There's been an unusually large amount of whining lately it seems.
Glad I've been laying Dragons Dogma instead of haunting this place.

With EA making 'DLC' for BF3 that cost $10 a piece that contain about 15 cents worth of content, I'm totally fine with paying $20 for like 40-50 hours of gameplay. One campaign is 10-20 hours (We'll round to 15) so playing both sides is 30 hours, then there's new dungeons and other quests. So I'm totally fine.

But .. how do you know your getting everything .. perfect? *you haven't played it* For all we know the dam game might be a whole mess full of bugs and glitches. And here you are paying 20 dollars. How nice.

Your right I haven't played it but still I would still pay $20 for something that is shorter and better made than something which is cheaper and longer but boring, poorly made and adds nothing to the game at all.

Well, even if they would be overcharging the DLC a bit wouldn't that be alright since they create so much more content for the original game than the avrage $ 60 game

Skyrim took 5 years to make, dawnguard took 6 months.
Skyrim took three years to make.

You're lucky the dlc doesn't cost $60, most games give 10-20 hours. Think about it.

Games are never as long as devs predict. I don't think dawnguard will give most people 20 hours. I think $20 is an ok price if it does, but I will be surprised.

4 bucks? I am not sure you could get a decent set of horse armor for that price.

I see what you did there! ;)

Personally, I think the price is perfectly reasonable, but then I had no problem with the cost of the game originally, either.

Giving gameplay time estimates based on content is just something the developers do to please the stupid ignorant masses anyways. Pay no heed to the numbers, let the game speak for itself. You can get as much or as little as you let yourself have.

Coke should also cost 35 cents, but it's a dollar because of mark up. I think you'll live. Besides, SUPPORT YOUR DEVELOPER!!!!! It's not easy being in the game industry!
That's a big mark-down, where I'm from it's $500 a gram.

Bethesda isn't going bankrupt, they made enough profit on Morrowind to fund Oblivion and upgrade their staff, abd now they are effectivley immortal economically.

EDIT EDIT: Refreshed, there it is. Forum glitch...? *readies flamethrower*

Don't know if it's properly priced, but $20 (and i assume 20€) does create pretty high expectations.

Yup, i'm pretty sure many countries and corporations thought like that not too long ago... :teehee:

I don't think Microsoft and Sony would be happy about that. Bethesda probably had to pay a hefty sum of money just to get mounted combat into a patch.

They still need to make money. That's like buying a new Ferrari and expecting a new paint job every couple months for free.

Well I guess you are right.

I mean seriously 4 bucks sounds perfectly reasonable amount of money. Many of the gameplay feature we have seen were already made in gamejam or available as a mod.

$15-$20 sounds about right to me.

$10 or less would be extremely generous. Over $20 would be greedy.
The Shivering Isles costed $30 and somwbody else in the thread said Bloodmoon and Tribunal costed about $30 each.

Think about it. Skyrim was estimated by Todd Howard to be 300 hours, and cost 60 bucks. That is five hours per buck. He then estimated Dawnguard to be 20 hours, but it cost 20 bucks. So, to be fair to the regular game, Dawnguard should reduce its cost down to 4 bucks.

The 300 hours was if you do EVERYTHING. If you do that in Dawnguard, it will be more than 20 hours. Some of the beta testers have hinted at 40 hours if you do EVERYTHING. So your comparison is off mathematically.

Well to be honest. This really dosen't add nothing to the game. The DLC is all about Vampires, and not all of Elder Scrolls fans are intrested in Vampires just so you know. *some hate them like a [censored]* .. then again i ask the question. How the hell do you even know it will be made better?

Shivering Isles is 30$ for Oblivion. I got out of that expansion, couple of 100 hours of gameplay out of it. New weapons, creatures, land and armor. All worth 30$ and that was worth it like a [censored] it is.

What does Dawnguard have? Vampires? Crossbows? 20 Hours of gameplay? and you think it's worth 20$? Well i'll be damned. You got some problems.
