Dawnguard: Block Out the Sun

If we could toggle it like Vampiric Night Vision... just with a cooldown between toggles to stop people spammin' the game out.

If he was a beta tester he broke his NDA (and thus the reason I can't say anything further on the topic)
Is it considered breaking the NDA if you say something that is not content of dawnguard, but pass if off as if it is?

Right, but we were discussing the other 12.
Then that would be the sun being blocked for 24 hours, which is completely different.

I really hope it is permanent! I want to be the almighty lord of darkness! It's an elder scroll, it has the ultimate power to change things permanently!

I think there are two elder scrolls in the dlc, and we can't be sure exactly what it/they do/does until it comes out.

Night time, the sun is absent. Day time, the sun is blocked by whatever in the game (an elder scroll i'm assuming) blocks it.

In all honesty, so long as there is plenty of notice that it will be permanent, then tough. If they didn't want it done permanently, they should have kept a backup save or not been so dumb. 0.o

EDIT: Howsabout it is permanent, but there is a quest to reverse it if the player so wishes to RP a change of heart and morals?
That would defeat the purpose of doing the quest in the first place. I feel as though it should be like an eclipse that is permanent. Don't want it being permanent then don't finish the quest.

According to kotaku, if I'm not mistaken, at least one of them, alongside Serana's sacrifice and Auriel's Bow, will end the tyranny of the sun

In the trailer when the sun is blotted out, everything turns red. I believe for the 12 hours of daytime, EVERYTHING will be in a shower of red light, so it is not completely dark.

It won't be permanent, as that would cause problems with the game itself.

I'm pretty sure it will be a power to maybe instantly turn day into night or just cause an eclipse and still be able to turn into a vampire lord, like seen in the demo.

I hope Bethesda proves everyone wrong and it is a permanent effect.

I think if you ''block out the sun'' the sun won't effect you, they put a spell over it and its radiation doesn't touch the vampires. Or you really do block it out, but it doesn't show it they just say it's blocked out. I highly doubt that Bethesda would totally ''block out the sun'' but hey it's a possibility.

This thread got me thinking, and I have a theory: I bet the effect will be toggled on and off at will via the elder scroll...

I don't understand why people are so sure it won't be permanent. Whiterun still has wreckage around the tree, Helgen is still in ruins, and if we want to go further back, just think of Kvatch.

If we're going off to other games that Bethesda has produced, just remember Megaton in fallout 3. You could permanently blow it up and pollute the entire surrounding area with radiation and an eerie green mist.

^This. Im pretty sure it will be permanent, if you kill a named NPC they don't respawn so if you block out the sun why shouldn't it be permanent?

If PC users will be so lucky, Todd made a pretty scary comment when asked about the PC and PS3 version "I don't know" is what he said when an interviewer ask him when they come out.

30 days until they begin development on the DLC for PC & PS3. Right now only the Xbox version is in beta. After 30 days they'll look at the numbers and see if it's worth it money wise to make versions for other platforms or not. Very earliest PS3 & PC could expect Dawnguard is around Christmas time.

It would be pretty sweet to have an Solar Eclipse power. I really think it would. We can summon storms and make the weather good, why not this? Full weather control! Woop woop

If the versions were ready then Todd would have said "30 days after the release of Dawnguard on XBox." He avoided the question which leads to the above theory that it's not being developed until the 30 days are up from Xbox.

The only problem I see with the sun going away PERMINANTLY, is the extinction of every species on Nirn. No plants=no oxygen.

These vampires live under frozen lakes. I doubt oxygen is needed. They can also feed on the blood of other vampires. No need for beast/mer/men anymore.

I highly doubt that Bethesda will allow you to block out the sun permanently. It's too, well, permanent. Here's my theory.
Not to be that guy, but are you suggesting that no choices in the game should actually have impact on the world?
