By that line of reasoning you better kill everyone in tamriel and then yourself.

By your line of reasoning, I am only defending myself from dragons by killing Paarthurnax.

Thats a funny way of thinking. Defending yourself by striking someone who hasn't attempted any hostility towards you.

If I can kill someone because they might turn evil, then yes I have a reason to kill everyone.

i gave Paar big points for being a cool ass dragon with a cool voice, and saw that hey this dragon has changed, hes not trying to be a dominating dragon and been here in isolation for godknows how many thousands of years. So on my first toon i said screw you to delphie and was really pissed off at her and the blades for wanting me to kill the one dragon that has helped me, then i beat the game. I was having some doubts creeping up by soem of the things that ol paar had said but it really hit home when right after i had defeated Alduin, ol meditating trying to suppress his primal urges goes off and is gonna try to dominate the dragons with the righteousness fo his thuum. Now i remember that the rules for the way of the voice do not apply or is even thought to apply to dragons or dragonborn, so what does the teaching leave us? Its meditating on dragonwords, which to dragons makes the word thus themselves even stronger, plus hes no longer on the mountain top because the only reason why he was up there was to be at that spot when mortals come to learn how to defeat Alduin. Here i was pissed off at the blades for trying to use me, when afterwards ol Paar was doign the same to me. In the MQ i learnt that the dragons didnt rise up against Alduin wasnt because of the mortals plight but it was that Alduin was trying to rule instead of doing what he was created to do, and that was to destroy the world. Now that Alduin is dead, Paar isnt just kicking back and taking it easy now that the mortal's danger is over, no hes off trying to take Alduin's place. And seeing how the dragons themselves could not even stand up to Alduin because they couldnt even harm them, Paar stays at the mountain top because he knows that a mortal with an elder scroll will be able to go back and learn the weapon, to take out his advasary. It dawned on me why Alduin was cool with me and helping me out, i was the only one who could take down Alduin so why wouldnt he try to giev me all the info and be civil with me and such, we have the same goal but for different reasons. At the end i saw no examples on how paar was a changed dragon, he off dominating the other dragons now that hes foe is gone and has no reason to stay at the mountain top, so basically his days of suppressing his desire to dominate is gone.

paar to me was played out as a charector who shares the same goals with me but for different reasons, and because of those different reasons we will be destined to clash in the future. It worried me that paar is off building an army, whats the dragon army for? Is it so that i gangrushed by tons of dragons if we clash or is he taking this time since im mortal and hes immortal to build and plan? or hell just build, but gathering a bunch of dragons under one order plus having mortals atkign them if found...well the dragons will retailiate........eh there so much that could go wrong from letting him live, its more along the lines that im performing a preemptive action to get rid of the chance of something liek that happeninng. hell with no dragons around when Alduin comes back, theres no one for him to rule over and even if theresa dragonborn theres no dragonsouls so Alduin will basically be able to do his job without any distractions on his or the mortals end.

now correct me if I'm wrong about this, but I thought there was some dialogue from Delphine or someone else who says that Talos and the other Dragonborn Emperors chose to allow Paarthurnax to carry on living and never moved against him? if that is right then I'll be damned if I'm going to second guess Talos and the other Dragnborn Emperors.

When she orders you to kill him I take that as a sign that her zeal for clinging to the old ways and returning the blades to their "tradition" has overcome her judgement. The blades of the past who served Talos didn't second guess his judgement like this and refuse to serve him when he let Paarthurnax live. So for them to do so to the Dragborn today really shows they are trying to manipulate you into being their tool and care nothing for your status as Dragonborn.

Blades be damned, they serve the Dragonborn not the other way around and if Dragonborn says that Paarthurnax is not to be touched they better well back off!

As for Paarthurnax himself, I really don't think he would double-cross you when he KNOWS you can do something he could never do and take down Alduin who was by all accounts the most powerful Dov that ever lived. yes he has the Dragonblood and the "will to dominate" but so does the Dovahkiin and proving the strength of his Thu'um by taking Alduin out is a message that dragons understand very well as Odahviing admits.

Dragons respect power, and a vengeful Dragonborn leading another genocide of the Dov is certainly the last thing he would want.

I see it more along the lines of the blades wanting a show of commitment seeing how thier previous masters were all gunho against the thalmor now thier pillowfriends hunting down the blades. Now that dragons are back and have something tangible to fight against, having paar lept alive would look like to the blades the whole situation with the empire and thalmor all over again. And can ya blame her because I have seen hundreds of posts of how they shout her off the mountain.
They dont want their reason for surving turn against them like their last master does, so they want you to kill paar to show them that you will nt betray them and side with enemy again, so they put u on point to avoid another situation like last time.

Also the dragonborn aint a king to the blades more like a leader. They serve ya by giving ya Intel, training up ur recruits, letting you know where dragons are, and go with ya to fight dragons. So far theyve been very helpful, its just the whole paar thing..well theres afew things that stayed the hand of past emporers. One to get to paar theyve woulda had to go thru the greybeards one of the most powerful grp in skyrim as well as respected. The greybeards either woulda all died like pacifists which woulda caused an uproar or they woulda been shouted apart, no real winner there until the dragonborn comes and he can go right past that without disturbing or harming the greybeards. also like I said, even delphie says it best so short and sweet..either ur with us or against us. They want paar dead as a sign of commitment to the grp and cause. Why would they follow a leader that will side with the very enemy they fight against...u know just like the thalmor and empire.

Her and Esbern's logic regarding Paarthurnax is really shallow. It irritates me to no end.
I tend to have that complaint about most of the quests in Oblivion and now Skyrim. It seems the quests aren't fully fleshed out. I wish they were deeper in story and content. Indeed, they seem to be stories wrapped around quests, instead of the other way around.

Not me. Often enough I've had a dragon fly in circles over my head, and even if I did my best to catch his attention (I even tried to shoot at him and summoned an atronach and all that), but he just continued flying and eventually took off.

Granted, this seems to happen more often in the earlier stages of the MQ than later.

I love how people's first reaction to not liking someone in skyrim is to try to kill them.

I also love the fact that the two strongest women in the game that have somewhat a position of authority over the dragonborn (Maven and Delphine) are probably the two most hated characters. Seems a lot of people have mommy issues.

I hate her. She's a stupid moron who deserves to die. I would kill her on sight if I could.

She's illogical, and deluded.
The blades are not some heroic group, and no one needs them or wants them.
They were kicked out of royal service, for a good reason I think.

Yes, kill Paathanux, the dragon who saved the world.
Tiber Septim did'nt kill him, the original blades did'nt kill him.
So Tiber Septim himself worked with him, the originals knew not to kill him, many people have been allies over the years.
But a pompous b**ch and a paranoid mage think they should kill him. Because his name was on some aincient list in a temple locked for 1000s of years. Possibley written before the defeat and banishment of Alduin. After he helped save the world.
They think they know better than Tiber Septim, the originals, and many leaders. Yeah, right.

They say it's because they want to avenge some long dead ancesters who they never even met, but it's more likely to be a desperate attempt to make a name for themselves and get some fame.
They won't let you, the dovahkin and the person who saved the world, join their band of 2 deluded people, unless you kill someone who saved the world with you.

She goes from bossy and obnoxious to petulant and childish when you won't kill him.
She is a hideous person, if that was a npc you could kill, she'd be dead the moment she opened her mouth.

You need to provide actual fables that apply to the situation. None of yours have had the "bad guy" saving the "good guy(s)" multiple times and keeping guard of them for thousands of years.(Or was that fable supposed to paint Alduin as the wolf, and Paarth as one of the dogs?)

Paarthurnax is the wolf. Skyrim are the sheep.

Boy Scouts don't set fire to people's houses then get merit badges for rescuing the inhabitants, even if they meditate on their actions in between.

Besides, I grow weary of trying to find non real world examples of people doing malicious things, saying their "sorry" and not getting off Scot free. Since real actual examples are verboten; playing the meme game is tiresome.

This was just a fun diversion, but now it is no longer entertaining.

im taking it most people who think delphie is a stupid [censored] that needs to shouted off a mountain has either of two things...hate being told what to do by a grp who they THINK is supposed to obey ur every whim or have not even looked up or investigated the whole situation, which is good bit of bethesda fault on their voice dialogue but give quite a bit of info in books and from the timeline between now and oblivion, theres actually alot of info that can make u understand her whole incistance to kill paar.

I was also one who played the game and thought delphie was a shallow [censored] and couldnt understand why delphie and esbern wouldnt help me if I didnt kill paar. The old emporers didnt so why should I? Then I started researching and boy my attitude has changed.

1. The reason why the old emporers never gave the ok to kill paar was that the blades woulda had to go thru the greybeards to get to him. Now we all see what happens when the empire tried to talos away, why would the empire upset the nords by killing the greybeards who the people of skyrim greatly respect and creat a fiasco or even have blades get shouted to death and also creat a fiasco. BUT our dragonborn can bypass the greybeards and go straight to the dragon and the general poublic are not gonna get pissed off by killing a dragon only.
2. The oath the blades had to serve unquestionably was to the emporer, our dragonborn is not an emporer. He is part of the grp, more like a star player. Let say in sports, u have a new guy that is exceptionally talented, do u automatically make him the leader and do everything he says without question? No u incorporate him in the plans, accept his suggestions and play that fully maximizes his role. The dragonborns role is to absorb dragonsouls and the blades are doing what they can to maximize his chancea. They serve and protect the dragonborn their star player by gicing u intel, training up recruits to help out killing dragons, and giving locations to kfind dragons.
3. The blades got abandoned by the empire which they served and throw to the wolves to the very enemy of the empire. They are now both pillow friends hunting the blades. So yes theres trust issues and they are adamant that u slay paar as a sign of commitment yo their grp and cause. Paar is a dragon hence an enemy, and they are seeing the chances of what happened between the empire and thalmor happen between the dragonborn and the dragons.

So weither we agree that paar needs to die, the situation isnt shallow or delphie being [censored]y. Its more along the lines of showing commitment to the grp, and if not well the dragonborn is alrdy on his way to kill alduin so the threat would be defeated or not and the blades will go fighting dragons without the dragonborns help. They are making a stand to avoid what had happen in the past.

Yes the emporers themselves woulda had to fight paar by themselves to avoid a fiasco. Tiber septim could had done it problemly but he was to busy taking over the world, other emporers also either not strong enough fighters or had to much going on. Also it worth noting that his line was dragonblood not dragonborn seeing how dragonborns are creat for mortals time of need or something important but do not pass on by blood, septims line was an exception because of the pact they had with akatosh hence the dragon amulant. No more septims, no more dragon amulant, no more dragonbloods.

There was actaully debates in game what exactly dragonblood implys, if or what exactly dragonblood implied. But what oblivion implied was that dragonbloods were not the same as dragonborns, dragonborns were to absorb the souls of dragons, dragonblood was an agreement with akatosh on the job of keeping the flame lite to prevent an invasion from daedras. two different things.

Edit lol tiber was a dragonborn was implying his lineage was dragonblood.

You still haven't provided examples of this burning people's houses.

You're killing him because of what you think of dragons. You don't care if he really did it or not, hence the wolf and the lamb Aesop. I don't trust plenty of people, but I'm not willing to kill them over it unless they are actually committing offenses. I don't trust anyone in tamriel, they all have their motives, every single one of them may have been a murderer but there's as much proof about it as there is on Paarth.

Paarth was a lieutenant, he was in charge of part of the death and rebirth of the world. Alduin had other plans, and for this Paarth rebelled. I have no delusions that he won't attempt to end the world, but it will be when the world actually needs to end. Killing Paarth won't stop it, it'll just shift the task back to Akatosh. The kalpa left to run on forever risks waking the dreamer. Akatosh will NOT sit by idly if you try to stop the actual end of the world.(Ald was attempting to rule the world instead of destroy it)

Actually, I don't think he's going to try and end the world, unless specifically tasked to do so by Akatosh. I doubt he'll be the defacto World Eater because Alduin's gone. I think Alduin's designation as World Eater is inherent to him alone, which is why he's different from the rest of the dragons (no soul absorption, immortal on Nirn, etc).

Thats more or less what I was trying to say. Ald was acting on his own agency. Paarth would've waited for Akatosh's go ahead. Still he's in a decent position to usurp the mantle of World Eater.

This is not just the idea of the weird players. Let me quote The Rise and Fall of the Blades:

"There are those that say the Blades still exist around us, in hiding from the Thalmor. Waiting as they have done time and time again, for a Dragonborn to return. For one to protect, for one to guide them."

You need to notice that this quote states that supposedly it's the dragonborn who guides the blades. Not the other way around.

So, if the dragonborn tells them "we let that lizard live up on his mountain", then the blades shouldn't turn into petulant children or kick the dragonborn (their supposed leader) out of their organization. Which they do, instead.

Hence the irritation of a lot of players with Mrs Delphine.

This is my feeling, but more than that Delphine seems to really spit in the face of the Dovahkiin after all he does to help them rebuild their order.

After running god knows how many errands for her, making an enemy of the Thalmor on their say so, rescuing Esbern from Thalmor strike teams bent on capturing/killing him, unlocking the Sky haven Temple blood seal, and even providing them with 3 new recruits to rebuild their order... After all this help he gave the Blades she suddenly has a complete change of heart and decides to exile the Dragonborn if he doesn't do HER bidding and abuse the Greybeards hospitality in the most dishonourable way to slay a lone Dragon that hasn't been a threat to anyone for Millennia!

The Greybeards warn you that they want to use the Dragonborn for their own ends, and it seems they are right.
