Well my 10 year old son thinks its the best game ever made....ever. This is exciting news for me as a RPG and TES fan. I have been trying to get him to play anything else besides the MW and Gears of War franchise for a few years now and no luck. He has been playing the game with pure joy and amazement and even asked me to get him a PC for his B-day once he saw the cool mods and creation kit news :-). Its one of those proud father moments as we have been arguing over how an X-Box is not better than a PC for the last year and I win.

Moreover he has 3 friends that come over to play *ugh* MW3 and once they played Skyrim they all recieved it for Christmas and have been playing nothing but. They talk gear, strategy and quests rather than headshots and most frags now.

Keep in mind soon our sons and daughters will take over the gaming reigns from us and it is a good sign that they actually like playing the same games we do.

Wait, there might be hope for my generation after all(I'm 18)?!?

Seriously though, I was introduced to TES much the same way by my father and it is good to hear such stories.

Pay attention to the lore, playing an RPG without listening to the lore is kind of like trying to drive a car without an engine.

I love, how you guys are making Skryim out to be the most sophticated and complex game of all time. While in all actuality, its the simplest TES.

Well your brother is ten and likes COD so his opinion of an RPG is skewed.

There is so many things with judging a game based on the review of a [censored] 10 year-old for christs sake.

I personally enjoy the Dwemer lore alot, and that includes their ruins as well. They just feel so alien; crazy, hyper advanced ruins emerging from the ground of a nation where everyone is practically still living in huts.

No we're not. But I am not going to knock you if you take advice from 10 year olds on games.

Oh really? Look at the first page, hell this thread is pretty much saying its too much for a ten year old to handle. Compared to Morrowind and Oblivion, Skyrim is just a pretty interactive movie. The only major improvement, is all the duengons are diffrent and thats about it.

Sophisticated and complex? Rather more than some games. If you don't like it, Morrowind and the others are that way ----->

IMO Skyrim is pretty fast-paced, at least in comparison to MW and OB. If I can complete a guild questline in 2 hours, I would define that as "fast-paced." If anything, they need to slow the pace.

some of the best looking games (iv ever played) were on ps2, realistic graphics (pretty much what every game trys for these days) are not the best, far from it imo

Someone doesn't know the difference between graphics and aesthetics.

Anyhow.. now that the new buzz has gone I can't really play Skyrim for longer than 30 minutes without getting bored of it. The main reason for me though is that the combat mechanics are extremely stale and if I play as anything other than a Mage the game is too easy.

TL;DR a 10 year old is not psychologically mature enough, no matter what, to properly comprehend the content Skyrim has to offer.

I find the insults to ten years old insulting, I was 11 when i got morrowind(when it came out) I thought it was good(Though the graphics were horrible). My dad got me into rpg's, he use to play the old schools bards tale.

What insults? It's nearly impossible for a 10-year old, even with the mentality of a 15-year old, to get all out of the game.
It's really just about psychology and social knowledge.

Honestly, *I* could've played this game when I was 10. This game just isn't as complex as you're making it out to be.

He's ten. What did you expect him to be an art critic or something?

Let him play CoD

There isn't much to comprehend in Skyrim, no offense.

Okay. Enough comments about 10 year olds.

This thread seems to be on the flame-baiting and trolling side of things to me. Implying that anyone who likes and enjoys the game is less intelligent than a kid is really not a good thing, so this can close before someone ends up with a warning.
