How rude... I really just wanted to ask a simple question about Dragon Age 2, not get in on an ongoing 4 month long discussion..

So why didn't you ask? For the last two pages we've had an ongoing discussion of whether we like the changes or not.

For the record, I'm not getting it. I can't get past the changes of what I enjoyed so much in DA:O. Too many restrictions out of nowhere, voiced pcs [I can, sort of, tolerate maleHawke's voice; they haven't revealed femaleHawke yet], flipping, rolling, leaping attacks like Jade Empire, no ff unless you're playing Nightmare, and more. Maybe someday, when the ultimate edition is on sale on steam. I decided on Dungeons instead. And Skyrim of course.

Not compared too Metal Gear Solid 4. :) I forgot if I was playing a game or watching a movie.

On side note:

I been watching more video previews of DA2 and one of the developers said something to the effect of: "We didn't want the player to feel like they were moving around chess pieces during combat." and "We didn't want to the player to feel like there were a bunch of hidden dice rolls happening during combat."

I was so bummed. Moving around chess pieces and having hidden dice rolls during combat was the reason I loved this game's combat system.

Strange they went with such a hard class based system this time. (no bows for warriors, no swords for rouges etc.) I'm not completely turned off by this though, I like defined combat rolls, sometimes.

I was also a little shocked to hear about the static clothing/armor. Is this really true?, I'm going w/ the info I read here.

I think it is pretty safe to say that the majority of people like clothing and armor options. I'm only coming from the P.O.V that people usually like to customize things (visually not just character stat wise.). The only motivation I could see behind this would be to create more consistent game characters.

Yes, you can make a custom/completely new Hawke.

You can't tweak/change the default Hawke besides deciding whether you want to walk around with blood smeared on your face or not.

Just like ME/ME2 you can be male or female.

Yes. Like in Mass Effect, playable human man or woman with fully customisable face. You can't edit the default face though, you have to start from the presets

Forced to be human svcks, but i can live with it. Had Skyrim forced to play as a Nord i'd had started a riot :lmao:

Bah, damn cat ninjas...

I'll go with extra blood - helps prevent dry skin

$10 says they will release a mass effect style reskin dlc.

The only brightside is mages no longer have those stupid hats. But since they were optional I am just going to say the devs didnt feel like doing much work on making different outfits.
They will likely have an alternate outfit like ME2s loyalty outfits.

Source?

If by "static" you mean you can't change the armor or clothing during the entire course of the game, I'm fairly certain that's not the case.

Mike Laidlaw: Hawke's inventory works exactly the same as [in] Dragon Age: Origins. That's pretty much it in a nutshell. The usual slots--helmets, armor, boots, gloves--they're all there for you to equip. The character can customize based on, well, for the most part, stats. Very similar to what we did in Origins.

The follower armor is limited to one slot for the entire outfit, but it can still be altered:
(cont'd) Follower outfits are not just a suit of armor and some sort of locked-away thing. Throughout the game, it's possible to find or buy upgrades to the follower armors. And what these produce are new effects on the armor that are persistent throughout the game. So being able to find different types of padding, being able to also find, on occasion, the ability to add rune slots to the followers' outfits, meaning that you can take them a step further and start using armor enchantments to further customize how they equip themselves [source: https://docs.google.com/Doc?docid=0AQLV-bPqzg0aZGc5MnRrY25fMjZkY3Q5djhjNw&hl=en ]

The companion armor is apparently sometimes upgraded or changed when the game decides its time, too.

What I dislike is not being able to change, for instance, Isabela's outfit. I'm fairly sure that even light leather armor would be better than no pants, a long shirt, a thong, and high boots. But that is just me.

I havent seen Isabella in DA2, but really ?! Didnt people already complain they had skimpy outfits. Damn, only saw Merril atleast she looks fine.
Also is this isabella the same one as the last one ? Wasnt she like an old white woman and now here 10 years on she is a younger tanned woman, ok qunari was one thing, but how will they explain that. Also have they ever explained wht the darkspawn look different now ? Should jsut make some crap up about mutations.

I think that will fall flat, at least on the PC. What with toolset after release and all that.

They said that they actually use the same program as they did in Origins, just updated for the new functions, and that the less functional SDK from Origins can similarly be updated once they are done with the game. Wink bloody wink. :hehe:

Uh, that is armour for Hawke, whose outfit we can change anyway. He's referring to stuff they did in ME2, though that did not even nearly cost 10 bucks.

No, she wasn't. If you remember, you had a chance to have her teach you the duelist specialization at the Pearl. [and a chance to "visit her cabin" on her ship, possibly with some combination of Zev, Leliana, and Alistair] She was Rivani, and was wearing leather armor.

She is still Rivani, played by a different voice actor, and now wears a long shirt, no pants, a thong, and high boots to fight in. Whether she looks better or not is personal opinion.
