hope it's permanent. And I do know what I am asking for, this game needs more consequences for the choices you make

Really hope it's some kind of toggle that can be turned off.

Also hoping my vampire can still be relatively neutral through the vampire story.

I would not be surprised to have the sun extinguished for a set amount of time but I do not think that is will be.permanent at all.

Either it will be temporary or at the last minute you have to stop the person or spell from blocking the sun. I highly doubt it will be permanent.

I have a feeling the hole to Artherius will be shut or maybe have a "screen" over it, that makes the sky red during the daytime. Then vampires wouldn't have disadvantages (or they'll just have less) in the sun.

I've always thought that Beth had to be careful with dlc and particularly player choice. In games like fallout, each game is set in the same world, but doesn't have too much lore bridging between the multiple games. Perhaps it's bias but I've been thinking that the elder scrolls doesn't have massive player choices because the devs have to continue a the overall lore in future games. "in 4e 201, the sun might or might not have been blacked out." seems kind of cheap to me

I really hope it's a permanent choice. Harkon says he wants to end the tyranny of the sun with an Elder Scroll.

Elder Scrolls are incredibly powerful.

If a player goes through this quest line thinking Harkon is just pulling everyones' legs, that's user error. He means, 'Hey, let's end the sun guys. For real. Undead power.'

And to arguments that if the sun is blocked out, it'll eventually end all life on Tamriel, I'm thinking the phrase 'ending the tyranny of the sun' is the vampires liberating themselves from their weakness. Now, I certainly don't want there to be a regular day/night cycle and have our weaknesses just not be there anymore. In the trailer, you can see darkness spreading from a castle witha big red glowing orb in the center. I think there'll be more of a filter where it's always dark, but the energy needed to sustain life is let through. These vampires aren't stupid enough to kill off their food.

Also, the significance of Markarth and Solitude being the two closest cities may have something to do with it. Maybe the cities will be... Epicenters of darkness? For lack of less silly terms. The cities being the sources of a type of darkness blanket that covers a portion of the world (perhaps just Skyrim) to makeup for any later games having to have bad explanations as to why the world isn't ruled by vampires yet.

Just muh two septims...

I want the sun to be blocked for good, your action should have effects as than Skyrim can be feel my wraith as the ungraceful people they are. I mean I save the world than I get no thanks, I am a war hero than they don't thank you and I am becoming a hero to the vampires as hopefully they will thank me for my help.

So I want the sun blocked for good.

There's no way it's going to be permanent! In the hype up to the Mehrunes' Razor DLC, the description released of the Mehrunes' Razor was that it was supposed to kill anyone in one hit. Bethesda conveniently forgot to include in the statement that the chance of it happening was like 5% or something each time. The ability to block out the sun! . . . will be for like 6 game hours or something, once you go to a specific location and perform a certain ritual, which will probably become superfluous and not really that practical to use as an ability (but nice to look at (The Orrery)).

While I hope the ability for vampires to block out the sun permanently is in, I think it's unlikely . . . too much to expect of Bethesda, anyway!

But then again, ultimately it doesn't matter since if it's on PC Modders will make the game that they want.

It actually sounds more likely than it being a shout. It would be weird if it required thu'um to end the tyranny of the sun.

Considering what Thu'ums are capable of doing, I wouldn't be surprised.

Hell, it would probably make sense in way - the Elder Scroll reveals that by combining a certain phrase with the power of the Voice you can create a new Thu'um that blocks out the sun, or something like that.

There are already Shouts that control the other elements; why not day an night. And its not like new Shouts can't be made - one was created by men to slay Dragons after all.

If PC users will be so lucky, Todd made a pretty scary comment when asked about the PC and PS3 version "I don't know" is what he said when an interviewer ask him when they come out.

This isn't really a scary comment at all, Todd said he doesn't know because he doesn't, decisions like release dates, prices, etc. etc. are made by publishing people, not development.

it wouldnt suprise me if they made it a shout in the first place since it is skyrim and you are the dragonborn.

This is like asking if i want a permenent Blood Moon in the sky after questing for it as a werewolf. Hell YES! Come one folks. You're present with the option to become not just a blood svcking but a SOUL EATING MONSTER who's quest is to end they tyrany of the sun. End The Tyrany! You don't just spank a tyrant and tell him see you in tomarrow. You draw and quarter him and use his skull for a drinking bowl!
Don't wanna block out the sun? Join the Dawnguard and save the world!

Really, how hard is this to grasp?

If Im a vamp, why would I want to block out the sun? All the crops/livestock would die, then all my food(people) would die, then I wouldnt have any more blood, and life would svck.

Considering how the moons vanished for a few years, I see no reason why the sun can't be blocked out for a while. Not all the way, as life would sort of die without it, but enough to where it no longer hinders vampires. The problem is how they are going to explain all of these multiple choices in future games' lore. Are they going to go with another Dragon Break? And lo, the sun was simultaneously blocked and unblocked at the same time.
