Dead Money fact sheet

Why else would I, or anybody be playing a single player RPG? Self satisfaction. Maybe I'm just too use to playing pen and paper games with my friends.

Again, that's not the point. The point is that Bill Cutter isn't going to be recognized by the game. Wouldn't it be better if he were recognized by the game? What if the game gave you extra perks, or certain NPCs reacted differently to him because of your self-imposed rules?

Unfortunately, such a system doesn't exist in New Vegas, making self-imposed rules meaningless in terms of the game world and how it reacts to your character.

Guys, stay on subject, reasons for not increasing levels any further.
The "harder creatures" ("NO IT WONT BE UNBALANCED THEY WILL ADD harder creatures) means the return of bullet sponges, you know those things that couldn't be killed by a trash-compacter due to unrealistic health levels.

But we already at maxed out our combat skills.

It is just like Broken Steel, which your 100 combat skill become meaningless and only super duper uber weapon to make combat feels "right".

Well, despite that and while it being true, the initial point still remains.... That while allowing it, game should not force people to roleplay outside of the game to find the challenge or experience the game sets out to offer.

The game doesn't force me to. I force me to. I have 7 role-plays over 400 hours in and have done everything in the game, twice even. If I wanna challenge myself, or role-play a character from popular media I will and I'll have more fun doing it than making TEH SNIPERZ BUILD or some overpowered build.

If the game lets you be a god, then EVERYONE would be forced to do so. You cannot throw away skill points you know.

True, and there's also no option to not level up. Well, that is, unless you stop doing quests or engaging in combat.

yes you can you just put them in survival or repair :)

If people don't like it then they'll mod a new level cap when the DLC comes out for PC.

Are you not understanding on purpose here or am I being thoroughly unclear?

You are free to roleplay the way you want, if you want to RP a pacman character or a tetris block or John Rambo, so be it, the game should allow you to. But the game, by it's premise and set rules, should not require the player to do so in order to find challenge.

You cannot choose not to level up.

You cannot choose not to allocate skill points when you are forced to level up.

You cannot choose not to take a perk when you are forced to level up.

What gives you the right to force your bull [censored] down my throat? What gives you the right to force me to play a god character?

The game isn't supposed to make you a god, it's not the Fallout way, the game is centralised on a specialized character, having mastery in one or two things, but having weaknesses to hold him onto the ground and offer something resembling a challenge or obstacle.

While I love mods, modders shouldn't be expected to take over and fix the mistakes made by developers.

What's the point of this level cap increase? Is 30 levels somehow not enough?

Sheesh, so much for the whole "balance" thing Obsidian had going. (admittedly a little too balanced, case in point energy weapons, but balanced nonetheless.)

I'm imperfect enough in real life. I don't mind being awesome in a video game. Isn't that what they're for? How does stumbling across a locked safe you can't open because your lockpick skill is too low add any depth to the game or the character you made? Taking into consideration things that are that trivial does not make your character interesting. Unless you're playing as some dude who is renowned for being bad at opening things.

Shouldn't be, I agree. But having observed everything with the Bethesda name on it since Morrowind, I'm beginning to think "modders...fix[ing] the mistakes made by developers" is part of someone's business model now.

Its not requiring me though. I don't understand your point. I'm not even role-playing the butcher because I want a challenge, I'm role-playing it because I want to role play the butcher. Were you see a game that your suppose to play a certain way, I see a medium in which to play a single player pen and paper game anyway I want, but on the console. It has nothing to do with challenge, or premises, or rules, or anything else. Its because i want to role play the Butcher.

Okay Obsidian, if you're dead-set on raising the cap to 35, can you at least not include "Almost Perfect" as a perk? That and "Puppies!" were probably the dumbest single ideas that Bethesda ever conceived of.
