Dawnguard should cost 4 bucks

Post » Fri Jun 22, 2012 12:52 pm

MetaGod what you want will never happen, what you ask isn't realistic. Go bother the companies making you spend five dollars for alternate costumes and weapon skins.

The only question that matters; at the price they're asking, is the DLC worth buying to you?

Dawnguard is worth a lot more than 4 dollars.

Skyrim cost 60 dollars. But how much is it worth? It gave me about 200 hours of play time so I would probably pay like 75. Plus in the grand scheme of dlc. 20 for a whole questlne plus a lot more powers and such isn't bad.

I think it should be around $15 honestly. If it's bigger than Fallout's DLCs but smaller than Shivering Isles, as they say, I think that's a fair price. can't really say if it's worth it until we play it though.

Exactly.

I'm going to hold off until I see some feedback on the forum.

From what's been revealed so far, there isn't much that's of interest to me.

But, as I'm sure not everything has been revealed, I'll just wait and see what additional goodies might be there that other people will be sure to discuss on the forum.

Hey it could be worse, at least this DLC lasts longer then 10 hours unlock a loooooooooooooot of DLC nowadays, just look at Mass effect dlcs that only last 2-4 hours and are mostly dialogue.

I kinda doubt it, there may be a few side quests, but overall, most of the content will be the two guilds
you have absolutely NO proof that there is that little. the 20hr estimate is just the MQ, and remember you need two playthroughs (maybe more) to do everything in Dawnguard

This is a pointless discussion. Length has nothing to do with it. Someone who plays skyrim ALOT will beat it quicker then someone who just plays it a couple hours a week. That's why price isn't based on length.

I'll get it, the only question is when. One advantage (trying to look on the bright side, here) of not playing on the xBox is that by the time it's out for the PC and the PS3 users of those platforms will have a much better idea whether they want it or not. If it's generally well received, I'll probably get it immediately. If it gets a cooler reception, I'll grab it on sale at a later date.

It's more Skyrim! How is that not enough to interest you?

Well this has nothing to do with Skyrim and I seriously don't know why I'm typing this(so forgive me) but a lot of Mass Effect players, including myself, prefer the dialog over the gameplay.

I do believe its overpriced, it all goes down to what you think it will be worth. To me, a faction questline definitely isn't worth $20, or a third of the games price at launch. I recently went shopping at gamestop, to preorder dawnguard, and then decided to get red dead redemption instead, it seems my $20 was much better spent that way.

I actually think $20 is very reasonable for what I understand to be a 20 hour "main quest" (played in an efficient manner), since as far as I know there has been no mention of how many more hours the other minor side quests and areas to explore this expansion adds (which could very well be upwards of 50 hours). Especially since I was able to complete the Skyrim main quest in under 20 hours, as well as every single major side quest and faction quest in under a total of 90 hours (that includes me getting mildly side tracked).

So for me it's more like $60/90hrs = $0.67 per hour, which would put Dawnguard at more like $13.50 (but that's only counting it's 20 hour "main quest"). Of course I could play for 300+ hours (in the main game) doing those repetitive dynamic quests or just exploring the world, but I could never see myself taking that long just to complete the core quests.

thats not going to happen for two reasons 1. length of game has never changed the price of a big budget game and 2 they would probably be loosing money if they did this and at the core of it developers make games to make money.

Why should games be so cheap in the first place? Compare any good game's price to the price of going to the movies, paintball, laser tag, drinking, or even renting a canoe for the day and then complain with a straight face that gaming costs too much! Gaming is cheaper than everything that isn't TV, and half the time it's cheaper than TV too.

$20 was what Portal cost new. It's far shorter than 20 hours, even if you svck at it. It was well worth the money. Yes, RPGs are typically longer than shooters, but even with that kind of thinking Dawnguard is well worth the money if it's good.

You shouldn't be complaining, Shivering Isles for Oblivion was $30 if I'm not mistaken and that probably had about 10-20 hours of content as well.

Out of principle I support $4 DLC, after all save where you can, and always try to get the best deal.

But you're still silly OP.

@ the OP => You're reaction is evreything but logical...
I paid for the Darkness 2 60 Euros wich is more than you're "dollar" and finished the game in 10 houres
I paid 65 euros for COD MW 3 and finished the ùmain game als in 10 -15 hours.
I paid 60 euros for splintercell conviction and finished it in the same amount of time....
I can go on whole day with games that cost the same amount of skyrim with less hours of gameplay.
What bethesda is offering you in terms of hours of gameplay for 60 or 20 "bucks" is rarely the case with other devloppers....

There are much more factors when it come to priceing like quality.
I would much rather pay £20 for a 30hr solid, fun and replayable DLC instead of £10 for 60hr, boring, dull and glitchy mess that add nothing to the game.

If DLC price was based only on hours playable then the OP is right, however other things come into this. Such as replayability and if they give you extra content, would that in rich your core experience. However I personally think that the current price tag is way over priced and do not intent to get this DLC. I would want it to be £10-£12.

+ it is about Vampires and I just do not play as them ever.
