DLC suggestions #2

Post » Sun Mar 06, 2011 3:58 pm

And how would we traverse over and entire continent and the Atlantic sea?

You took a far greater interest in flaming everyone's ideas then you did actually reading the ideas themselves.

If you had read them, and paid attention long enough to retain more than a few words per post, then you'd have seen that the idea was using the repaired bomber as a launch platform.

One word: Vertibird.

They're not just owned by the Enclave, you know. And since every vehicle in the FO world is powered by fictional nuclear reactors, I am sure they could fiction up some type of cheap fuel source.

If you explore the bombers camp you will see they got a still set up and they are creating alcohol fuel in preperation of getting that B-29 back in the air. They got one they can use for parts as well as the location of one in roughly one piece.

That B-29 would make it pretty far on a full tank. The vertibirds I dont know what their powered by but I doubt their powered by a internal combustion engine considering how they always blew up like the nuclear powered cars. If the vertibirds are truely nuclear powered then range is pretty much unlimited but life spand is limited though unless in this alternative time line they came up with a way to keep nuclear reactions happening the same indefinately.

This used the bomber idea from the Boomers right?

One word: Implausible

Not every Vertibird in the world is owned by the Enclave, this is true. But it still wouldn't make any sense for your character to find someone with a Vertibird or working plane and suddenly find themselves with a good enough reason to travel to the other side of the world.

As for the repaired B-29 the Boomers have... were you guys even paying attention to what the Boomers were saying? They almost never even leave the air base you find them on. They brought back the B-29 you recovered by sending robots. It would make absolutely no sense whatsoever for them to suddenly want to not only leave their home, but leave the entire continent they live on. Even a single person wanting to do that doesn't make sense. Wanting to fly a plane is not the same thing as wanting to fly a plane halfway across the world.

One word (well acronym really): EPA.

Cut from Fallout 2, it would fit in perfectly in the Mojave, placate people that felt too much of the "goofy" flavour of FO1-3 was lost in New Vegas without forcing people to include it and finally include one of the most epic locations ever into the Falloutverse.

Failing that, I'd love a bus from Vegas to Reno. You could include plenty of real-world reference into it (real-life buses, mostly for old people, do exist that go from LV to reno. Give the bus driver a red hat for added humor factor, like those seniors "red hat society" sponsored gambling junket buses). The only trouble would be deciding which of the FO2 endings for Reno was canon. I vote for the Chosen One's bastard daughter taking over reno under the auspex of the Bishop family, it would tie into the reference to the Bishops already in FONV, we know canonically they're still a major player in Reno.

Oh, and tying in to the "song names are quest names" theme in FO:NV, you could title a quest "folsom prison blues" and have the player shoot a man in Reno just to watch him die.

1. A fish tank for your suite, with a glowing "Glowing one" goldfish for 30k caps and various others lol.
2. Anything to do with legion because their interaction in the game seemed kind of sparce compaired to NCR.
3. Something scary like point lookout in FO3. (at least i thought it was)
4. Add some neat perks, like "Sticky Fingers-when stealing an item with a value of 10caps or less u have no penalties even if detected." "What are the odds?-Your odds in gambling are increased by an equivilant of 5 extra luck, also gives some unique dialog." and for the lolz "Butcher Pete-u have a 15% extra chance of critical melee when your choppin' up all da womens meat!" (i did make a character named butcher pete specifically for the melee in this game)
5. Something where u can have your own business or town and expand/grow it would be nice. I would like something to do with my 100K+ caps i assume ill have when i finally reach lvl 30.

I was thinking maybe you could bring back the enclave or a new branch of brotherhood of steel and I was also thinking maybe making a way that people could make there own follower I think people would love that.also if u plan to make a new fallout(I hope u will) because I love fallout but how bout updateing the engine a lil better grapics and really that's all it needs is a update to it I also herd alot of talk about armor mods to it like weapon mods but for the armor I thought it would be a good idea.and for a dlc I think u should put alot more weapons even tho fallout nv has alot of weapons I think there should be even more

Or for a dlc for the boomers is what u guys are all talking about maybe they try to attack the strip with there plane and drop there bombs on the stip if u want to help them but if u wanted to help mr house u could put a bomb on the plane and when they take off boom it's blown up thatbway ether way we can see. Something blow up and Add 40 level cap on it and let us play after the end and make our own follower like put skill points on him and level him up and put the poins in cagories like guns and stuff and stuff like that

My first thought would be an add on to the main story for after the dam battle, like the enclave was moving in on newvegas and whoevey you fought for _ yes man .. mr house .. NCR .. leigon_ told you they were a threat and needed to be dealt with.
the only reason i think that should be in is because i want more energy weapons -lol- because i find there is a stunning lack of power armor and plasma grenade/mines also some odd different energy weapons

second, as i was saying cince like a week before newvegas came out

Given the western feel of the game (and the fact that Oblivion had them) I was a little surprised this game didn't have horses. Not sure they would be good DLC content though.

Thats kinda hard sense there are 4/or more endings : Wild Card,NCR,House, legion i kinda hope they come out with a DLC that follows the out come of the ending you picked I.E Wild Card, also there are afew/or more quests i like to see the out come for like "Come Fly with me" (if you helped them blast off) but adding more areas will be awesome too kinda wanna check out "Boulder Dome" or "Area 51" and adding more weapons will be cool too.

Ah, EPA would be so kickass.
Played it on the Restoration Patch, the Spore Plants were annoying as hell, and dogmeat and marcus went ape[censored] on 'em.
Had to sit down and read a book and every once in a while hit the space button. :P
But the rest of the place would just be awesome.
The puzzles should not be easy though.
Should be really hard and complicated which makes the struggle all that more worth it.

I agree, but, you have to understand the FO2 resto patch version of the EPA was based on what was in-game, in the source files, when the game as released. FO:NV has on it MOST of the key players of FO:VB and a great deal of FO2. The current team is as close as any living people will ever get to a recreation of the absolutely epic Van Buren team assembled of the best programmers, coders and scripters of their gaming era. We can mourn for the los of Van Buren, but the setting, the feeling and even most of our hero team members live on in Vegas. FO:NV is arguably the best assembly of RPG talent ever gathered under one license, they're one Nobuo Uematsu away from my fantasy league RPG superteam. I am entirely confident that the current FO:NV team could re-create a compelling, more modern (face it the "green" controversy has been dead as long as Van Buren has been) version of the EPA than we could dream of.

Government beurocratic deadlock is as current an issue as it was then as it shall always be, it's a perpetual issue given the nature of the United States. Add in the massive US debt to China, the "red menace" of the Fallout series, and you could make the game an incisive political commentary and laugh-out-loud funny in one stroke giving us back the EPA.

I'm afraid too. Hell I'd take almost any other location you could think of to Area 51. But considering the hundreds of posts here requesting it I don't see them not doing it. :(

That said, the EPA would be interesting but they would have to really expand upon it. It's too small to be a full blown DLC, judging from what I've read in the wiki. It's basically nothing but a few underground levels, right?

Sadly I agree but we can keep the faith by voting and insisting. Surely the creators of FO3 and FONV realize that they for all their Oblivion-engine glory and Elder Scrolls series popularity are standing on the shoulders of giants. Much like the atomic project itself to which fallout owes everything, the modern developers stand on the shoulders of giants, not upon einstein and heisenberg but on Interplay and Black Isle. And like those physicists upon whom the spectre of the atom fist depended they must look back and realize that they owe their potency to those that stood before. Fallout 2 re-invented the hardcoe RPG genre, a genre that has had steady followers, followers that bought Planescape: Torment and bought Morrowind (TES IV). By continuing on those bases and on the idealized memories of millions of players, they have a built-in fanbase, the same fanbase that made FO:NV the biggest opening-day profit release in history, despite the bugs and everything else. Catering to hardcoe fans gaurentees a certain volume, independent of the people already turned off from the game by day-0 bugs and a criminally broken game.

That is correct yes. When I wrote it down it was all indented to make it simpler but then stupidly it put it all back in a line which clearly (or unclearly) is confusing.
