I don't think people are giving Bethesda enough credit

Post » Fri Jun 22, 2012 5:42 am

I hear everybody talk about what Bethesda could have done better. Which is fine. But I would just like to say THANK YOU! to Bethesda you have made a game that is amazing. Sure it could have been improved in areas but all that aside I appreciate the work you put into makIng this game.

Hail Bethesda!! Hail the gods of Tamriel!!!

I'm on the Playstation, this issue was known since day one, and it still hasn't been fixed

Geez really? Fair enough then. :(

I think people are just shinning because the ran out of cheese.

But I also think people expect to much from their games.

yeah. it used to be literally unplayable. And it gets on my nerves when people, who have not experienced it say its not that big of a deal.

Skyrim is a great game. Bethesda deserves a lot of credit.

Oblivion is still my favorite at the moment, but Skyrim has been wonderful for me almost since it's release. Yes it appears some things could have been done better, but Skyrim is amazing.

With TES III, IV, and V, and also Fallout 3, no other company produces games even remotely as good a Bethesda, in my opinon. Even despite bugs and drawbacks.

Yeah, All I want is a working game. I don't think that's too much to ask for, seeing how I payed full price.

Bethesda are given plenty of credit for what they do & for what they have achieved, take a look at the number of awards they have won on all platforms.
Morrowind, Oblivion, Skyrim, Fallout 3, Fallout NV (sort of) have all sold shedloads & topped the sales charts, Scored very well in the reviews too barring the typical Bethesda achilles heel of questionable reliability which their long suffering fans tolerate with a patience that no other developer fans can come close to.

If the above is not enough credit then i'm not sure they deserve anymore, Lets face it, Bethesda are not alone in creating a thriving modding community & loyal customer/fan base, Bethesda are not solely responsible for the "Shut up & take my money" mentality that their loyal fans exhibit(yes me me me) for more content, games & DLC, The loyal fans are the ones that are not given enough credit & are just as worthy of praise as Bethesda themselves are, both would not exist without the other & it's a 50/50 provider/customer relationship.

So yes, Bethesda are given enough credit because we buy their games & enjoy them, now if Bethesda thanked me for buying all their games & thanked me for my unswerving loyalty over the last half decade then i would return the favour & thank them, I appreciate all the hard work they have put in & their eye for detail but they aint giving it away are they, We have to buy it.

Everyone needs more credit, Not just Bethesda,

There is no benefit in blindly defending games and kissing up to developers by saying that there is nothing wrong. This behavior is actually the cause of games getting worse. When the devs think they have nothing to improve because people say the game is perfect, nothing will ever be improved, and legitimate issues could be ignored simply out of ignorance of its existence.

There is also no benefit in making complaints about a product where there is no complaint.

Which is why I will continue to make positive remarks about Bethesda products, because they have yet to offer me a product that warrants a complaint.

You don't get to decide that for anyone but yourself. I see no reason for such defensive posturing, if the game is made better by Bethesda taking to heart criticism from players, the game is improved for everyone, you included.

Hail Bethesda! Because they give a darn!

Absolute quality and true passion to the max with everything they create. We are very fortunate to have people of this high caliber working in the game field. Thanks Bethesda for being the best.

TES is a juggernaut in a field of one.

Pretty much this. What most don't realize is, if not for Bethesda, there would be no game like TES.

As for the complaints about what Bethesda could've done better...well, the mod community exists for a reason. Use it.

what about us console gamers? we don't have that option. so we post are criticism (granted, some aren't constructive) in this forum, in hopes that are voices are heard and taken into consideration.

Why would I praise Bethesda when the respawn bug is killing the game and creating a dead world to play in. No thanks I am not going to blindly praise this company for a faulty game I will think them for the bug fix if they fix it. I also will not think them for gutting the magic system, the only thing Skyrim has going for it is its quite possibly one of the best crafted worlds since Vvardenfell island.

He has defended this title since it was announced, he will stand his ground regardless what faults this game has for whatever reason.

Bethesda did a great job, and created one of the best rpg's ever. I just think that the game is a little overhyped. Its great sure, but its not innovative.

Skyrim was truly a wonderful game to play, but in hindsight I struggle to remember any particular moment that struck me as particularly amazing. Improving a game is apart of a developer's job, credit should be given for areas of the game that were added to make the game better and, in my humble opinion, I see little that holds it above any previous TES game, aside from aesthetically. However, I am still grateful for the magnificent game, as an improved TES game is still a great game.

The only two areas I would say have improved is the combat system not the magic ad that is a joke. Then the graphics and world, the art style is simply amazing and the world itself is great it stands alongside Vvardenfell in being unique.

Totally agree with the OP.

Even while playing other gaming masterpieces such as Batman: AA and Portal 2 I find my thoughts always wondering back to Skyrim and Tamriel. Even the combined played hours of my other games does not come close to the time I've spent in Skyrim.

TES games are truly fantastic and I'm really looking forward to whatever Beth come up with for the next installment.

If obsidian made the game it would be twice as buggy

New Vegas has less bugs. Not even comparable to Skyrim.

This is problem with Skyrim.

Storytelling and quests are so bad.

Hmm..i'm playin' Max Payne 3 now; linear, with no choices, but with a mature plot, solid characters, great atmosphere and a good sense of humor typical of Rockstar.

This is what Skyrim lacks more in my opinion,"maturity" and depth. And sorry if i have to say this - even credibility -apart from the lore, some books (often old) and few interesting things (i.e.Falmer,Forsworns -but all undeveloped - lets hope in the Dlcs for this) ) in a M rated product i was expecting a lot more in that regard.Sure, its a great game, but if we could give a constructive criticism here as an input to improve it in the future, why not ? of course without any unfair exaggeration in praising or denigrate it.

Art direction, world, the views, the wildlife, NPCs when you are not interacting with them, improvements in the ....weight, I suppose, of melee and archery, all amazing.
There are, however, problems. The journal is a huge step down from previous titles, your interactions with NPCs can feel more annoying than realistic at times, there will always be bugs with a game of this complexity but there are still a few bugged perks, I think this is unacceptable as they are the backbone of the new progression system, and while mages might not have a problem with power, their options are limited. I wouldn't expect them to return spellmaking now, but the amount of spell tomes seems pretty small, especially with the options mages had before.
And overall, wonderful action/rpg, not so hot on the rpg front, not because of mechanics and character progression, but because of a scarcity of consequences, excess of essential NPCs, and though there certainly are some, a limited amount of quest choices and branches.

[Oh, and thanks to Vsions, the look of my Skyrim Altmer is a massive improvement over my Oblivion character.]
