I don't think people are giving Bethesda enough credit

I hear everybody talk about what Bethesda could have done better. Which is fine. But I would just like to say THANK YOU! to Bethesda you have made a game that is amazing. Sure it could have been improved in areas but all that aside I appreciate the work you put into makIng this game.

I agree. Hail Bethesda!!
The only problem with this game is it makes everything else seem completely [censored].

I know! Ever since I switched from ps3 to Xbox 2 months ago. Skyrim has not come out of my Xbox (besides just cause 2)

Bethesda hit jackpot when they came up with tamriel.

Thanks dungeons and dragons!

But seriously, Beth know how well they've done. Not perfect, but nothing ever is. TES is a juggernaut in a field of one. :)

And that is exactly the reason why long term fans are criticizing Skyrim!

Morrowind with it's 11 guilds (each 25 or so quests) makes Skyrim seem as completely [censored].

It is all relative, and although I personally consider Skyrim a great game, the fact remains that felt I had seen and done all interesting things after 120 houes of gamepla whereas Morrowind was close to 500 hours before it became boring. So while 120 hours makes your average modern game seem like s h i t, compared to previous installments Skyrim itself appears insignificant.

I hope the DLC will add guild content, there are still plenty of dungeons for me to explore but without a purpose quests that fit my character it just all feels so meaningless. With Morrowind and Oblivion I was able to build a playthrough around a guild. I would do a guild quest, do something else and then some more guild content. Skyrim's few guilds have so few quests that you run through it in a few hours. This is IMO its biggest flaw, it keeps me from enjoying this game on the long term.

Ronnet - very true about the faction questlines. Walking everywhere probably bolted a lot of time onto Morrowind though ;)

Tis true though, I'd like them to give faction storylines a bit more love next time round...

I also think this game is the best out there, but I have a serious issue. I am level 67 using X-Box. Recently the game starting freezing while trying to enter any doorway. Nothing helps not even restarting. I am now chilling in my house in Solitude going through withdrawals waiting for the next patch.

Agreed. Thanks Beth'! I got no issues with anything in Skyrim.
And the bugs? The best games have bugs. Just look at Red Dead.

I'm sure walking also put in some extra hours. But for what its worth, in Skyrim I do everything on foot while in Morrowind I used fastravel (by boat) a lot so that sort of balances it. (not to mention that Athletics was always one of the first skills I trained via skilltrainers).

Nevertheless Skyrim really has too few guild content, IMO more guilds each with more (hand-made) quests is what this game needs.

Sounds like the A-bomb bug in oblivion...how many hours do you have in that save?

Yah, the college of winterhold left me gobsmacked. The whole questline was comparable to gaining entry to the arcane university in oblivion...

More factions would have been nice, such as the battle-born / Gray mane families, they could have been full blown factions like houses redoran / hlaalu / telvanni...

Ah well, we can but blow wind in the hopes some of it catches beths attention. Hopefully they only cut back a little so as not to overwhelm the hordes of newbies attracted by the biggest release they've had to date...

they need to bring back higher skill level requirements to advance in rankings like in morrowind which made questing seem longer too since you needed to train to advance :P.

That would be a aweful poor reason as it will have to be repeated with each new installment. These games release every 4 years so every time millions of new gamers are exposed to Skyrim which lead to a million new fans easily.

I was a new fan when they released Morrowind, having 11 guilds to pick from wasn't overwhelming, it was amazing. After hundreds of hours I discovered I could also join the Imperial Cult and the Morag Thong. No other game I've played or heared about has been able to suprise me with another sollid 50 hours of gameplay after I figured I had seen and done almost everything.

the joke is, if they would use the promotion/ranking system in Skyrim then you'd receive a promotion with every quest completed. In the case of the college, if they were to take the ranks from Morrowind's mage guild, you'd actually receive multiple promotions because there are so few quests.

This is a good sign that Skyrim has too few quests for its own good. A classic part of their factionsystem couldn't be implemented because the game had too few content. And ''too few'' isn't a term that should be associated with Elder Scrolls.

I popped my TES cherry with Morrowind too, but we're a different generation of gamer. Ease people in, then spread your wings. That's what I'm hoping they are doing, whether or not i agree with it...

If they fix the lag/framerate problems, then Skyrim will be my no.1 rpg if not game.
But it's hard to play a game that freezes every 30 secs

well here is to hoping its added again in TES:VI and has much more quests for factions aswell as alot more factions to join much like morrowind had.

Morrowind is somthing to learn from i mean if morrowind had the features and graphics skyrim had aswell as bigger landmass then it would probably would've been the best game even now lol

I consider Skyrim to be the weakest TES game I've played, but it's still very good compared to games made by other developers. Skyrim being the weak link is an enormous compliment to the TES series.

Other "big" RPGs (Dragon Age: Origins, Mass Effect series) and Sandbox games like Red Dead Redemption seem almost unplayable by comparison. The lack of interactivity and overall worse world design in these games is tough to overcome.

Your opinion is noted.

But I'm tired of Dip Companies making rationals for certain face palming decisions out of some derp worthy rational on the lines of "We thought it was too complicated" when at large they don't even Communicate with their fans at anywhere near the level it would take to garner such a reason. they got the money acclaim and ravenous applaud for their work, kudos to them, truly I'm happy their coffers are fatter I want another TES game and I want them to keep making Games, TES in any other hand isnt TES. it doesn't belay the many weak aspects of Skyrim

Totally agree, the amount of detail and history in the game world is incredible. Makes every other game developer look lazy and every other game shallow to me. I cant wait for the DLC to extend the experience further and also to spend more time in this truly amazing game.

Thank you Bethesda :)

Can't give Bethesda credit for making an "amazing game" when it does not amaze me.

Portal 2 was much more of a coherent and fully polished product.
Deus Ex had many more opportunities to develop the character I was playing, instead of merely his abilities.
Arkham City was much more intense, and the finishers are handled much better than Skyrim could ever hope to do it.
