Dawnguard should cost 4 bucks

Post » Fri Jun 22, 2012 10:02 am

Even if the DLC had ONLY 10 hours, like the entire thing, you're still getting you're money's worth

Think about it, even if you made minimum wage ($8 an hour), it would take you only 2.5 hours to make the money to buy it. So in terms of how many hours in the game, you would be getting 4x the amount of content than you actually paid for.

But you have other expenses

Glad to know I'm not alone in that xD I wonder how many of us are going to post spoilers etc on the 26th?
PS3 and PC players are probably gonna just disappear for like 2 months to avoid spoilers, some other people have already said they are leaving for a month or so to avoid spoilers.

No, because you could get thousands of hours for $60, so can't put a price on it. Same with Damwguard it's not about the hours, it's about the content.

Lots of people. I mean, I avoid Game of Thrones videos on youtube, because people only seem to be able to post spoiler after spoiler until it is hard to avoid

Yeah, when it comes out, everybody keep the spoilers to the spoiler forum, please. That's the one thing I'm hardnosed about.

Besides, SUPPORT YOUR DEVELOPER!!!!! It's not easy being in the game industry!
After this post I stopped reading / or caring for that matter. The DLC could be free and I still wouldn't take it.

If they produced what they said they did. A working PS3 game I might. As what I bought wasn't and it's constant glitchyness damaged my system I don't think so.

It's funny that every other devloper can make games that work on a PS3 but Beth will not. They will claim they spent lots of hours on it and it has a new game engine but all it is, is another coat of paint on an old outdated piece of [censored].

I will never argued that things should be cheaper in this world, we as consumers are overcharged by everything on pretty much every product.

But games will never be sold on the amount of gameplay they offer per hour or second or any set gameplay time.

Personally I don't believe in dlc or expanions, they should already be in the game. However, dlcs and expanions make companies money so it wont go away.

Think about it. Skyrim was estimated by Todd Howard to be 300 hours, and cost 60 bucks. That is five hours per buck. He then estimated Dawnguard to be 20 hours, but it cost 20 bucks. So, to be fair to the regular game, Dawnguard should reduce its cost down to 4 bucks.

No

A bit off topic but I do find it funny that the DLC for Fallout 3 is still 800 MS points(10 dollars) each on xboxlive, yet you can buy the GOTY disc for 20 dollars.

And cars shouldn't cost 40,000 dollars, gas shouldn't be 4.00 a gallon, and I shouldn't be have to pay 40$ for internet itself and be forced to bundle to get it cheaper, and then pay 100$ for [censored] I don't need or intend to use. Marking up makes the world go round, and it's how companies make their money; get over it, and worry about real world problems other than the fact you're paying 20$ for DLC that is larger than most games; in any genre, in general. This is the state of the gaming industry, it's not as cheap as it used to be to develop a a game and they need to change with the times. The video game industry is following a trend that isn't exclusive to their work. Complaining about this ISN'T logical; as it is the way the world works.

I don't understand a debate about what anything "should" cost anyway. The price is what the seller asks, and you either agree to the transaction or don't. I have no idea where a "should cost" price comes from at all.

This, applying a logic that isn't included to begin with isn't logic at all. Logic is based on facts and validity. FACT: Skyrim was 60 dollars, and that had nothing to do with the length of the game. By that logic, the valid conclusion is that the DLC isn't going to be priced based on it's length, but the industry standard itself. You can apply logic to almost anything, and argue with the general consensus. Just because it's YOUR logic, doesn't mean it's right for the situation. By that measure, a game like Dark Sector, which took me about 12 hours to complete, should have cost me about two dollars and some change. Assassin's Creed II took me around 20 hours, so that should be four dollars too? This just butthurtness at it's finest.

Most expansions are ~$20 and it's not about the actual hours of the dlc its the MAN HOURS put into crafting the content. Once it comes out you will be glad to pay $20 for it. It's well worth it trust me.

Yeah they were DG is a lot bigger than any Fallout DLC cant say how much bigger but there's a lot more content and you guys will be pleased with most of it.

Why don't you wait until Xmas or Thanksgiving. Steam usually has discounts around those American or international holidays. Besides, $20 dollars for a game that has technically at least 30 hours of content (side quests, exploration, and all that)) + crossbows + new mount + new shout + new form AND two new perk trees + ability to change your character's appearance + side quests + two new locations all are worth your $20 bucks.

Just to put this into perspective. Call of Duty MW3 has less than 20 hours of single player, a multiplayer feature that I will never play for as long as I live, and terrible terrible story, costs $60 dollars. Even good games that have 20 hours of content are at least $40 dollars.

You're literally getting just as much content as a standalone game for 1/3 its cost.

I don't consider new weapons and armour, that kind of thing to be new content. It should be available in dlc, but don't mistake it as a substitute for questing or new areas.

Also, I ahve made this argument before, and dont feel like repeating it... but, the conclusion is that you can't judge FPS content per hour the same way you can judge an RPG. 20 hour RPG as a standalone game? That's unheard of, unless it really excels at something, like Mass effect's story

Lets see. I spent $60 on Skyrim and have played >1200hrs. I don't think I'll complain about another $20 for sizable new content and gameplay features.
