Empire or Stormcloak

Post » Fri Jun 22, 2012 11:23 am

In order for the Empire to triumph over the Thalmor they need to remain united. They need skyrim for the greater good of the empire. That being said they should have handled the WGC abit better but there are better ways to go about something then rebelion. Its Hasty and rushed. Second. I HATE Stormcloak. His motivations are selfish and he's just using the difficulties with the Thalmor to further his own agenda and his lust for power. He's a tyriant that needs to be put down and with that I am more than happy to oblige

"Maybe." Like I said, a united empire > a divided one.

That's solely your opinion, not a fact.

Precisely. The Empire didn't want to banish the worship of Talos, they did it so their entire Empire wasn't destroyed. Once the Thalmor are taken care of and the worship of Talos is no longer banned, they'd have no need of Stormcloaks, would they? Besides the Skyrim for the nords bit which I think is a tad racist.

If the Thalmor could've destroyed the Empire, they would've done it. The Aldmeri Dominion agreed to the WGC because they were as weak(if not weaker) than the Empire. The longer the Empire waits, the stronger the Aldermi Dominion will get.

I still wouldn't. I actually was going to side with the Stormcloaks until I saw the racism when walking into Windhelm's gates. I've never supported them since, really. Though I agree, some may support the Stormcloaks a bit more. But with the worship of Talos never being banished, their cause is just blatant racism isn't it?

Who knew that a town drunk and an old war-veteran displaying cynicism against a Dunmer is enough evidence to conclude that a whole faction is racist. That action isn't even racist, and the Nords have every right to be suspicious of the Dunmer. What about the attitude of other Stormcloaks, like Ralof and Solaf? Using your thought process, I can conclude that the Stormcloaks are a very friendly bunch.

Empire, ive grown up with them in the TES games and my Orcs have always been part of the Legion, i just cant see me siding with anyone else. Dont get me wrong the Empire aint perfect, especially now but as soon as our strength has been regrouped and we have crushed the Thalmor then we can go back to the good old days.

I "grew up" with it, too; so did my friends. But this isn't the same Empire of the past four games.

Empire

Without the backing of the Empire, Skyrim would be pressured even further by the Thalmor.

Skyrim+Empire=Dead Thalmor

Empire-Skyrim (or) Skyrim-Empire = Stalemate with the Thalmor (Until the Redguards join in again and kick the Thalmors [censored])

Empire. A splinter group as fanatical and radical with Ulfric as their leader would not only see the Thalmor as their enemy, but the Empire, as well.

Evidence in the game disputes the contrary.

No, but they can beat the Empire back and easily take everything they want. They plan to attack the Empire eventually, and if it's divided, it will lose.

Remember how the Aldmeri Dominion decimated the independant Hammerfell?

Isn't this what Wulf - AKA Tiber Septim - said in Morrowind? How do supporters of the Empire shoot this down?

Spoiler
"The Emperor is getting old. Don't know how much longer he'll hang on. So is the whole Empire, for that matter. Getting old, that is. The Emperor and the legions have held the Empire together for hundreds of years. It's been a good thing, by and large. But maybe it's time for a change. Time for something young and new. What? No idea. Because I'm old. Old dog doesn't get new ideas. But maybe young folks like you should try some new ideas. I don't know. Could be messy. But change is never pretty."

Personally I think that's already happened the change already happened from the septim to the mede dynasty and it sure wasn't pretty.

Hammerfell had the Alik'r Desert to drag the Elves into, so they can fight on their own terms. The Redguards had a MASSIVE advantage over any Thalmor

And the Redguards are notorious for being the best warriors in all of Tamriel

Empire. the stormcloaks say skyrim belongs to the nords, No, it belongs to the inhabitants of skyrim.

"Skyrim belongs to the Nords!" A common battle cry among all Nord NPCs, including Imperial-supporters.

"True Sons and Daughters of Skyrim." I don't see any race mentioned in that, do you?

Yeah, pretty strange if that's coming from imperial supporters though, as one of the camp commander of the legion is a mer.

To me the Stormcloaks are racists at worst and xenophobes at best. Not all of the Stormcloaks are elf-hating racists but those different shades of Stormcloaks have one thing in common: They don't like foreigners (or at least elves).

I know, and Skyrim would be just as hard for the Dominion to invade. There are few viable ways into the province for an army.

To attempt a naval invasion, they would have to travel through the treacherous Sea of Ghosts, and the only waterways into Skyrim are the Karth River and White River, which would be death traps.

Eastmarch is protected by the Velothi Mountains, which the Dominion would have to traverse through Morrowind to get to. Riften is protected by the Jeralls. The Reach is mountainous enough as it is, and I doubt the Thalmor would be able to go through Hammerfell and the Dragontail mountains unscathed.

That leaves Falkreath, a huge pine forest. The safest route that an Aldmeri Army would have would be walking right into an ambush.

the empire could not defeat the aldmeri dominion so i dont see how the stormcloaks could defend skyrim against the aldmeri alone... however on the other hand the empire need the nords in there legions (i see them as the backbone of the empire) the war benifits the thalmor in so many ways. i find the ''enemy of my enemy is my ally'' quote is very appropriate to skyrims plight

Well to be fair, after the great war, I'll be surprised if they aren't suspicious of elves, not the dunmer though, as they don't side with the dominion. But then again the dunmer practice slavery.

I get it but how come a nord legionares shout that Skyrim belongs to the nord when not all of their superiors are nords, heck the one they sworn oath to is not a nord.

It's because "Skyrim belongs to the Nords" is a battlecry. Even if it were some type of slogan. Nothing about it implies that other races are unwelcome. If anything, it fits the Stormcloaks well because they want Skyrim to be independant.

Exactly it fits the stormcloaks not something that should be shouted by those that want to quell the rebellion isn't it?

But again, in the end, it's just a Nord battle cry.
